Depression ke kaaran agar unhe kuch ho jaata to unki patni ki khair nahi jo unhe jhoote ilzaamon mein phasa diya. Khatta Meetha is Probably The Most Underrated movie In 2010-20

He didn't even remake some of his own best Malayalam comedies from the late 80s/ early 90s like Aram + Aram = Kinnaram, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu.
These would be superhit if made with Akshay Kumar because its full comedy with mindless story.
Khatta Meeta and Hungama 2 original ones were also average movies, watchable only because of Mohanlal and supporting cast.

There is no downfall of priyadarshan he is very active in Malayalam cinema even now, last year his movie won a national award for best vfx.
He was able to win National award coz he is a BJP supporter and if I'm not wrong he was a member of RSS. And that film got the award before the release. After the film's release, it turned out to be critical and commercial failure.
But that film was a box office disaster and trolls came against the national award jury as well. He has taken break from south as well because of this shocking failure as that film was made in heavy budget.
Now after 4 years, he is making next malayalam movie

Unki biwi ne divorce ke time bola tha na ki unka accha samay khatam ho gaya hai. Abhi ye do filmein logon ko pasand aayi tab unki biwi sir peetegi apna.

If so why Neeraj wora made another hits like Priyadarshan. Hera Pheri 1 and 2 all dailogues were from original malayalam movie. Not a single dailogue was added or missing. Being a mastercrafter comedy director, Priyadarshan brilliantly re-made it to suit the taste of hindi audiences. Having seen both malayalam and hindi version I can say if any other direcor had re-made it, the film would have been different. I read somewhere before Priyan mentioned after completing Hera Pheri producer felt film is slow and no item number or nice locations or dream songs so he wanted to add masala scenes and item number in the movie which was popular on those days, but Priyan was against it arguing item song will spoil the family mood of the movie. So after completing the film they added some songs without Priyadarshan. That was the fallout with producer and director.
Kilukkam wasn't a flop it was an Industry Hit in Malayalam

Vora bhai.As Hera Pheri franchise is a cult classic it deserves a director of such stature to maintain in it's which people like Inder Kumar sir (Dhamaal fame) or Annez bazmee sir(BB2) can maintain that moment um of this film if not with priyadarshan sir.
'Phir Hera pheri' is not a good sequel. It's plot is a shameless copy of Guy Ritchie's 'Lock stock and two smoking barrels'. They didn't even copy the source material well and it resulted in a convoluted mess of mindless slapstick comedy. The first film was good because it was subtle and to the point in telling it's story and was much better acted.

Apart from comedy, Priyadarshan's serious movies like Gardish, Virasat, Aakrosh were also fantastic. He was a multi talented director. He could direct comedy, drama, action, high budget, low budget every kind of movies effortlessly. Another director like him was Rajkumar Santoshi, he could also direct every genre of movies. It's sad that now these two are not very active in Hindi cinema.

2000-2010 was a great decade for Bollywood in which some amazing movies were made!
With due credits to Neeraj Vohra, you shouldn't overlook the fact that almost all of his hindi outings were based on remakes from malayalam or tamil. He found a great arist in Neeraj Vohra who could adapt a script to suit North audience sensibilities, along with some exceptional casting choices.
What he badly needs is a good script writer who can co- create magic for any audience, south or north.
What neeraj did? Translated Malayalam script in to hindi? Most of his work are remake of Malayalam movie

Aur Priyadarshan ke Malayalam films ke remake (Hungama, Garam Masala, De Dana Dhan) sab usi ne khud likhe hain aur woh bhi 1980's ke films hain. Tab Neeraj Vohra Malayalam industry mein nahi tha.
Waise bhi sare dialogue sab translated hain, hindi mein local slang mein likhne ke liye Priyadarshan ne Neeraj Vohra ko liya. Original dekho ge toh patha chalega ki dialogues sab same aur scene to scene remake hain.

Billu Bumm Bumm Bole and Khatta Meetha are just brilliant films also Khatta Meetha is my all time favourite comedy movie despite these were flop in big screens, they were superhit in tv and other platforms ❤️

Priyadarshan is a genius. People should accept all kind of movies not just a single genre from a director. Bollywood audience does doesn't have the intellect to understand this. It's only entertaining remakes which will work with them

He also acted in few movies like Bol Bachan where He played Makkhan who used to regularly say "Hukum" to Ajay Devgn
I think only director at present that can make us laugh is Anees Bazmee as he had direct many comedy movies like Welcome, No Entry, Ready, Singh is King... and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 wasn't that bad... so, I think he should make more comedy movies like he has did (without Farhad Samji)
