Still rocking my Mi 11 Ultra since the day it got released. I have a chinese version with a custom rom on it . Still love this phone, it gives you all the freedom you want from a smartphone. Unlockable bootloader, roms etc... and yes, safetynet passes np . Battery life is still great, phone is charging super fast, cameras are amazing. Overall my favorite phone i ever owned .
Yeah, last time I've looked around they were out of stock almost everywhere. I guess 2022 will be similar to last year about shortage of parts and devices.
Shame it doesn't have a radio. Comes in handy during hurricane season. The Umidigi a13 Pro Max 5G has a headset free FM radio and I nearly bought it but ended up buying the Mi 11 Ultra instead.

I think I will leave Xiaomi on the self. The phone is used for many things because of all the available applications. One use is controlling midi applications from a USB Midi controller. Sadly and unknown by me is why Xiaomi does not implement midi on their devices. The worst part is Xiaomi does not respond to the situation. Another great review Michael.

If you're obsessed with the rear display, go for the M11U, if not, probably better to go for a more recent model since they'd weigh less and have a more recent chipset. As always, no matter what phone you get, please get decent enough protection for it!
3:47 You should try mcpro24fps for it's manual control when filming video! :) I use it on my Huawei P10 and it absolutely blows the stock camera out of the water filming video. It's not even a fair comparison at all. I'm several weeks away from buying myself a Mi 11 Ultra and I am very very excited to see what it can do with that video app. I've used it on a Huawei Mate 20 Pro and it seems to give you use of all back cameras as well

I can speak theoretically, because haven't used the Pixel phone myself: Generally - Sony image sensors are known for great autofocusing performance. I think it is better on Mi 11 Ultra than S21 Ultra (don't have much of experience with S22 Ultra). Perhaps it is a little faster on the Pixel phone.

My further 'investigations" have shown issues with all to some degree especially with the S21U and S22U having even after updates, inconsistent autofocus and at times shutter lag when compared to some other flagships. The Pixel (apart from wifi and fingerprint unlock issues) also had shutter lag in lower light situations but better autofocus than the Samsungs' . The Mi 11U has some lag and at times "hazy pics". I also compared at the local Samsung store the S22U with my current S Note 9 and N9 focused quicker most of the time and my old S Note 4 and 4 Edge still are as good as the Note 9 in this area. I think I will hold off as the current flagship all differ with their best and worst qualities...maybe and hopefully Mi12U will perform better than the current "flagships"

Either I was gonna buy mi 11 ultra or my mum was selling me her s22 ultra for £350 as she didn't like it. Tested it and wow basic phone, felt cheap. I wanted it for the spen which was good but screen felt cheap plasticy and the whole design felt like a huge step down from my oppo find x2 pro which came out in 2020!!!! Camera was terrible in comparison. I went with the mi11ultra and wow! Better in every possible way. Camera absolutely night and day better. Reviewers lie about Samsung's camera I can tell you that Much. Had iPhone 11 pro max and that was also a lot better than Samsung. Honestly guys get a Chinese phone, they are so much better than Samsungs. iPhone is a different thing altogether and they are genuinely really nice phones and I love the OS but I need to be able to sideload apps and torrent, cast etc so need a Google phone. Xiaomi and oppo are my favourites but Xiaomi really are the best. Getting a mi11 ultra in 2024 as I still am using, feels expensive and great materials. Camera is insane and the Ai on Chinese phones is something else! Changing the sky in photos to a galaxy is cool as hell! Xiaomi 13 ultra is out and soon 14 ultra, 13 looks crazy good. If you don't have that much just get an oppo find x5 pro, my girlfriend still using my last find x2 pro and people still ask her about it as it looks so nice. Chinese are by far the best. Even look at Xiaomi foldable (mix fold 3) way better than Samsungs in every way. People get too comfortable and have obsession with brands for some bizarre reason. I loved Samsungs over the years but as soon as Chinese phones began they just took the crown and Samsungs feel like really cheap garbage that old £200 2nd hand Chinese phones absolutely destroy overall. Samsung s23 ultra camera is poor as I tested it in carphone warehouse , their batteries are poor and they charge very slow! They're still charging at 20w 😂 Xiaomi are at 120w and fully charge in 18 mins on new ones. It's just crazy the difference and I don't understand why so many reviewers are lying! They all paid? No idea but im a tech freak (mainly with building gaming rigs) and I spend a lot of time with phones. The last decent Samsung and was best phone at the time was the S9+ and after that they just went cheap and OnePlus shit all over them! They were great for a while then they just stopped trying. Not one brand is close to Xiaomi right now but things change a lot with phones so I don't always stick with one brand, unless I'm using iPhone at the time. Trust me to get a decent Chinese phone and you will not look back!
The Mi 11 ultra is iconic! Samsung do have a good phone after that - S23 is the one in my opinion. But I totally agree - having no quick charging in 2024 is criminal!
I just came across your video. I have been using the Mi 11 Ultra since it was launched. It has its flaws sure, but it gets the job done, especially with the camera. However, I love how you mentioned using Gcam on it. Would like to know what Gcam mod were you using, as most of them on my phone don't really get the job done.

Hey, thanks for the kind comment. Based on what we see happening this year - I doubt a new Ultra model will bring too many innovations. There are thermal management issues with Snapdragon 8 Gen1. And sourcing different parts is now quite challenging. Most new models are not much better than last year's.
Hey Michael, great review. Are you using the EU rom or the Chinese Rom? Does the Chinese Rom have any major setbacks? E.g No english system language, banking apps and others blocked etc?
I have the Global version and use the Global ROM. Never flashed anything else or unlocked the bootloader. All works fine,zero troubles with apps or whatsoever.

I do use a local carrier in my country, which I feel is different to yours (Bulgaria, Vivacom). Better check the supported frequencies in your state, so that you know if it will work fine.
I haven't recieved my miui 13 update yet, i have used a regular xioami phone before but experience in non flagship phone is way batter then compared to their flagship phone
So I got the Chinese ROM version but then went through a painfully long process to install the Global ROM... and now I am having mobile data issues. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't, and when it does, it is painfully slow so I had to manually restarted my phone for the data to work normally again. Just wondering if anyone is having the same issues with Mi 11 Ultra.
Hi Michael. I am looking at getting a Mi11 Ultra to use as my daily driver for work. Would you recommend this? I currently have a Redmi K30 Ultra which is a great phone but one issue I have always had has been the notifications not displaying for my different apps being a Chinese ROM. I was wondering if you experience anything similar with the Mi11 Ultra?
Notifications are shown and all works fine with the Global ROM. You may try playing with the battery saving settings on your phone - this could help as well.
The CHinese version doesn't originally arrive with Google services and most sellers online flash the international ROM. This requires some system modifications and may result in inability to use services like Google Pay.
I'm an android user but one thing that it seems difficult for android phones to beat iphone is the laggy problem that usually came after couple months of use. Sometimes need to clear the cache or rebooting the phone.

There's a little trick, but it is limited to 15 seconds only: go to the MIUI camera settings, configure the long press of the volume button to record video, go into photo shooting mode, choose the rear display and - there we go 😇
I had the flashed EU Rom and had a nightmare with it and had to get rid in the end .. I was gutted as it was a brilliant phone with great cameras .. They need to do a proper global version but I ain’t holding my breath for Xiaomi 12 ultra
Hey buddy, I own the OP 9 pro and I had the 8 pro. Im loving it due to the form factor and the low noise recording indoor. Can ou sum up what to expect if I switch to the Mi11 Ultra? (Beside the form factor. I had the S21 Ultra which is also heavy, btw: Video was rubbish, totally overprocessed)
You will have better camera, a lot better battery life. And a large thing in your pocket. Software on Mi 11 Ultra after 12.5 is faster. And if you use a debloater tool and remove some of the in-built apps - it will be fantastic.
I know I should pay more attention to the signs on these t-shirts, but I am mostly looking at the colors 😇 It is made by Cropp, and they do have some quite crazy ideas usually.
it is fine - both have the same hardware, with the Chinese edition supporting slightly different bands. If you are happy with it - just enjoy. The only issue you may have is related to Google Play and similar services - if the bootloader is unlocked it may not let you use them.
Try Mcpro24fps it records 4k videos in 24fps 30fps 60fps 120fps !!! You can use all the lenses n record in 10bit color and all the great goodies.... Logs videos in all the different formats and much more
Chinese rom a lots of bug. Theres no sound after using adapter to connect 3.5mm jack earphone. 1 years i have used this phone i found a lots of bug problem xiaomi still can't fix half of bugs problem
I am loving this device all my life, however I find the Bluetooth not connecting to other device that I've got, e.g Sony wh1000xm4 anc headphone neither to my insta 360 how camera. Is this a global version of this device experience thing?

@@TechMishka yes very weird, by all standards it's an original phone and I don't get error message, and I've also added them to game mode but anytime I try opening those big ones, game mode starts and closes it again
Have returned here just to be certain I am not the only one who is seemingly stuck with the '2022-05-01' Android SECURITY 'Outdate' that still goes with MIUI Global version Stable 13 0 4 0. I constantly perform OTA update checking, yet without luck. While my second phone on roaming -- a now almost jurassic Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Exynos -- has a less outdated 'SECURITY Patch Level: 1 July 2022', I do tend to think Xiaomi does not really have a dedicated Software Development Team looking after so-called flagships unless 11 Ultra has rather quickly been relegated to the low-end, entry-level category. Considering my year-long use of the phone anyway, "ULTRA" is proving to be just a marketing v0od0oism as far as updates and peace of mind go.

After using this phone for around 6 months, i would say the phone is just getting better and faster with the updates. Im using CN ROM 13.0.13 now even after unlcoking the bootloader😂. Im from Malaysia, i tried the EU ROM and there were GPS problem on alot of apps, they are locked in weird places and i couldnt find a way around it, then i went to try the GLOBAL ROM and i think it wasn't really that great when i have the CN and EU version in mind. The CN ROM is just solid right now, not much frustrating problems so far. The one thing that is weird to me is, all the banking apps work, there's one app that doesn't is MCD, it just says my device has safety breach as it might be rooted, it was funny as hell and ya i couldn't use mcd deals 😂😂 but doing payments with 0 problem, weird. If anyone is planning to buy this phone with CN Rom, i would say just do it, the price drop in my country has been quite big, and its one of the best smartphone of its price if you dont mind of its lil heavy weight and the bulky camera.
Hey, awesome summary! A usual reason for some apps not working is the unlocked bootloader - try to lock it back (backup all the data prior to this task!) and it may fix it.
Are you able to use Google app store and Google services normally out of the box with the CN rom ? Or did you have to go through additional steps to install App store and services?
Hi neighbor 😆 can u clarify about the call recording feature for the CN ROM? Is the call recording warning "this call is being recorded" disabled with the CN ROM?
Fingerprint works great on my end. The mic is excellent - among the best out there. Sounds like yours has an issue - make sure to send it to Xiaomi for repair. This should be covered by the warranty.

Hm, I tend to somewhat disagree. Fingerprint here is quite fine (do you have a screen protector?). As for the microphone - if there really is an issue, it should be covered by the warranty.
@@TechMishka every time I record voice messages on whatsapp, it send empty voice messages. I have contacted the factory, they sent me a new phone, the new phone has the same problem as well. Because here we use a VPN so we could use whatsapp

Chinese Rom works flawlessly, with MIUI 13 the camera got better and the second screen can be used in all camera mods.

While I totally adore the Ultra's cameras, I need a lighter phone and use 12T Pro at the moment.

They're still charging at 20w 😂 Xiaomi are at 120w and fully charge in 18 mins on new ones. It's just crazy the difference and I don't understand why so many reviewers are lying! They all paid? No idea but im a tech freak (mainly with building gaming rigs) and I spend a lot of time with phones. The last decent Samsung and was best phone at the time was the S9+ and after that they just went cheap and OnePlus shit all over them! They were great for a while then they just stopped trying. Not one brand is close to Xiaomi right now but things change a lot with phones so I don't always stick with one brand, unless I'm using iPhone at the time.
Trust me to get a decent Chinese phone and you will not look back!

I just came across your video. I have been using the Mi 11 Ultra since it was launched. It has its flaws sure, but it gets the job done, especially with the camera. However, I love how you mentioned using Gcam on it. Would like to know what Gcam mod were you using, as most of them on my phone don't really get the job done.
I got my version long time ago and there for sure are better editions already. Check the XDA forums about it.

Based on what we see happening this year - I doubt a new Ultra model will bring too many innovations. There are thermal management issues with Snapdragon 8 Gen1. And sourcing different parts is now quite challenging. Most new models are not much better than last year's.

Hey Michael, great review. Are you using the EU rom or the Chinese Rom? Does the Chinese Rom have any major setbacks? E.g No english system language, banking apps and others blocked etc?
I have the Global version and use the Global ROM. Never flashed anything else or unlocked the bootloader. All works fine,zero troubles with apps or whatsoever.

I do use a local carrier in my country, which I feel is different to yours (Bulgaria, Vivacom). Better check the supported frequencies in your state, so that you know if it will work fine.
I haven't recieved my miui 13 update yet, i have used a regular xioami phone before but experience in non flagship phone is way batter then compared to their flagship phone

When I testing Mi11Ultra (long time ado 😉😁) was not good working g-cam for Samsung matrix... I use Manual Camera DSLR. Try it 😉

Mi 11 is a great phone in my opinion. Not sure if the price stretch to the 11 Ultra is that well justified.

So I got the Chinese ROM version but then went through a painfully long process to install the Global ROM... and now I am having mobile data issues. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't, and when it does, it is painfully slow so I had to manually restarted my phone for the data to work normally again. Just wondering if anyone is having the same issues with Mi 11 Ultra.
Hi Michael. I am looking at getting a Mi11 Ultra to use as my daily driver for work. Would you recommend this? I currently have a Redmi K30 Ultra which is a great phone but one issue I have always had has been the notifications not displaying for my different apps being a Chinese ROM. I was wondering if you experience anything similar with the Mi11 Ultra?
Notifications are shown and all works fine with the Global ROM.
You may try playing with the battery saving settings on your phone - this could help as well.

The CHinese version doesn't originally arrive with Google services and most sellers online flash the international ROM. This requires some system modifications and may result in inability to use services like Google Pay.

There's a little trick, but it is limited to 15 seconds only: go to the MIUI camera settings, configure the long press of the volume button to record video, go into photo shooting mode, choose the rear display and - there we go 😇

I had the flashed EU Rom and had a nightmare with it and had to get rid in the end .. I was gutted as it was a brilliant phone with great cameras .. They need to do a proper global version but I ain’t holding my breath for Xiaomi 12 ultra

Hey buddy, I own the OP 9 pro and I had the 8 pro. Im loving it due to the form factor and the low noise recording indoor. Can ou sum up what to expect if I switch to the Mi11 Ultra? (Beside the form factor. I had the S21 Ultra which is also heavy, btw: Video was rubbish, totally overprocessed)
You will have better camera, a lot better battery life. And a large thing in your pocket. Software on Mi 11 Ultra after 12.5 is faster. And if you use a debloater tool and remove some of the in-built apps - it will be fantastic.

Hey, in fact only the Global version has that 'CE' tag written on it's back. The Chinese version does not. So you have the Chinese version.

it is fine - both have the same hardware, with the Chinese edition supporting slightly different bands. If you are happy with it - just enjoy. The only issue you may have is related to Google Play and similar services - if the bootloader is unlocked it may not let you use them.

Try Mcpro24fps it records 4k videos in 24fps 30fps 60fps 120fps !!! You can use all the lenses n record in 10bit color and all the great goodies.... Logs videos in all the different formats and much more

Chinese rom a lots of bug. Theres no sound after using adapter to connect 3.5mm jack earphone. 1 years i have used this phone i found a lots of bug problem xiaomi still can't fix half of bugs problem

Have returned here just to be certain I am not the only one who is seemingly stuck with the '2022-05-01' Android SECURITY 'Outdate' that still goes with MIUI Global version Stable 13 0 4 0. I constantly perform OTA update checking, yet without luck. While my second phone on roaming -- a now almost jurassic Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Exynos -- has a less outdated 'SECURITY Patch Level: 1 July 2022', I do tend to think Xiaomi does not really have a dedicated Software Development Team looking after so-called flagships unless 11 Ultra has rather quickly been relegated to the low-end, entry-level category. Considering my year-long use of the phone anyway, "ULTRA" is proving to be just a marketing v0od0oism as far as updates and peace of mind go.
I will have to check the security patch level on mine, but I can remember seeing an update coming in last week.

After using this phone for around 6 months, i would say the phone is just getting better and faster with the updates. Im using CN ROM 13.0.13 now even after unlcoking the bootloader😂.
Im from Malaysia, i tried the EU ROM and there were GPS problem on alot of apps, they are locked in weird places and i couldnt find a way around it, then i went to try the GLOBAL ROM and i think it wasn't really that great when i have the CN and EU version in mind. The CN ROM is just solid right now, not much frustrating problems so far.
The one thing that is weird to me is, all the banking apps work, there's one app that doesn't is MCD, it just says my device has safety breach as it might be rooted, it was funny as hell and ya i couldn't use mcd deals 😂😂 but doing payments with 0 problem, weird.
If anyone is planning to buy this phone with CN Rom, i would say just do it, the price drop in my country has been quite big, and its one of the best smartphone of its price if you dont mind of its lil heavy weight and the bulky camera.

A usual reason for some apps not working is the unlocked bootloader - try to lock it back (backup all the data prior to this task!) and it may fix it.
Are you able to use Google app store and Google services normally out of the box with the CN rom ? Or did you have to go through additional steps to install App store and services?

Fingerprint works great on my end. The mic is excellent - among the best out there. Sounds like yours has an issue - make sure to send it to Xiaomi for repair. This should be covered by the warranty.

Hm, I tend to somewhat disagree. Fingerprint here is quite fine (do you have a screen protector?). As for the microphone - if there really is an issue, it should be covered by the warranty.
