Know your environment, your surroundings, take note of exits in whatever area you find yourself, learn to look for behaviors that give off signs of danger or aggression, they are there is your trained to see them. Lastly and this is almost always unpopular, stop allowing politicians to create target rich environments that must depend on outside agency help in order to protect themselves and the people in them. Schools should have the staff trained to carry and use firearms. Plenty of staff members are x military, plenty more are willing to take the training and stay current, why not let them? The average response time for law enforcement is 5 to 7 minutes in the best case and often much longer. Countries like Israel have had armed teachers since the 70s. They have yet to expierence a single mass shooting in one of their schools. Teachers carry loaded M4 carbines to the playground. They are trained to use them and one thing all these mass shooters have in common, they are all cowards and bullies. Cowards and bullies don't usually attack targets that stand a good chance of fighting back.

When I was at college, we had to have a mandatory presentation of "Run. Hide. Tell" for a violent person on campus. Anyone in K building was thoroughly screwed as it was the smallest building on campus with only 2 ways in and out of the building: the front door and the back door. Hell, you could fit my class the other smallest class into one room and still have room. But narrow corridors, so you couldn't really flee for your life if you needed to.
3 tips 1. Dont try to be the hero youll only get yourself killed as an easy target. 2.if you hear gunshots or any screaming from multiple people dont hesitate run or hide or be prepared to fight. 3. Dont trust anyone at the door you might hear a friend a classmate or even your family members it might be tough but you cant trust anyone at that moment they couldve been secretly working with the shooter you never know.
