Iran's Komeil Ghasemi takes on the USA's Tervel Ivaylov Dlagnev in the bronze medal bout in the men's freestyle wrestling 120kg event at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The 1900 Games were the only ones where wrestling was not present in any shape or form. As from the 1908 Olympic Games in London, Greco-Roman wrestling has always been included on the programme. Since the 1920 Antwerp Games, there have been both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling competitions.

Wrestling for Iranians is a way of life. It is deeply rooted in our traditions. Unlike European or Western countries, we did NOT pick it up from any other country or nation. Wrestling is our own National Sport.
Funny!!!? No. That is NOT funny. Wrestling in Iranian culture has it's roots in ancient times. It is way older than what you may think. By the way, your so Called Greco-Roman wrestling is known by that name in Western countries but not in Iran, Asia or the East for that matter. Over there they have their own so many different versions of it and it has nothing to do with Greece or Rome. I am just saying study a little bit more.
Well, the supreme irony is when I get the information you find unpleasant from your own history books. Lets get one thing straight, I like Western culture and people, Americans in particular and I don't like to offend anyone here although you tried to offend me...It doesn't matter for me a bit. However I do not stand back and let anyone attack the heritage of Iranian people. "Your culture" is made up from so many other different cultures and beliefs (from west and east) which is a good thing. Nevertheless, I don't know why you get the misguided notion that you are superior to other people from other countries. Iranians, Americans, Asians, Europeans, etc are all human beings but with different way of life. Anyway, we are not discussing how superior west is in terms of technological advancements, but we are talking about wrestling here. In my statement I said wrestling is older in Iran, Asia and the East than in Europe and the western countries and I stand by what I said. I did Not use the word "stole" in any of my comments and I suggest not to use such words so loosely. By the way, the cave paintings you talked about are in Mongolia not in france. At least, Google it. Oh, just to let you know, I am not going to respond to you either.

Ghasemi was so powerful that Dlagnev had to rely on perfect execution of great technical moves, and finish with such quickness in executing to completion these moves in hopes of offsetting such great power Ghasemi had. So tiring is that task. What an awesome match.

American highschool/ college wrestlers are more muscular than their Olympic wrestlers for some reason.
1) This is 120kg division
2) Wrestling success is about strength and skill, not about muscle

Russia with 167 olympic medals and USA with 125 Olympic medals are 10 times better then Iran with only 38 Olympic medals.
There is Japan with 62 Olympic medals, Turkey 58 Olympic medals Sweden 84 all are a lot better then Iran with only 38 medals.
