    I wonder if UP will reclaim the 4014's tender once it's restored.

    • @peterrosenquist
      @peterrosenquist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That will happen as they will do a tender swap once the tender is converted to oil. 3985 will reclaim her original tender by then.

    Sad to see 3985 in such a pitiful state. Glad she's going to new loving owners. And 5511 will finally get a chance to shine. She's been a hangar queen since retirement.

      Not new owners, 3985 will go back to UP once restored to operation

      @@KreativeKng They were donated to the museum.

      @@KreativeKng You're thinking about the tender, not the locomotive. 3985 went east with 4014's tender because the Big Boy is currently using 3985s tender. 3985 is going to get its original tender back when it returns to service, so 4014s tender will have to be rebuilt and converted for oil burning. Once it's rebuilt, the tender will go back to to Cheyenne, and be reunited with 4014. 3985s tender will then go to Illinois and be reunited with the Challenger. 3985 is no longer owned by the railroad, so it's not going back to Cheyenne after restoration. That's why the locomotives were donated, so they could be restored to run again.

    • @davidng2336
      @davidng2336 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KreativeKng not true. However, the donation agreement does give UP the option to reclaim the equipment upon reimbursing the costs.
