    Very good video and good advice. Oil pump removal isn't that difficult on the M62, but it is important to do it right and take the time needed to do it properly.

    When locking the flywheel in place does the pin match up, or might there be a need to move the flywheel? If moving the flywheel is required, how can that be achieved? Amazon doesn’t have that particular pin. Could I use a bolt or another piece of metal rod? It seems like I could as the only goal is to stop the flywheel from moving. Lastly, why would the flywheel have a chance at moving? Thanks

    • @TheKeenMechanic
      @TheKeenMechanic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Use whatever you have on hand with that diameter as long as it is tight fit. Use a ratchet on the crankshaft bolt at front of the engine to move and align the holes so you can lock the crankshaft or if easier just use an impact tool to remove the nut🤜🤛

      @@TheKeenMechanic got it. I’m heading out to the garage now to do the easier stuff like lower oil pan and the oil pump.
      It’s an Arizona, USA car. Zero rust despite being almost 24 years old. Makes working on it much easier. One owner. Older gentleman owned it until he died at 76yo. Car sat for 3 years. BMW of Scottsdale maintained. The guy even went there for oil changes. The owners wife took it for a drive and it seems like she went off the road into a dirt incline.
      Top of the upper oil pan has a split right on the top but the oil pans are not severely dented. Lower pan lip is dented.
      Needing to be replaced is Aux fan, Radiator, engine fan, fan shroud, most of the tire steering components on both side, undercarriage plastic shields, entire bumper and two fog lights. Hope to replace everything for less than $1,000. Bought the car from the insurance company for $800 with 97k miles on it. Wish I could share pics with you. Thank again. I have your videos saved on my iPad and they go under the car with me😀

      @@paperandmedals8316 Wow, thats amazing. I have never worked on a rust free car unfortunately. Cars here in the UK are rust buckets. Thanks for sharing the history of the car with me. Always nice to hear from other E38 fans. I think you can manage to find spares for 1k. Here in Europe we have a lot of chice for brand new spares and sometimes it is cheaper to buy brand new. Try to find used bumper and other parts that don't necessary have to be new but I recommend you get a new radiator at least. Best of luck and thanks for watching and appreciating my videos.
