All states do this. It happened to me in Florida, Texas and Nevada. This is common practice. They draw you in with high salary estimates, then when you get there they make up one reason or another why it changed, by then you are on the hamster wheel, stuck in the classroom and unable to do anything about it except complain. The only solution is to leave. Teachers will always be cheated because they don't respect us.

Yes but apparently they will only put it on the news about a certain color if you know what I mean there are other cases of other people of other races with the same type story and they will not put them on the news

It amuses me that people who are not teachers always have something negative to say about teacher's salaries. Teachers spend hours of unpaid time working and doing paperwork and if your a special education teacher you do double. Not only that they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on supplies and are reimbursed the bare minimum.

I've had prospective employers try to low-ball me at the last minute and each time, I thanked the HR Reps for wasting my time, and no thanks, bye. This was a tactic used by the HR DEPT, I found out later. My phone rang in days following and got the agreed upon amount. Always get your money going in. PERIOD.

@@moniquelampkin7212 Parents can't deal with their own lack of emotional intelligence, so no. Most parents see/engage their children less than teachers do. When parents get home from work, if they get home, miiight spend an hour in dialogue or interactions with them daily. The weekends are the same because most ppl work weekends too. I don't blame these teachers for speaking up. Miles' NES plan expectations are for teachers to be with students from 6:30-5:00. Those are very long hours for $63,000 annually. That time is not including lesson planning, conferences, meetings, and the other laundry list of items teachers are required to do. In addition to Everyday Teacher Tasks, SPED Teachers do a TON of paperwork. He needs to come to DFW and find a teaching job. His hours won't be that long, and there are SPED bonuses of $3000-$7000 depending on the district.

    • @simplyputmusings2948

Incorrect. He outlined the plan and it includes reduced duties for teaches and leaving at 4:15P. Not only that he emphasized healthy work / home life balance for all educators.

You see when that new guy gave that big meeting on television where he explained the money, where it was coming from, how the programs would work, and paying compensation? I listened. You could tell that a lot of it was bait and switch. A lot of people are not getting raises that they think they're getting. Plus you don't really know how long this raise is going to last if you are at one of those 30 schools. See that's the caveat right there. You have to be at a location that stipulates you get that new income. Otherwise you don't. Not to mention they're cutting stipends to pay those people extra money. It's a bunch of tricks you shouldn't be at HISD. Oh and hope those people have a good year performance wise because if they don't guess what's going to happen at the end of next year?

It's not the same as when my mom took school back I guess it was like 40 so years ago I mean really I think that the district's unfortunately are putting teachers behind computers and all these other thing I mean the family's could get the computers at home where they can have a computer lab where they you know having the library they could you know all kinds of ways that the main teachers put their expertise and and and all of that underneath the equipment just seems wrong to me but I don't think anybody's going to change you know and then I have struggling to pay the teachers when you know the equipment could be gotten elsewhere you don't necessarily need it inside of the classroom😮

"Performance" can depend more on how well you are liked by your supervisor and by the number and type of students you are assigned to. You can be highly competent and still be "performance" out of your pay and job by the powers that be in your organization. Any employee can be set up to fail or succeed at the whim of HR or a supervisor.
