I’d love to get a mandolin because the sound is so wonderful but after playing guitar for fifty-seven years, I don’t think I could get used to the very different tuning and chord shapes. Could I tune a mandolin D G B E or an Open Tuning of some kind?

I played guitar twenty years and then picked up a mandolin. It was strange the first two days. After that, it felt almost familiar as if I was playing guitar. I also just bought a banjo recently, same thing.
