y'all don't fully understand the level of La Fiorita. Italian youtuber ZW Jackson made a WHOLE SERIES of him being an actual player registered in their team (on onefootball as well) and playing a couple minutes in the conference league playoffs last year. He's not starting, but it's still crazy how this team which has literally appointed a youtuber to gain a bit of notoriety won a game against a full-on professional club. It's like if Tobi from the Sidemen went and played for Crawley just to make a "I PLAYED FOOTBALL WITH MY BROTHER!" video, and then they went and beat Man City in the FA Cup. It's crazy
Not to mention the two second tier sides (Wisła Kraków from Poland and Corvinul from Romania) both advancing in their Europa League campaigns.
Damn, thats cool. Did they win their domestic cups and get relegated in the same season or something?
@@TurboThunda Wisla Krakow won the cup while being in the 2nd division, where they still are for the 24/25 season.
@TurboThunda IIRC, Zealand already did a video on Corvinul, and essentially they're banned from being promoted because they're owned by their local council, and Romanian league rules aimed at combating communism mean that publicly owned teams cannot play in the top flight. They would have been promoted last season if that were able to
@@TurboThunda Corvinul are in the second tier and have't been in the top tier for many, many decades.
They won the cup though.
They were also in the promotion spots but were denied promotion due to a rule were clubs funded out of public funds are not allowed promotion.
Still don't have promotion rights even if they win the second league.
I always learn some proper cool random facts when scrolling Zealand's comments section. I just love it. Thanks guys 👍😁👌
It's a genuinely great time of year for us fans of Welsh League teams. I still remember Aberystwyth Town (my home town team) playing your aforementioned Floriana of Malta in the first round of the Intertoto Cup (kind of like the Conference League) and it being a massive part of my last year of high school getting down to Park Avenue every other week!
Never forget when the Belorussian league single handedly got us through Covid when there was literally no other sport on in the world because Lukashenko said you can treat covid with "daily vodka and sauna"
In the words of Eric Cantona - "I love football."
Zealand took Bate Borisov to Champions League Gold back then, too
4:05 Derry City actually plays in the League of Ireland (Republic), come on. Tom FM certainly knows that, he lost to them so many times
Somehow I doubt a team called Derry would ever want to play in the Northern Irish league.
@@Christophee1987they joined the league of Ireland in 1985 after 13 years playing in the junior leagues after being unable to come to an agreement with the Irish league. They had a lot of issue due to the Northern Ireland conflict and after a few friendlies with some teams from the Republic of Ireland they were invited to join the newly established league of Ireland.
@@Christophee1987they used to play in the northern Irish league in fact they’ve won league titles and cups in both the northern irish league and league of Ireland (Republic of Ireland). It was just too dangerous during the troubles as their stadium “The Brandywell” is located in an area called the Bogside which saw a lot of violence during the troubles. There’s another team from Derry called Institute that play in the northern Irish league though and they are temporarily using the brandywell until they can get a new stadium built (their stadium flooded during heavy rain and was severely damaged)
Derry is the only word in the English language with 6 silent letters!
@@Christophee1987they left the irish prem (N.ireland) due to misstreatment from the IFA and their favoritsm toward more pro uk clubs like linfeild (mini rangers and extremist fanbase)
I agree about the conference league, usually people shit on uefa, and usually for good reason, but the conference league was such a good fucking idea and addition to the european football ecosystem. Such awesome and fresh matchups, and so many clubs and leagues have something more to strive for now. I literally get more excited about it than the champions league
Yeah, the one thing that is a bit annoying about it is facing a Liverpool/Chelsea in it but those are the teams that bring in the revenue I guess and getting an upset over them is memorable indeed, I still remember when we (FCSB in Romania) got one 1-0 win over Chelsea in the 2013 EL RO16 even if we ended up losing 3-1 away. To be fair they had just won the CL in the previous season too not finish 6th in the table so they were way better then but beating a massive team like that would still be insane
Magpies are a team that was formed in a pub 11 years ago
San Marino desperately need a regular Worldwide Tournament for lowest ranked teams in each confederation.
Imagine four groups like this...
Group A
1. Anguilla
2. British Virgin Islands
3. San Marino
4. Sri Lanka
Group B
1. Bahamas
2. Gibraltar
3. Turks & Caicos
4. US Virgin Islands
Group C
1. Guam
2. Seychelles
3. Somalia
4. Tonga
Group D
1. Cayman Islands
2. Liechtenstein
3. Pakistan
4. Timor-Leste
Qtr Finals - Semi Finals - Final.
Play it in Scotland every four years during the World Cup :)
i think itd be too unprofitable and its not worth it unless you host it in like the USA or smth
@@qztxk I feel you'd get more fans going to games somewhere like Scotland than you would in the USA where stadia would be empty.
Just look at the terrible attendances for most USFL/XFL games {except in St Louis}.
It would be a novelty in Scotland that people would actually go to see but in the USA it's just a few games of a sport no-one's interested in between teams no-one gives a damn about.
If the first tournament in Scotland works well then you could consider trying it in other smaller football mad countries like say Paraguay or Thailand or Angola.
Although derry is located within Northern Ireland they don't play in the Northern irish league they play in the irish Premier league
Another day of asking Zealand to cover the Romanian team from the 2nd league that won the cup and then destroyed the second place from Hungary away in their first European match
I've just seen that too, but somehow the hungarian team also advanced and won against a team from cyprus in the 1st leg.
Derry do not play in the northern Irish league. They’re the only northern Irish club to play in the Irish league instead. Partly because of politics (it’s a catholic Irish club that calls their city Derry instead of the British Londonderry) and partly because they’re objectively better than their competition in Northern Ireland, which is why their loss is shocking. Obviously the Irish league isn’t massive but it’s still a reasonable skill gap between Derry and the Gibraltar magpies. It’s like a FA cup upset where a League 1 side in England looses to a non league 6th division team.
That Andorran club in the conference league also beat Hibernian last year. Hibs showing how much of a tiny club they are once again
The Scottish Premiership is just a glorified Old Firm. A Campeonato Uruguayo of Europe, with just two rivals teams of the same city winning over, and over, and over, and over again!
Pron. guide for Caernarfon > "K'nar.von". :)
And bonus: Caernarfon derives its name from the Roman fortifications. In Welsh, the place was called “y gaer yn Arfon”, meaning “the stronghold in the land over against Môn”; Môn is the Welsh name for Anglesey.
I was at the Crusaders-Caernarfon match as a Crusaders fan. Watching Crues come back from 3-0 down on aggregate to 3-3 is something I will cherish. Yes, we lost on penalties, but what an unbelievable experience. Two semi-pro clubs going at it to try and get through!
in the europa league 1st qualifying round, both second division sides Wisla Krakow and Corvinul Hunedoara progressed to the second round
You should do a video about Bruno’s Magpies (a literal pub team from Gibraltar) they also won a European game and have set up a match with Kopnhavn. The guy who scored the winning goal plays university football in the UK for UCLan, the uni I went to, pretty cool story!
I watched the entirety of the second leg of Santa Coloma vs. Ballikani and it was one of the best games I've ever seen in my entire life
Not san Marino tho, go run to release the clickbait endorphins
@@newseriousits like having the title “England won the world cup” and its just man city winning the club world cup.
This season is already different in an exciting way, in Champions League the Preliminary Round was forgone, so UE Santa Coloma has finally advanced into the Second Round and that alone impressed me!
I love the early stages in European football, so many heroic but also tragic football tales are told in the obscurity of these qualification matches !
Speaking of Floriana and Hamrun (the champions of Malta) the title battle they had last season was crazyyyyy. They played eachother with or 2 matches to go and Floriana was 2 points ahead but then lost. That was its peak but there's more
Mannn im disappointed, it wasnt actual san marino.
The way zealands putting it is like me saying England finally won a trophy when city won the Champions League
Tre Penne, also from San Marino was leading 1-0 and needed a 2-0 to make it to ET, but they conceeded and the match ended 1-1
I never thought the League of Ireland would show up on this channel, but now that it's on your radar it's to indulge yourself in the #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld that does actually also include Derry City.
Gibraltar vs Malta is the European version of Cayman Islands vs British Virgin Islands
While Derry City are based in Northern Ireland, the club actually plays in the Republic of Ireland's domestic football league, the League of Ireland.
I'm so happy that a San Marino team won, but this is very upsetting moment for me, back when Covid started, and Belarus continued to play while everyone else stopped playing, I started following Isloch, and I've loved the journey so far, and to finally get to Europe qualification was a brilliant moment, but fair play to La Fiorta
'its pronounced 'Caernarfon Town'
Just here for the comments when people spot your blooper
I want a Champions League for, wait for it, the champions of every league in Europe.
The one thing UEFA did right with this qualifiers structure
TomFM would be proud of La Fiorita right now 💙
speaking of San Marino their u21s beat Gibraltar 3-0 a few months ago
you should check out brunos magpies team from gibraltar. it was only funded in 2013 and named after a bar where the first players there used to drink.
Hoped for Zealand to go over the next matchups for our beloved 'minnows', Santa Coloma against Midtjylland, Inter Escaldes against AEK Athens, La Fiorita against Basaksehir and Bruno's Magpies against København (+ofc Caernarfon v Legia)
Football is awesome!
I'd love to see more videos like this, reviewing the quali rounds
i also love the fact that theres a polish team in europa league Wisła Kraków wich playes i the second devision of poland but won the polsih cup, and they went through the first round
Inter Escaldes played AEK Athens away tonight and were 4-0 down in 53 minutes. They fought back to be only 4-3 down after the 1st leg. Inter's first was an OG and then AEK missed a penalty when it was 4-1.
As a West Ham fan, I've gotta say that the Conference League has been an amazing addition to football! It allowed me to see my team lift a trophy for the first time in my 42 years of life, and I'll never forget that night for as long as I live!
For teams like us, and SO MANY other, much smaller teams (like these San Marinese and Gibraltan teams), it's amazing. We're highly unlikely to ever get near the Champions League. Even getting into the Europa League proper is a tough ask! So having this 3rd competition for smaller teams and smaller leagues to try and have a go at European football is great!
The only people who slag it off and look down on it are the elitists who follow the big clubs and feel entitled to Champions League football every year
I absolutely agree with you. I see tons of people bashing and disrespecting the Conference League, just because it's the smallest tournament out of the 3. It was like that as well for the Europa League even before the introduction of the Conference League, simply because it was the weaker tournament. Another perfect example is the Carabao Cup, being bashed on, disrespected on and considered weaker than the FA Cup. It's because of the prestige obviously since in terms of teams, the Carabao Cup is stronger consider the 92 EFL teams all compete, while the FA Cup also has non league teams. The Carabao Cup all because it's weaker than the FA Cup in terms of prestige, gets disrespected and that's not right. Imagine if the Carabao Cup has winners like your West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle, Aston Villa etc, it would give the tournament more attention since teams, that don't win the Prem or the FA Cup, will win the Carabao Cup, only then will I envision people to start praising the Carabao Cup.
@@kingfwogger Yeah I don't get the hate over the League Cup either. Like, if you're a Premier League team, and you're not in Europe, there are only 3 trophies you can actually go for. The League, The FA Cup or The Carabao Cup.
For a team like West Ham or Brighton, the League is basically out of the question. Not everyone is going to be able to 'do a Leicester', so that's pretty much an exclusive trophy only for the likes of Man City and Liverpool. Same with the FA Cup. Big teams still go for that trophy, so that one's very difficult to win too.
Yet for the League Cup, big teams just don't really seem to care about it (until they get to the semi finals, at least). I don't get why smaller teams don't go all out to try and win it. Even teams like Brighton will send out a 2nd string team in the early rounds! Like....why?? You could potentially win it!
It's not like it'll get in the way of the league either! There's only like 4 or 5 games till the final, the final is in February so it won't get in the way of the end-of-season run in, hell, winning the trophy could actually HELP the end-of season run in by giving teams a much needed shot of confidence!
Wow! That goal from La fiorita is a genuine classy goal!
Derry City, whilst geographically in Northern Ireland, play in the Republic of Ireland league.
I went to watch caernarfon town and we're going to play legia warsaw next who beat villa last season😭
derry dont play in northern ireland though they play in ireland
Ah, the great Massimo Bonnini will be smiling - the man who played for Juventus and turned down the Italian national team for a decade so he could play for San Marino.. a true hero
Definitely need qualifying updates from Zealand news
Derry City plays in the League of ireland, so there is from the Republic of ireland.
Polish 2nd tier club advanced past 1st round of Europa qualifiers.
Some leagues are already starting up this weekend, like the Danish league.
The Romanian league is already playing the 2nd matchday because we need time for a winter break, playoff/playout and playoffs after the playoff👍🏻
Ever heard of teams like Cardiff and Swansea? last time I checked those are Welsh teams ;-)
(inspirational vid non the less)
They play in the English leagues so they are basically English for football purposes to be fair
I’ve been clickbaited by zee, good job!
To be fair it says NIR, but Derry do not play in the northern Irish league. If you have time you should look into them because they have an amazing history.
thank you dude
that pronunciation of "Belarusian" is criminal
Derry is located in Northern Ireland but they play in the Republic of Irelands league!
And there was a second division romanian team, Corvinul, that last year was playing in the 3rd division went into Europa League after winning the cup last year and they've burried Paks away 4-0, the vice champions of Hungary.
Love this video, despite your obvious blunder with Derry city, i find the early round the best as a League of Ireland fan.
and also Corvinul Hunedoara which is a 2nd tier romanian team who qualified to europa league knockouts because they won the cup, beat the hungarian 2nd place Paks 4-0 in the first leg to qualify through which is insane
10:10 It has actually happened THREE times before (the third of which, they actually got into the conference league group stage)
As a Belarusian this is a disgrace.
Also it's isloch not isloh (ch like in "china" for example)
I've always thought that San Marino ought to be one of the better tiny European nations. Even though they have half as many people as Andora, San Marino is situated right in the heart of Northern Italy, and I think some of their players can play in the Italian lower leagues, whereas Andora is basically a ski resort.
Imagine if a San Marino club actually gets qualified to an European competition though.
It would be awesome.
Best time of the year - European club qualifiers 🎉
I was wrong about the conferences. I thought it was stupid but its really fun
These qualifiers are superb!! It would be like winners of FA Trophy getting a slot!
Well there are still 3 more rounds to go with stronger sides joining in later (but there is dropdown so if you lose in UCL you go to Europa (except if you had lost the first round which was just played) then if you lose that you go to Conference League qualifiers) but yeah, back in the day there were no qualifiers and we just got to play the big boys straight up and there was just one team per country in the UCL not as many as 5 as there will be this season so still a massive downgrade from how it was back in the 80s
@@edi0157 oh of course, but even so? My great-uncle played in Europe against Juventus while playing for Bray Wanderers!! The qualifying rounds are like auditions in talent shows, always gonna get shocks and smiles before the dull predictability sets in again
@@lukefarrell6769 wow that is so cool, bet that is one story that was constantly passed down the family ever since, must have been back when European competitions were pretty new at that time. Now you literally can’t get that unless you win 4 qualifying rounds as I said…

I feel like I've experienced that exact shootout on FM24 so many times. That or losing 3-1 after 4 pens each...
I love Shamrock Rovers. If I ever become a billionaire, I will make them Champions league winners.
Derry despite being in the north of Ireland play in the republics league due to conflicts when they previously competed in the northern Irish league
Now they actually did😊
Derry City plays in the Republic of Ireland’s premier league, not in the NIFL
Derry city from the. Northern Irish league 😂 oh they won’t like that pal
i feel sad for UE Santa Coloma, they have to meet my team of FC Midtjylland.
i just looked at the conference league standings and there is at least one red card every third game. tha fuck are they doing over there? wut?
LETS GO!!!!!!!!!! 🇸🇲
madrid and milan have nothing on la fiorita
What website/app is that?
How many of these matches did you actually watch tho?
The qualifying rounds for the UEFA competitions are the pinicle of European football. No amount of tiki-taka gegenpressing can ever reach that.
Fuck the actual Champions League with their levers and energy drink companies (unless we qualify for it of course)!!
I’m doing a build a nation in wales at the moment. I’m in season 6 and somehow 2 other teams got the last knockout round of the conference league😂
4:21 actually all 3 Icelandic teams in the conference league made it through you missed valur and that game has a crazy story on its own
God I love the Conference League
Derry are in the Republic of Ireland league
San Marino can win on pens, city can’t. I rest my case
Nice recap, always nice to see the qualifiers getting some love even if you clickbaited us into thinking the San Marino NT got a win, the clubs had already progressed twice before in previous years. You skipped the Europa League where the absolute madlads second tier Corvinul Hunedoara got a FOUR FUCKING ZERO WIN AWAY TO THE HUNGARIAN VICE CHAMPION PAKSI before losing only 2-0 at home putting them through in an absolutely massive win for us Romanians, between this and the Euros the Hungarians must be in shambles ngl, not a good start for them. They will face the Croatian vice champions Rijeka next. The other second tier side in the Europa League, Polish team Wisla Krakow also won their tie against Kosovan side Llapi meaning that they will face Rapid Wien. Also, you understandably glossed over my team FCSB s win over first time Sanmarinese champions Virtus but the fun fact is that the first leg was a 7-1 win exactly 10 years and one day after the Brazil-Germany game. If only UEFA would have had us play on Monday…Btw, we beat Corvinul 3-0 in the Supercup and then dropped two limp draws in the league, now we play Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv, idk how that will go.
The third round draw is this Monday before the second round games are played too which means that anyone getting an upset will also get their opponent s higher coefficient (they use the higher coefficient for the third round draw) so that is something to watch out for too, this is the real football ngl (unless we actually qualify for a competition, we are only one win away from that since we are champions but who knows)
TORPEDO & DINAMO ALL DA WAY!
I do love the Conferance Lesgue but it's still ruined by the top 4 Leagues getting spots in it. They shouldn't get spaces at all and it should exist purely to help the lower reputation Leagues. I would also probsbly enjoy watching the games more when I don't know that another top league team will probably win.
Yeah but unfortunately money prevails. To be fair it feels great to believe in an upset over those teams nevermind get it but yeah, they will most likely dominate the competition
la fiorita is my team when i do the san marino challenge... ;)
Only one thing is more insane than San Marino team winning. How the FUCK are teams from Belarus allowed to compete?
i wanted to scream when la fiorita won,but I couldnt because everyvone in my apartment was sleeping, btw 11:57 do a "review" of qualifers
you missed Corvinul, from romanian SECOND division beating hungary's second best team in europa league
Well according to FotMob, that San Marino Club only has 1 player from San Marino while the rest are mostly Brazilian and Italian. The guy from San Marino did not play. This means nothing for San Marino
This will still improve their coefficient and inspire more Sammarinese people to play the game, make more money available for the clubs to invest in facilities etc
YEEESSSSS
But the national team still hasn’t won any competitive game? 😔
Love seeing some Welsh teams getting some love :) your pronouncing needs some work but who can blame you 😂 it's pronounced c(lowercase)- narw -vun.. harder than it looks even trying to explain lol, Connahs Quay is just pronounced Connors key :)
Not Z saying Conference league is such a great idea after going through a rant about it's uselessness in other videos in the past.
I personally disagree that the conference league was a good addition, not because I'm against giving smaller teams a chance but just that the way it's structured makes it a bit of a joke. We are getting more and more towards basically all PL teams qualifying for Europe with those in the conference league (and Europa league somewhat) treating it with contempt until they get near the final. It also gets us closer and closer to the super league UEFA were looking at before the big clubs proposed the superleague, one where the next Leicester winning the league won't get into the champions league but will enter the conference league (or the 4th tier one they will no doubt launch at some point)and have to over the next few seasons reach the semis to move up the leagues until they reach the champions league and where coming 10th in the pl won't see the previous top4 in the top leagues drop out, they will either stay where they are, play a playoff to remain against the league winners of a country that doesn't have a team in the cl or dropping down in the Europa
That s not the Conference League s fault really, at least that way there is a competition for the worse teams even if even that has the likes of Chelsea, Fiorentina, Liverpool and Roma in previous seasons etc because money. I don’t think they will change stuff for the actual winners of top 4 leagues, that s already tough enough with the big financial gap and FFP rules prohibiting too much investment, they will just pack in even more top league teams as you said. Back in the 80s there were no qualifiers and there was only one team per country in the CL, now we have 4 qualifier rounds before you even get to the main stage, the qualifiers are more like the old Champions Cup than the actual CL at this point, it is what it is
LFG!!!!
It'a actually the 3rd time it ever happened for a Sanmarinese club after two victories by Tre Fiori these last years.
In 2018, they beat 🏴 Bala Town in the UEL preliminary round and in 2022, they beat 🇱🇺 Fola Esch in the Conference League 1st qualifying round.
As someone who live in Esch, good riddance for Fola :D
