Yeah this is the typical HR experience, geared ass players dying to PVE and dropping all their loot for you, and then other geared ass players who just lets you waltz pass them and don't immediately shoot you with two crossbows and a longbow.
I know they didn’t die to pve because I killed them.

Good question. Not sure because I think bard's chest song doesn't work with his luck so might be the same for barb. Also I'm pretty sure breaking chests in general give worse loot but that might be old news or just never actually confirmed
