The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. $52k dividends received in 2022.

I agree! That's why it is advisable that you have to invest while you still have a regular job or earning a regular income, and do it constantly. You still need to have something that will keep you going even if you're investing. Good financial planning and money allocation is the key.

We experienced the peak of our era, and now it is gone. Recession is tanking everything including 401K. My retirement equities portfolio of $750K is in the reds. I keep losing because of inflation. This world will fall to the corrupt rulers in the same way that Rome did. I'm sorry if you're thinking about retiring and you're worried that your pension won't be enough to meet the rising cost of living. Horrible foreign policies everywhere, bad regulatory policy, bad fiscal policy, and bad energy policy.

Instead of trying to predict and prognosticate the stability of the market and precisely when the change is going to happen, a better strategy is simply having a portfolio that’s well prepared for any eventually, that’s how some folks' been averaging 150K every 7week these past 4months according to Bloomberg.

My wife and I are retiring this year with over $7,000,000 in tax deferred investments. up until 3 years ago we were 100% in the S&P. During bear markets we had a perfect plan. I realized that the dramatic rise in both will need some added income. So, I started buying shares paying dividends. I can now see that this will be the path I need to take to make sure those two expenses will not overtake my future income.

I encourage everyone to play the “Jeremy Grantham game” google his name and a year, 2020, 2021 ect… and hear his perpetual bear market call. Crescendo was his call in mid 2020 that we were in a “super bubble” where the S/P loses another 50%. Crazy he has a shred of credibility. The only one who is and has been guaranteed to be wrong is this fine gentleman.

Well.. when the fed prints money like there is no tomorrow what you get is artificial growth situation. The bubble will burst and recession will happen. When did you check last time the US debt amount?

Buffett is a corrupt mean spirit individual. He is a perma bull on the USA but most investors can’t do what he does.
He buys shares large enough to put his people on the board of directors then cuts costs aggressively, fires a lot of people, pushes for stock buy back & of course he makes money but the customers & employees suffer.
Look at companies he is a major owner & they are bunch of corrupt organizations cheating their customers like Wells Fargo Bank.
By the way if you look at his history he did not make a lot of money until 1980 when money printing & deficit spending started in the USA.
Buffet is a perma bull because the policies of the FED has benefited him personally.
