    Relegation and promotion in a sport is AMAZING.
    Honestly, I'd love to see the NHL incorporate levels like the AHL/OHL, etc. and begin having it in their seasons.
    The possibility of losing 3 teams and getting 3 new ones every season is a great way to shake things up and make the sport even more interesting. IMO

      It seems strange and boring to me to just have the same teams in the league all the time. The English football league is extremely competitive and also has very loyal fans. You have to stay with your club even when they're doing badly. It's not uncommon for several generations of a family to support the same club.

      its a great system and makes it really interesting at the end of the season to watch the lower end teams fighting to not be regulated. Makes for some great futball. Also what I like is that even in the premier league there are special European tournaments that your club can qualify for based on your placement in the top 6 or top 7.

    • @mtcanales99
      @mtcanales99 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Pro-rel is an interesting facet and I could see hockey and college football (as suggested below) adopting it, but unfortunately American owners will never go for it because it is too risky financially. My guess is if England did not already have football/soccer and created the Premier League like the US did with MLS, they would have never incorporated pro-rel because of the possibility of losing money. Pro-rel is great for fans and creating competition and intrigue but I doubt any football club owner truly wants it. Even promoted clubs may lose money if they are sent back down. I'd be interested to see how Fulham, Norwich City supporters feel about yo-yoing every year.

    If anyone is unaware, there are even more than 5 tiers/leagues in English football. Wrexham are in the Vanarama National league but there's a vanarama north and south league below that and then even more leagues below that again. It's such a big part of the sport.
    Also Wrexham are a Welsh team not English (obviously) and are one of only a few Welsh teams in the English leagues (Because they were founded before there was a Welsh league).

      I'm pretty sure that is not how promotion and relegation in football generally works :D. More than likely their team will move up and down within a couple of leagues for many years. Unless they pump lots of money into the club in which case they might get promoted a few times. But the higher they climb, the more money there is in other clubs as well, making it increasingly difficult. It's a bit akin to buying penny stocks. Sure the growth potential theoretically is enormous, but practically none of them will really grow that much. So I really don't think these guys are in it for the money :D

    This is for Ryan Reynolds: I think maybe when talking about someone like Rob, instead of saying that his qualities are "integrity, SMART, innovative, interesting," and pausing only to have them prompt you for more, maybe substitute "Intelligent" for "Smart", and then you could say you were only going through the attributes that start with the letter " I" today, any others would have to fall on the days that are sponsored by that days letter. Today was brought to you by "I", so.... Um. Never mind. It sounded a lot better and simpler in my head as I was falling asleep. Goodnight.
    :)

      To be fair it's now officially a city as of 01/09/22 (09/01/2022 for those not in "rest of world").

    • @BadgerUKvideo
      @BadgerUKvideo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Peoples Republic of Ninj They stopped the cathedral thing when I was young. I think it was roughly 20 - 30 years ago. I'm going to say 1990 ish.
      You might be getting confused with The City of London and London, the city. The reason for The City of London being a city in it's own right is to allow for differing legal/ financial frameworks.
      edit: Just googled it. I was incorrect. It was 1889 when they stopped the cathedral thing. I must have got confused with when they made Rutland a county.

    • @BadgerUKvideo
      @BadgerUKvideo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Peoples Republic of Ninj Errrrr. The government website says it's a city. ONS says it's a city. Wikipedia says it's a city. Humans call it a city.
      What source are you using? I thought the government website and ONS were the official sources. Is there a legal document that supersedes those two?
      edit: just googled it and the Queen raised the London borough to the tile of city in December 1963. I'm not aware of a higher authority than the Crown itself. Are you absolutely sure?
      edit: edit: I've found the legislation upon which she made that decision. It's the London Government Act 1963 (passed on 31st July) and it looks like that was the template they used for "Greater Authorities" or whatever we call them.
      I've got to be honest though, I studied UK politics years ago. I'm certainly no where close to an expert at this point and don't have time to read through the law specifically at the moment.

      @@BadgerUKvideo I'm British but you've found out more than I knew! 😊
      Tbh I believe most people think of London as a city but often refer to it colloquially as 'London town'. It encompasses 'The City' of London (another colloquialism for the financial district) and The City of Westminster (with its cathedral). I don't know about the technicalities of the three areas these days but I think it's safe to say that the whole of London is a city in reality, if not on paper. 😊👍

    • @BadgerUKvideo
      @BadgerUKvideo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@musicloverlondon6070 Yeah, same.
      I don't think there's even a point in thinking if "The City" unless you're a finance guy or a tourist.
