By choosing longer cycles, you actually made it easier. Longer cycles is a longer time until the enemies come, the actual waves of enemies are based off enemy amount, not time

Just so you know, you should probably just leave your resources in the center when moving around. I’ve noticed you’ve been carrying resources off to the sides while expanding your mine. Like you mine 2 water near the center then carried it all the way to the left side for some iron. It’s not a huge difference but it’s definitely slowing you down.
I think the reason that the ore plant didn't sprout is because you didn't give it enough room to fully grow? I tend to give my plants a 3x3 square but that might be overthinking it. Also, more Dome Keeper! Super happy to see more of this game! (Hope that you get well soon from eye surgery!)
The sooner you find the plant the better even if its just a few extra pieces. One silly thing you can do is to not destroy some of the easy to access ore near the base so that you can just go get it. As for space, more space lets you get more branches, max is still 3.
With the double laser you would have easily survived the last wave as the issue with the huge laser is mobility and with the double you can destroy instantly both sides of the dome, try it out next time and you will see ^^
I would create a mod that lets you use every weapon and addition to the base, also removing all "2 doors" options so you can have like minigun + shotgun, and heavy rapier sword.

I particularly rather to keep the teleport able to transport the keeper, especially when I got the drones accessory, so, as the drones carry the resources, I can dig deeper and go back to the dome in a blink ._.
A good tip for you when you're dragging a lot of stuff around. Just grab two or three bits of something and have them push the rest of the resources. That way you aren't slowed down by carrying more than your capacity and everything is still going where you want it to go
You should try this again but on a bigger map. Also, you definitely got screwed over with that one relic. If there is a way to get more relics you should go for it
If you REALLY want to go insane from difficulty, try quick and feeble, the monsters may have lower health but they are twice as fast with all speed INCLUDING Attack speed
imagine there was a gas monster that would instantly make you lose in the 'you asked for it' mode but only if you have the slightest crack in your dome because it would slip through the cracks

The tree will growth for 3 cycles/waves then give 1+(the ore resources) every cycle/wave afterwards
