I think one of the most useful features for me was to turn on the battery percentage. You go to settings>battery>battery percentage. Also you can mark your text messages as unread so you can come back to them you just swipe right on the text feed.
Hey! :) you can edit your home screen using settings under wallpaper. It gives you the option to customize either your lockscreen or your homescreen. Hope that helps
You can also edit the home screen and change the photo or turn blur on/off and things like that from within the lock screen. Just tap the lock screen you want to edit and press customize, then without doing anything press the ok button in the top right corner, then you will see the button that says set as background pair, below this button there is a blue text that says customize homescreen, click this and you can edit the homescreen :)

btw you can now turn haptic on for your keyboard. also in a newer ios16 update in the future, they’re going to let you customize your home screen without having to customizing your lock screen first. also text dictation now adds punctuation in as you’re talking. there’s more filters in messages if you have your message app set up for that. and you can only do depth pics if you don’t have any widgets so the ai can notice it.

You can also turn the battery percentage back on the battery symbol at the top right. Settings > battery > toggle “battery percentage” on (doesn’t work on the mini 12/13)

If your planning on getting the iPhone 14 pro max, it really isn’t worth it from your iPhone 13 pro max, you should wait for the 15 pro max which might get a redesign (not sure) but rumors are saying it’ll get usb-c and a periscope lense (allows you to zoom more)
Julia!.. Hey!! I was just thinking too, if you would be doing a "what's on my iphone" with the ios 16, so,.. so happy to see that, haha!! But you know what happened to me?...when I was setting up my lockscreen with the features??? That hexcode cursor got stuck on my screen!!! Yeah, I couldn't do anything because anywhere I tapped on my screen, that cursor popped up and it just stayed like that!! But, in my hysteric,.. I didn't think to just restart phone, so I left it for the night and then in the morning, after checking on youtube there is where I saw about restarting the phone for stuck screens. and it worked!!!! whew!! Anyhow... thanks for the vid!.. REally enjoyed it as always!! Have a wonderful day!!

When I go customized on the Lock Screen to put the text like you did with the “have a great day” when I click on the date it doesn’t give me the option of “Widgetsmith text” it doesn’t even appear is there anyway I can fix that?

your home screen looks great! i am extremely unhappy with iOS 16 so far just because it has dimmed my backgrounds a LOT. i used to have bright colored wallpaper on both my lockscreen and my homescreen (different ones but both bright), but it just looks silly now that it has been dimmed. i know there was a setting for dimming backgrounds in iOS 15, but it has been removed in iOS 16 and i am just so confused why it happens. i am now using a darker wallpaper even though i don't really want to :( i also think the fact you can't change the font for the date is so lame - WHY?? also i can't use the widgetsmith widget on the lockscreen since there is no update in the app store - maybe a location thing? your wallpaper looks to be normal tho, so this confused me even more

Another way to change your Home Screen is to go into settings and hit wall paper and you can change it from there.
