    I am a patient of the floater doctor, and what he says is true. The floaters were such a distraction in life that for years life just sucked. He managed to zap my eyeballs and the central part of my vision cleared up enough that the floaters went from unbearable daily to okay most of the time! a wonderful improvement.

      Hi Danny. Instead of 'zapped my eyeballs' let's instead say "used gentle beams of healing light' or something like that. Hey, hope all is well. -Dr. J

    I have had this condition for 14 years and it is terrible, so many days ruined by the eyefloaters so much stress so much suffering depression, and the doctors only tell you to get used to it, like this is an aging process as this were a wrinkle on the face, Noooo this is something that medicine should have investigated years ago, help so many people who have had this terrible condition for years, such as EYEFLOATERS, and this it is not something you can get used to, it is something that many years ago should have been solved, and prevented so much suffering in those who suffer of this condition 😔

    Hello Dr thank you for your efforts of trying to help treat the eyefloaters. Quick question please I had eyefloaters since I was 18 and now I'm 20 it's been 2 years and still no improvements at all ... what's really really bothering me everyday and frustrating me and causing me depression is that one black/very dark floater in my left eye and my doctor said it's close to the retina so that's why it's awful ... would zapping it be hard or dangerous? And is there any any diet or supplements I could take in order to make it at least more faded and less dark and noticeable... please I would really appreciate and answer 🙏

      At age 20, it is very unlikely that you would be a candidate for laser treatment. It has been rare and exceptional that I can treat somebody in their 20s. I'll encourage you to read through the lotus atropine program I have on my website. It seems to work best for those in their 20 and 30s. As far as dietary supplements. You can find all kinds of claims on the internet's but I'm not convinced that they are helpful.

And is there any side effects from using it. Also I have multiple floaters but as I mentioned the most horrible and irritating one is the one in my left eye which is black/dark and It's also close to the retina .... also doctor I got my eyefloaters from lifting heavy weights in the gym. I'm worried that it might increase like the only thing I'm hoping is that my eyefloaters doesn't worsen up or a new black/dark one appear because it's really really disturbing. Thank you doctor... and about the yag lazer treatment for my eyes why am I not a candidate? Do you mean like it's dangerous for my eye or like what exactly? Hi @yousifchallenger03 , I also have dark floaters, I believe that in my case there are two in each eye, with the eye open they are not as problematic and are more evident in the dark too, but when I blink they "light up or explode". I would like to ask you: do you also have floaters (clear and transparent) that only appear when you blink your eye in addition to these dark ones?
      Did you suffer a severe blow to the head weeks or months before they appeared?

      @@Thefloaterdoctor1 Dr. Johnson I suffered a PVD ( Posterior Vitreous Detachment ) with symptons of "floaters" and I consulted with several brazilian ophthalmologists who stated that there is no specific treatment for such a disease other than the invasive "pars plano vitrectomy" ( which benefit does not compensate the risk ) - just as they dismissed the "Yag Laser" and the atropine eye drops as purely experimental.
      Dr. Johnson it would be a immense honor and a benefit to medical science if Mr. was invited to a conference at the Brazilian Academy of Ophthalmology to explain his revolutionary therapy for "floaters", in which his recognized erudition on the subject would serve as an invaluabre enlightenment to ophthalmologists, most whon are refractory to any scientific experimentation outside the traditional paradigms - and who, in view of the suffering of their patients with "floaters", recommend conformity or the hope of a hypothetical "neuroadaptation" over time, since medicine has not yet found a satisfactory solution for the disease ( which made it incurable ). In the next consultations with brazilian ophthalmologists, I will mention how valuable an exchange or invitation from an authority on the subject, such as Dr., would be to give a scientific conference at the Brazilian Society or Academy of Ophthalmology.
      I say goodbye with effusive greetings and extremely grateful for the attention given.

    Hi Doctor, I am 50 and started getting floaters pretty bad this year. Cincinnati Eye Institute told me nothing they could do, just come back in a year.. ? I know Atropine works for me because they dilated my eyes and I didn't see any floaters. I told them this, and they acted like they had never heard of it! Took to the internet and found this video. It's so crazy that no one has told them that Atropine worked.. they do this everyday, all day lol. Problem is I can't find anyone to prescribe it to me, and no pharmacy to fill it if I did.. Can you do online consults for Atropine?

    Hi, 30 years old, I was diagnosed with pvd at the age of 28 and since then the flashes don't go away especially when going from dark to light after how long does it take?

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually a PVD will complete within days or if you short weeks. I generally tell people to wait at least a month after the outside of a PVD before considering laser treatment, but ask them to consider waiting longer if they're still getting flashes of light because as you suggest, it is a sign of an incomplete pvd. I have had patients who have had continued peripheral flashes of light for a couple years. That is pretty rare, but anything is possible.

    My traditional retinal specialist whom I see annually, when asked about laser treatment, made the statement "If you asked 100 of us who don't do it (treat floaters), we'd all say the same thing; it's not effective and not worth the risk." I think that she and her peers are resistant to progress and somewhat unethical in not telling their patients that there may be help available.

      Medicine is pretty conservative. My best response to that doctor (if I were in the room with you) would be: "Well, my entire practice is the treatment of eye floaters. For 16+ tears now. 'IF' it were as ineffective or as dangerous as you are implying, I would not be able to continue practicing and I would have all 5 star reviews on independent review sites. Progress is not made by continuing with what we learned 20 years ago, or by consensus of what we are accustomed to.

      Stop aging, mostly. There might be something to highly oxidated and pro-inflammatory diet contributing to the problem in younger patients. Nobody is researching it, but it makes some sense. Eat cleaner is something we can all be doing. Avoiding sugars, reducing carbs, avoiding seed oils (vegetable oils): canola, corn, soy and especially fried foods.

    After cataract surgery I was told by the highly thought of surgeon tbat the floaters would fade or that i would become "settled in" with them , that a risky vitrious
    Surgery was available . Best to accept the floaters and read book on the mental , psycological resources to limit the extent to whicb they cloud our vision.

      The variable awareness of your floater may be a result of the shifting pupil diameter in different lighting environments. This is the basis of the use of low dose atropine (0.01% and similar dosing) which mildly dilates the pupils. See @xBonzo27PS4 a couple comments up

    Hey doc! I'm in my 20s and developed floaters a few years ago-- I believe from rubbing them excessively during a tough time in my life. I've found some relief from wearing darker sunglasses and from tinted contact lenses, but I also have eye allergies/sensitivities and sometimes wake up with swollen eyelids and cant wear contact lenses on those days.
    Do you think atropine might be worth exploring for someone like me? I'm somewhat afraid to try it because my eyelids are often irritated for a few days after I get my eyes dilated.

    • @Thefloaterdoctor1
      @Thefloaterdoctor1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Low Dose Atropine (LDA) should duplicate somewhat the effect you get when yoiu wear sunglasses. By reducing the incoming light with sunglasses, the pupils dilates slightly. With LDA you do that pharmacologically and you're not obligated to look like 'Mr. Cool" indoors.

    Most ophthalmologists say the same thing; it's so frustrating how misinformation about floaters becomes "fact." Most ophthalmologists will repeat the same false narrative. Floaters absolutely don't "fade over time." Where did that come from?!? I also hear them say, "they'll eventually float to the bottom." Sure, if you don't move your eyes at all and don't blink, perhaps. 🙄
