In my opinion, it really had to do with the sponsorship. The amount of money sponsors paid was massive back then, far more than any current sponsorship deal, so the entire sport, from the events to the on-track product responded accordingly. It truly was a great time to be a Nascar fan (except maybe in the ticket prices).
@@spicytsunami775 I was watching back in '06 but only got to see the last gen 6 race at Bristol plus 2022 and 2023 Night races with gen 7. Gen 6 was a better race.
It can't because it's basically an imsa/sportscar. The gen-4 model was basically an exceptionally high horsepower late model, if we're ever going to get back to that kind of racing, it needs to be with that type of platform. The current xfin car is the closest thing we have presently to what that generation of car was.
I feel your pain. Always liked Jeff and ward a lot. And always laughed at how different they sound lol. I don’t have a favorite driver I like all of them minus just a couple.
Short track racing was much better back then. I’ll always love nascar and all forms of racing and I get nascar fans can be ridiculous and never happy. I’ll always watch but the new car we see is terrible for short track racing. Hope they can figure it out. Still better than the end of the last era car with the stupid spoiler and no power. These cars back then and the 2014 and around there cars were great but nothing is ever perfect
Screaming, crying, throwing up. The race I watched on VHS tape a million times as a kid is now a high-def TH-cam upload. Thank you so much.
Just another race
Throwing up?
@@alanluscombe8a553 yea wtf are they doing while watching
@@spicytsunami775right, guess I’m the odd one out!
It feels like the sport and the broadcast had more soul back then

I wish I could have went to a race back then and saw all those mega star drivers race in person.
@@PaperBanjo64 I saw a nascar race in 06 at california speedway, it was insane how many people were there

It really did
I'm stoked that you're posting all of these. Keep posting them please!
NASCAR needs to do whatever it takes to get the NextGen car to race like this
I wholeheartedly agree but that would definitely take massive changes, but I'd watch again if NASCAR was like this again.
They just need to go back to this car altogether.
900 HP

i love that i open with a lessson for dale jr on how to drive martinsville.
the fact he only won here once and is being taught only makes it better

Bill Weber and Benny Parsons (R.I.P) I miss these broadcasts from the golden age on a Sunday in 2006.
4:31 Wally savages Weber lmao

Yep lol. And rip Benny parsons he was wonderful for the sport for decades
Dude. How do you manage to make it look so beautifully crisp and clear? What software do you use?
Nothing special. This is the quality when they were recorded back when they aired.
Jeff gordon.. Leader, 🏁

As a Jeff Burton fan....this race was depressing.

@@alanluscombe8a553 as a Bobby Labonte Fan .... this would be closest to his wins.... never again in cup
I miss this. This was the NASCAR I knew. Not a fan of what it is today.
