Hey Billy Boy. Yeah, I wouldn't do this on a large scale. It is handy though if you have a couple of hives needing a boost and don't have anything mixed up.
Looks like HiveAlive is coming out with a nice variety of products, curious what you would think not only feeding this straight like you did here but also mixing some of this into some thicker 2 to 1 syrup so perhaps they would store some in comb for later use.
Hey Bowhunters. Yeah, they are definitely bringing some different products to us. I wouldn't mix this because it's in the bags - that's the selling point to me is that it's handy. If I was going to mix pre-mixed product, I'd use something that's in a 5 gallon bucket, like pro-sweet. I bet that's something they come out with in the future from HiveAlive.
Ya I would not mix these bags . If needed to mix I would use the bottles that are concentrated an mix by instructions on bottling label. You don’t know how they have the bags mixed . Just a thought.’
I haven't seen where they sell pre-mixed feed in buckets or containers. 1/2 gallon of whatever liquid you're talking about would be about 4.5 lbs. That's about $6.66/lb. This package is 18lbs of liquid for $50, that's 2.77/lb. Not sure what your referring to though, as this is sold in packets only that I've seen, not by the gallon, it's ready to feed, no container needed.
Ah, yes. I sell half gallons for $55. My small 1 lb containers I sell for $10, so that's $5 off of 6 lbs, and I offer to throw in a 1lb for half price to make it $60 for the 7 lbs total. I sell a bunch that way, just sold one today. lol Farmer's markets around her getting $15-16 per pound and people don't blink at it. I don't sell at the farmer's market though, I don't have any problem with them coming to me. Of my 21 buckets, I'm down to 3. Take care!
For a winter nuc, would you suggest the 7 or 10 frame Apimaye hive. Just in case I catch a ball swarm I would like to be able to over winter both sibes. Thank you. I know you have some experience in this product.
I’d recommend the 7. The ten is a normal ten frame size. If it’s growing and is ready for a ten, and you want some Apimaye ten frame equipment then go with the ten. If it’s still pretty small the. Go with the seven. I have two of the double nuc 7 frames, which is two three frame nucs with the divider. They are great, with the integrated feeders, for getting small hives going in the spring with swarm cell splits.
Hi from southern New Zealand 👋 spring is being springy and it just sprung back to winter again 😂 gotta move colony's especially into my thyme migration apairy so I'm actually pleased about the weather. Starting to see the odd thyme flower so it's almost on us😂 I love hive alive, the fondant is awesome 👍 I save the corner stuff and mix it into a syrup batch myself 😅 but I really have noticed results using hive alive products...which reminds me I have to make a shim today for a hobbyist I'm helping I was supposed to make it last night😅 great video 👍 oh BTW just a quick question for anyone. Does anyone have any suggestions for treating deformed wing virus, a hobbyist I'm helping has it pretty bad. I've given him a bunch of mite strips and got them in his affected hive but I've heard thymol gel helps with deformed wing treatment. I'd suggest requeening and fresh comb but the flows two or three weeks away, and we can't use antibiotics in NZ, they're illegal to use in beehives here🤦 any thoughts would be appreciated. Great video 👍👋
Hey Manuherikia Beek! Sounds like your ramping up and we're ramping down. Yeah, I definitely had good results when using HiveAlive feed suplement, fondant and pollen patties. I'll continue to use it for sure. For that hive, I'd treat it big time for mites and give it some capped brood from another hive. I would assume the queen is fine, it's the mites getting to the larvae that's the problem. That's what I understand about the deformed wings, I could be wrong. If it continues after the mites are knocked down, then time to clean out the hive and I'd knock out all the comb and start with empty foundation and new bees.
@@JeromeBeeFarm yeah I gave him a whole bunch of bayvarol strips and taught him how to install them as soon as I realized what was happening with the DWV because I'd rather spend thirty bucks helping a hobbyist knock down mites than let him create a mite bomb that then affects my migration thyme apairy a kilometer away and there's another hobbyist about two km away from his hives that sells honey at his gate so he'd be nailed also. personally I'd agree with the requeen and give him a box of emptys to start again but he's got two hives and the other one is really weak. I slam mites so I've never had DWV but I'm wondering if there's anything that can help control the virus because our main nectar flow starts in two weeks. I've got some thymol gel coming this week I've heard it can help with DWV but I don't know myself 😂

I use the concentrate. 2tsp/gallon.
Wow, half gallon goes for $30 in NE Indiana!

Also since there is no air in there, you should not get any feed dripping out from expansion of the air.
Hey Kennith. They sucked these down empty in two days. no air.

Darren - would those Easy Feed bags fit right into your Apimaye feeder pollen box (instead of using a shim)?
I think they are too big. It would fit but the bees couldn’t get past it and it would be crammed in there.

Man, just keep them knocked down as best you can I think is all you can do at this point. Good luck!
Good vid. Hey, are you going to NAHBE in Jan?
I am planning on attending. I have my tickets and hotel reservations. I hope to see you there.
