Use lard or vegetable fat and use an alternative liquid, oatmilk, soy, etc.

Yes you sure can. I would use lard or crisco instead of butter. ( I do not like how margarine turns out ) And I would use soy milk personally because it doesn't change the flavor and has more fat .You can even make biscuits with water
