To anyone new to pop collecting (or collecting anything, for that matter), remember the golden rule: if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
I agree. For me, I think I got to comfortable. I've found plenty of good deals in the past so some are probably too good to be true lol
Not always. I bought a near mint headless Ned stark pop for $150. Actually it was really cool because when I got it, I noticed the shading of the box was different and I messaged the seller thinking I got scammed, but turns out it’s even rarer because it was a misprint. So I could sell it for thousands more than people already sell it for, probably.
I don't think anyone would sell a breaking bad pop for only $10 unless it's a second hand store that is clueless 😅

Bumps in the road happen. That could happen to any of us, good for you it was only a few bucks instead of big time money. Nice to see you keep moving in the right direction without getting super angry about that mistake. You did a good thing showing how that happened, especially for newer collectors, that information could help all of us be more aware of what we are getting ourselves into when buying pops from strangers. Can't wait to see how much you turn today's purchases into towards building this collection from the ground up. Great job so far Mason! Hard work, looking around, finding good deals etc. is the way to go for everybody looking to build their collection, whether you have been collecting for years or just started yesterday. When you only paid $10, and not $100+, that was a clear giveaway to me this pop would be fake. Or at least have a higher probability of being fake.
You'd be surprised. I've found plenty of $100+ pops for $10 or less. Great example, the sailor moon pop at the end of this video

Some of the comments are weird here lol, You've gotten plenty of expensive pops for cheap. Not hard to believe you'd find a $100+ pop for $10 and it happened to be fake. Things happen lol. Deals exist guys and not everyone knows what they have.

I've bought two fakes in my time as a collector. you know about one of them. The other was a Freddy Funko as pennywise off of eBay. Thankfully I was refunded for the one and I sold the Freddy Funko to a nice guy on a Facebook Funko page. And yes, he knew it was fake.

Yo bro! Great video man! Sucks how that pop was a fake, trust me the mall where I’m at have vendors that sell a lot of fake funko pops. So I now know how to tell the difference on a real and fake funko pop. Love that yondu pop as well! Hope you have a great day!

@@johnnykleen i can recommend some tips. Right off the bat, if the box is very colored or looks too bright it’s fake. You can always trust stores like Walmart, target, GameStop, box lunch, hot topic, fye, and other major retailers, because they are official retailers. However, if your buying from a person from eBay or Facebook, always look at the box and the pop logo on the top left. One way to tell if you have a real pop is to open the bottom of the box and seeing if it says”funko” on the shoe/foot on the figure, and that’s how you can tell it’s real!😁

I don't think greed has anything to with it. I just have some so many deals with people I just didn't even think twice about it.

Those deals were insane! The Heisenberg was a letdown, but $10 isn't anything to sweat. The rest definitely made up for it. I have no knowledge of fakes, but I feel that even the fake took way more than $10 to make 😅

$10 is pretty good even for a fake IMO. The eBay fakes from China typically range between $25 - $85, depending on how much the actual Pop they're based off of are going for. Blacklight Ghostrider fake's, for example, start at around $50. If you wanted to create an out of box Marvel blacklight display and didn't want to remove the original, then a fake would be a good cheaper alternative since it glows under a blacklight just the same.
I have only bough sticker swap 3 time and they were big hits too... people are crazy
Funny enough I saw the sailor moon sailor Saturn one for 4 dollars in the marketplace but should have known wasatch beat me to that deal

I, luckily, have only gotten one fake. It was Loki from Endgame that I got for $30 off eBay. At the time I just thought it was a great deal, I didn't realize fakes were even a thing. Since I've been trying to complete that series, I've kinda just accepted it, so I can feel it's completed when I get the last couple of figures. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll ever fully complete any collection since it seems silly when there is a pop with three different paint jobs, for example. Same thing when I have a chase or something of a common. Why get both? I have too many collections I'm trying to complete, and it's a bit much. Lately I've wondered if it's worth it. 867 Pops worth over $18k, and NOW I'm wondering if it's worth it. smh
the dead giveaway on the fake Heisenberg is the meth beaker. The fake one is completely blue (ie completely full). The genuine one has a white strip at the top (ie not full). I used to own one and had to research carefully when I was selling to convince people mine was genuine.

I have the entire Breaking Bad collection I had no idea they made fakes for them! Luckily I bought all the commons literally when they came out back in the day, you got me wanting to double check the exclusives and the two limited pieces! Does anyone know what all fakes they have in the set?
As far as I know, the only ones that don't have fakes are season one walter, blue heisenberg, and the crystal ship. The rest have fakes.

Usually if it is too good of a deal, that should be a red flag. “If it sounds to good to be true…” On the other hand, you only lost $10. So, that could have been a lot worse. Definitely, a good lesson for all collectors and especially new ones.
