Fighting a full-fledged war is bloody expensive and a risky affair as you must have realized after losing part of your country in 1971. Even a limited war will be detrimental both for India and Pakistan, but India has the economy to put things back on track sometime in the distant future but for an economically weak country, plagued with sectarian faultlines, can set Pakistan back by 20-30 years. Shooting down a 1970's era enemy plane proves nothing. That enemy has already DIVIDED your country long back and has the potential to do it again. I always wish for peace between India and Pakistan but the intention of my comment is to highlight obvious facts which, as people are describing him as "intelligent professor", fails to realize(along with the majority of my fellow neighbors).
