How good is that… my old zones pal Russell Webb on the bass…. And the one and only William Stuart adamson…. Never will be forgotten by thousands upon thousands… who followed him from his magical early days.. oh the Mars bar pub nights in Glasgow tuesdays

Stuart was absolutely ahead of his time. Said it all. Too early gone but surely not forgotten, simply unforgotten and unforgettable. Skids and Big Country best things could possibly happen to my own whole life 🙂🔝❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎶🎸🎤

It's still hard to believe, but Jobbo was only 19 years old when this album was released !!

The most under-rated musician ever ? Even The Edge said he felt inadequate after hearing Stuart play.

I was lucky enough to spend about an hour with Stuart at a Big Co p.a at a shop where I was working. I was in total awe of the man and he was an absolute gentleman in ever sense we chatted about loads of things whilst eating nibbles. He signed all my old vinyls on some he said "be lucky" makes me pretty emotional looking at them now.
sorry to be a bit maudling but I was blessed not lucky!
btw he wouldn't sign Joy! lol

The Skids - Arena (The Venue '81)
This 1981 version is the best. Adamson's guitar... It's raw and heartbreaking.

The Skids had some great moments. Adore this. The Absolute Game is very underrated. There's a few belters, but Stuart's guitar on this is so lovely.

Not many can follow guitar in William Stuart adamson s footsteps…unique style with flare.. he left school with a lot of high qualifications.. Stuart folk don,t know that… one educated young man who chose a unique way of life in the cut and thrust world of fame and should have made a fortune from his talent.. but did,not he enjoyed the ride… loved to play live… but w.s.a. Always knew the high rise towers of the vultures where lurking behind the curtains… just like mick ronson.. instrumental in creating something special.. only too leave to soon.. terrible loss of a lovely human being.. hope there is another place for all the good souls..

RJ would be the first to admit he’s not in Stuart’s league although he’s putting what he does know to good use. As it’s live, he’s not up in the mix but the repeated chords allow Stuart to layer over the rhythm lines without overplaying or trying to be a ‘bedroom’ soloist fulfilling all the roles. Maybe it was one reason why Adamson gravitated to a fully-orchestrated, dual guitar line-up with Bruce. I’d also note that Russell’s playing, like Tony afterwards, is much more interesting than a simple thump on the bottom string and together with complimenting fx.

Best guitar based rock band ever.Richard Jobson's input was paramount.Big country less quirky. The tracks by the skids very leftfield at times. The Bill Nelson inspired 'days in Europa '' LP is as perfect as you could get by any band anywhere in any time !

    That is very special.
Was blessed to meet Stuart a few times and an abiding memory is doing air guitar to Scared to dance with him Backstage at Wembley.
Love his guitar playing on this too.

This and other short sessions The Skids did on Scottish television were often broadcast in what is now the teatime “news hour”. So you settled down for a bite to eat and your fave band pops up, cutlery is discarded and the tea goes cold; no microwave to re-energise it it’s either eaten as is, grilled or the dog’s dinner but you’re already sated with the mini-gig in your living room.

fantastic - I loved all their stuff. Watching Stuart reminds me of my heroes who are no longer about - Strummer, Joey Ramone... It's not looking good for Weller

Stuart best guitar playing was in the Skids but his ability to mix vocals with guitars was at its best with Big Country.

Technically gifted guitar master… w,s,a… and song writer… strange when a lot of good souls leave early….. years ago progressive rock bands.. were unapproachable….. guys like stuart and many others like him… had time for the fans…. Esp Robert Ian mcnabb…
