Dang, I passed up on the big set of Mac drill bits in great condition. They were used and just didn't know what I was looking at. Did some research and then sped back to the pawn shop. Someone much smarter than me had already bought them.

One of my first purchases was Mac 1/2 impacts 35 yrs ago .Most are still original with no knurling & missing an R in the part # . I have 1 SAE with no knurling, had them in deep but back along I traded up to Snap on (so I thought) looking back I really am impressed with how they have held up..most used & abused socket sets..Thanks Buddy.👍

I'm liking that stubby drill bit set. My favourite MAC tool is their pocket pry bar and the 24" long, 1/4 drive, locking extension.

Yeah Mac’s impacts hold up so well and yet don’t beat up my impact anvils.
I was literally commenting on this same thing as you said in the video to my Mac dealer yesterday.
Also love the intermediate 1/4 chromes for random things like worm gear clamps. They fit so precisely and the length is perfect.

CP been rolling thru your older videos, I agree wholeheartedly MAC Cobalt drill bits at full warranty verses Snap On at 1/4" and larger MATCO 21/64 and larger, I as well own several additional drill bits, sized for my RBRT and Harris rebrand spiral extractors.

    Hello again CP
Thank you for another Great Video. I can agree with you about the Mac Ratchet. I have a 1/4" drive Hylok ratchet that was put through its paces. On jet engine compressor disassembly. If I remember correctly, about 700 hylok fasteners had to be removed. It's not my everyday tool now. But then it was my money maker!!! I haven't used other mac tools. Most of mine are old school Craftsman. Again thank you

I wish we had a Mac truck so much. The only Mac tools I own are 2 1/4 ratchets,a 3/8 3 inch chrome extension,a few oddball sockets, and a chisel. I'd like to get their antivibe hammers.

I love my MAC cordless tools. My ratchet has been through more muck and grime than it should have and still kicks around. And I framed a basement on only 3 12v batteries using my MAC drill. Incredible.
Torx patents have expired. But, the name Torx is still a trademark that requires factories to maintain quality standards and fees to use the name. Star is the generic name and could be good quality or could be low quality depending on the brand. Stick with something with the Torx name for more consistent quality.

  • @asmautollc
    @asmautollc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I agree about the RBRT. I’ve never really needed the torx where using the right torx would have worked and I’ve worked on my fair share of rusty Jeeps. The hex on the other hand is a godsend on smaller hex fasteners.

    • @colemanbonner

I 99% agree, except for ONE bolt. The newer ZJs and others use a T55 or t60, can’t remember which, on the rear track bar.The RBRT has made the difference on that one bolt, more than once.

I have almost all of the Mac precision torque Wrenches and love them especially my new large 20mm-32mm I just got a couple weeks ago for doing alignments. Those are some large S.O.B.'s and make life so much easier cranking the tie rod nuts loose in almost all cases. But if I ever run into 1 that won't turn I just bust out my nut buster and heat it up for 10 secs and they knock em loose like it's nothing.

Ya know, I’ve had my Mac 2” mini grinder for probably 10+ years now and that thing is still a beast. Such a versatile tool. So many uses. Also, I use the Exact same locking 1/4” hex adapter in my cordless 1/4” hex gun. I cannot imagine not having the locking end on it or having just a 1/4” cordless impact gun. I like your style, Chad🫡🫡🫡

It's funny to hear people talk about having only metric sizes in their tool boxes (I realize you have sae, just not there). Growing up on a farm in the midwest our boxes were pretty well top-to-bottom standard sizes, with only a small dark corner of a cabinet relegated to housing an odd wrench or socket in a mm size we needed years ago. Honestly if you even brought up the word metric it was cause for people around you to spit on the ground lol. Different world different time I suppose.

I think I know what Mac did with their drill bits….i could be wrong. For many years they had no warranty. They were considered to be disposable items. I agree on this but many buyers thought they should be replaced at no charge. They would whine and whine. As a result a lot of dealers simply sucked it up and ate them. This was a constant complaint. Suddenly the prices went through the roof! AND they had a lifetime warranty! Brilliant decision on Mac’s part! Again, I could be wrong on this?

Sadly in the area I live in mac tool dealers only pop up every 5-10 years then quickly go out of business. I have bought mac tools several times over the years. When the tool breaks there is nobody to warranty anything so I end up buying a replacement from snapon,Cornwell or Matco. I will never buy another mac tool again just for that reason unless I move to another state where things are different. I feel really bad for anyone who becomes a Mac dealer in this area because you know they are not going to make any money and have to sell their business in less than 1 year.

@@CPthetooladdict yes I could get online and ship my tools in for repair and wait for a replacement to ship back but when you have a good snapon,Cornwell and Matco dealer that come by your shop every week?? I work long hours and have been a professional technician for 28 years it's just one more hassle to juggle. But Mac tools are as good as the other guys in my opinion. I have seen 4 good guys who were Mac dealers in my area over the years really struggle because alot of shops have a bad taste in their mouth and are very rude and even won't let them in their shops. But I have bought well over 30k worth of Mac tools over the years.

Throw those mac burr sets in the trash and get a good jet 6 piece set. Save yourself the head ache of the tips breaking off the first minute of use.

Mac Tools does not like to warranty drillbits at all. In the last 12 years all the different Mac guys I’ve had always stall and delay warranty on drillbits. To where it’s not worth it hassling them for warranties. Do not buy Mac drill bits
Also I’ve had Mac dealers tell me only one or two bits per month can be warrantied
