GSrider911 thats a alittle bit of a long story. 😂 So the parking around here is really bad if your not home by 8 pm then your screwd. And this garages are mostly used for storage. So we would just park in front of the garages. How ever you get a fine if you are parked in a driveway (even your own). So we worked it out with the town that if we block off the garages and curb the drive way they will allow us to pave half our yard and turn it into a parking lot. So that’s what we did and now can fit ten cars in there Instead of the 3-4 cars. They wanted posts in front of the garages to guarantee they wouldn’t be for more vehicles anymore.
I bought one of those hooks to retrieve some old tires from a shallow river. It worked great for that purpose. I don’t know if I will ever find another use for it. It might make a decent boat anchor. Thanks for the suggestion!
Gotta say this much: the steel hook can ABSOLUTELY take more weight than an aluminium cam, it just doesn't have the same grip quality and highly engineered build, put the same effort they put into cams into a grappling hook or even just a steel nut with a stem and I promise you it will make aluminium cams look like toys when it comes to load (while of course being much heavier).
No, it could work, if: 1: you had a grappling hook gun, and other equipment. 2, and most importantly: If you had no concern about the building your firing it at.
🤔 Well, you forgot the requirement that the grappling hook MUST have a self-launching mechanism, and the entire apparatus must easily compress down into a small enough form factor that it can fit into a Batman-style utility belt holster of roughly 2" x 3" x 1". @@randomassassin8898 My go to for getting down sketchy terrain that's not really on the trail exactly or maybe on a crappy trail is a big whip like leash of some sort (ok not just anything but obviously something made of a material designed for climbing purposes or something similar that can easily handle body loads and then some to be safe) to just sling it around a tree or whatever and then hold on to that as I move myself down to another tree and then just keep doing it that way so that I'm always holding on to something. It's probably not necessary sometimes but for me I really don't care, the peace of mind is worth it, so many people get hurt or die just scrambling around like that because it's so much easier compared to climbing that they get complacent but I don't think it's worth the risk sometimes to not be anchored in somehow and that's just such a quick and easy way to do it. All you have to do is keep slinging it around something and then wrap them around your hand enough times that it's not going anywhere and boom if you're like me and aren't willing to take risks on sketchy terrain sometimes I think it's a very nice safety valve if you do it properly.
