Can I tell you how much I LOVE this?! The sport lives on, Im only 23 living in a small town, but Im converting every couch rider I know every summer I ride. I can only hope to eventually get this good!
Still got my 86 550 that I bought new in 1986. Still has original paint, mat. Been riding stand ups since 1984. Started with an 81 JS 440. A basket case that I got for free. Rebuilt it. Rode it for a year and half before getting the 86 550. Those JS 550's with the piston port engines last forever. Built like tanks. I'm convinced that the JS models were the best ski's ever made.
Jeff was unstoppable and a true natural...check out some of his riding footage thats not on the race course...he was/is an animal...Jeff Jacobs and Christy Carlson..the king and queen of jetski racing!
@@elicarter1356 He can always buy another one. That's what I did last yr. 1990 550SX with every aftermarket bit. It's not the same riding it at the age of 52 as it was back in the day, but I am having a blast enjoying it.
@@josefmd yeah he could, but 550s are so hard to come by nowadays the cheapest one i found was 800 not running.... i picked it up and of course got it running and heavily modded it. and especially even harder to come by the 90s and up with the reed motors....
@@elicarter1356 Nice work! Yeah I hear you! Everything has gotten out of control price and available wise. Actually, the 91 and up were reed motors. My 1990 is a PP.
@@josefmd ohhh got it!! ya learn somethin new every day! i still want to try and find a 91 with the lightning graphics and the reed motor and trick it all out. hopefully in the future sometime!!
No better standup rider EVER! He beat everyone on 440's/550's, then once he got on Superjet's he started beating everyone AGAIN! McCluggage, Rius, Fischetti, Sheldon,et al., pale in comparison to Jacobs!
Awesome video! I love seeing all the subs and sliding around on the 550s! I practiced doing the 180 slides alot just like in this video! Is this actually Jeff Jacobs that uploaded these or just a fan?
still watching warm up videos, time to JET SKI
Found this video ages later and it hits really hard. This is pure art all around.
This is was when jet ski racing was bad ass. Now it’s pretty sad. 90’s era ijsba bud jet sports tour was for sure the pinnacle of this sport.

Back when it took talent to win not just horse power.
Just like drifting
Came here after watching you mtb with Phil on YT...pretty rad video - thanks for sharing
Can I get a link to that video??
Had a 90 550 that I bought new @ a SF dealer. Used to have a blast riding in the bay. Sold it in 94 or 95... Should have held on to it.
my dad says the exact same thing.... he wishes he never sold his 550 or his 750

Looks like Canyon lake
