Far as I could see in college (many years ago), the idea was to join a sorority and catch a bmoc. Most frats and sororities seemed empty to me...not competing academically, but socially and financially. To this day, still hearing about frats being suspended from campuses for serious hazing incidents.
I too felt it was a waste of time. They were not doing anything but being cutesy..the aka's.. and loud and street, the deltas. There were only two on campus. When I got to grad school, I thought I would join zeta phi but got busy and passed on it. In professional school, never did. I don't feel I regret it.

Sisterhood. It’s the idea of spending the time and aesthetics and showing the effort for self on the outside of degrees and education to show that there are some situations where colorism isn’t really a precedent including those in the audience that put in the time to show up for the events, those that cook the food and those that clean up after, not necessarily that they are Greek or seemingly just paying into an organization. All people of color are not the same and some are just complaining and working on last nerves of others. Show up and show out because church isn’t the only service and this is a perfect way to show excellence in the service worker arena as well. Watch it…
