They do. I played basketball for 1 year in my life but played against the UNLV women’s basketball team. They play against men to get better.

Ref in grey was completely biased in favor of the girls. There were so many bs calls in this game. I understand that the refs don't have the benefit of 1080p slowmotion HD replay the way I did but when every single close call goes towards one side along with a score of phantom calls it's impossible to call this game remotely fair.
Also why do the girls start with the ball at the beginning of each quarter and got the benefit of the jump ball late in the game. The boys won the tip off so the girls should have had it to start the 2nd and 4th quarters. The boys should have had it to start the 3rd quarter and gotten the jump ball. The possessions should have gone 3-2 in favor of the boys. Instead they went 4-1 in favor of the girls.

1:50 another phantom foul nobody was anywhere near #43. She made 1 of 2 ffs
5:23 called over the back. To be fair that did seem to be one of his few correct calls that benefited the girls.
5:49 another highly, highly questionable foul called. Looked to be a clean block. She made both free throws
6:33 I have no idea what the call was here. Possibly the ball was called out of bounds as it hit the wire? Nonetheless, the call made by the ref in grey predictably benefited the girls
6:51 after watching this in slow motion it’s too hard to tell for certain who it was out on. What was certain was that the ref in grey would make the call in favor of the girls
8:34 hard to tell who it was out on. Looked like it was out on the girls but can’t say for sure. Of course grey ref called it out on boys #23 seemed pretty happy with the call

It should be noted at this point that all of the girls’ points are from foul shots that they shouldn’t have even had

17:17 another shooting foul called against the boys. In all fairness this certainly appeared to be the correct call. She made 1 of 2 ffs
19:19 again the ref in grey (notice a pattern here?) calling a foot violation ( i think) on the foul shooter. The ref in black was suppose to be watching that. Cost the boys a point.
21:01 calls 3 second lane violation on girls (the ONLY 1 he called against the girls in the entire game vs numerous calls against the boys for 3 second violations) right when the girls turned it over and the boys had a fast break opportunity thus preventing it.
It needs to also be noted that this 3 second violation call against the girls did not lead to a change in possession (the boys had the ball). The call was made as soon as the girls turned the ball over to prevent the boys from getting a fast break basket. Conversely the 5 or so 3 second violations called against the boys all led to change in possessions favoring the girls. You're a fool if you think this is a coincidence.
21:43 where is the foul? again the ref in grey making the ridiculous call
22:13 again the ref in grey (from the opposite side of the court no less) calls a foul on the boys wtf??? presumably on for something they did on the rebound. If anything the 2 girls did on over the back which of course was not called. I think he called in on the black kid saying he pushed #7. Ridiculous

31:17 to be fair he did call an obvious shooting foul agains the girls. This is the second team foul against them this half
32:54 ref claimed the kid pushed one of the girls in the back which of course did not happen.
35:15 3rd team foul called against the girls. This will be important later. Note that this foul did not change which team had possession
35:23 another bullshit phantom foul called against the boys. Unlike the last foul called against the girls, this foul DID lead to a change in possession.
37:46 another bullshit call. Probably a 3 second violation though it didn’t look like anybody was in the lane.
This is the 13th highly questionable call the ref has made that led to a change in possession favoring the girls (in addition to numerous phantom shooting fouls against the boys). He has made no calls leading to a change in possession favoring the boys.
38:00 another highly questionable foul against the boys (after the girl had clearly traveled..so it shouldn’t have even mattered to begin with) that led to a boy slamming the ball on the ground in frustration drawing a technical (the tech was fair IMO even though what led up to it was BS).
When the girl missed all her free throws she, out of frustration slammed the ball against the backboard. Why no technical foul called here given that the boys’ team had just been assessed one moments earlier for slamming the ball in frustration?
39:44 clearly not a shooting foul she made both free throws here. Points the girls team should not have had. Little man in grey made the call...from the other side of the court no less.
40:49 another very close call that was called out on the boys. Im not saying it wasn’t but if just one close call went the boys way it wouldn’t be such a flagrant case of ref bias.

50:00 jump ball given to girls. Why? They started the 4th quarter with it. Possession arrow is in favor of boys.
52:26 I can’t make out what he is saying but could not possibly be a 3 second violation as the ball was shot immediately after entering the front court and I do not see a foul by him but on her. A basket (and possibly a foul shot) erased by an erroneous call. Everybody on both teams looked shocked when they found out the foul was against the boys and not the girls.

I don’t know if this is simply and oversight on the ref’s part or another case of clear bias but it is definitely not the way the game should have been called if it’s to be considered a competitive contest.

I’m not going to try to calculate what the score would have been had this game been called fairly but I think it would have been at least a 20 point win for the boys.

First I would like to compliment you on the technical quality of the video. Well done.
I came across this video out of curiosity about what age men/boys physical advantage becomes significant. While watching a few minutes of the end game I noticed some questionable calls. I then saw some comments on the bad refereeing and decided to check out the rest of the video. Wow. I don’t think I have seen such biased refereeing in my life. Some highlights:
At the end of the game:
50:00 Jump ball given to the girls even though they started the quarter with the ball (42:44). For that matter the girls started the 2nd (appropriately 11:58), and 3rd (25:24) quarters with the ball as well. The possessions should alternate, why are the girls given the throw in every time???
Also the girl has her hand on him throughout the shot. Could easily have been called a foul though I wouldn’t claim it is a clear foul as I am not sure she pushes him.
50:45 After the boy steals the ball she clearly grabs his arm. Could easily have been called an intentional foul yet no foul at all called.
52:26 I can’t make out what he is saying but could not possibly be a 3 second violation as the ball was shot immediately after entering the front court and I do not see a foul by him but on her. A basket erased by an erroneous call.
54:33 She clearly shuffles her feet for a clear traveling violation before the drive. On the shot I am not sure she was fouled either (though this is more debatable). She made these two free throws to which she was not entitled.
55:46 Her arm clearly comes down on his shoulders as he is going up for a shot. I clear foul not called. Should have been two free throws.
59:00 She clearly brought the ball down and is dribbling when he lands on her. Yet she was granted 3 free throws. Should have been a 1 and 1 and she missed her first free throw and thus would not be entitled to the 2nd free throw she made. Also, it appears she moves her pivot foot as she starts her dribble and should have been called for a traveling violation.
The boys were required to shoot 5 1-and-1’s at the end of the game. They should have been in the double bonus for at least the last two and thus should have had two more free throws.
Thus these calls at the end of the game made a five point swing (plus 4 free throws the boys should have had). Obviously would have changed the outcome of the game.
And this was just the end of the game. The biased calls occurred throughout:
1:50 Highly questionable call though it is possible he brushed her. She made 1 of 2 free throws.
5:50 Clean block called a foul. She made both free throws to which she was not entitled.
8:35 Looks to me like the ball is clearly off her. In addition she taunts him after the call-technical foul?
10:07 Hard to see for sure but doesn’t look like a foul to me and his reaction would seem to confirm this. She made both free throws. This means all 5 of the girls points in the first quarter were on questionable free throws.
12:44 Clear foul by her on him. Should have been two free throws. The three second call after this was pretty close too.
14:46 On obvious foul not called though wouldn’t have materially changed the game.
16:00 I don’t see a foul. She made one of these free throws.
22:14 I don’t see a foul. After watching several times it does look like the boy puts a hand on her but I don’t see a significant push. A questionable call and a basket for the boys erased.
25:34 Hard to tell but it looks like the ball was off her. The fact that he didn’t pursue the ball more aggressively would suggest this too. Yet the ball was given to the girls. On its own a reasonable call but
28:46 Another clean block called a foul. She misses these free throws.
38:00 So many problems here. She travels and then a bad foul call given. Out of frustration he bounces the ball off the floor for a technical foul (reasonable in my opinion). Yet when she misses here three free throws she throws the ball off of the backboard. A case could be made that he was complaining about the call (and he could have hit someone) while she was just frustrated with herself. However, given what had just transpired a technical foul call might have been in order.
39:44 Clearly not a foul. She made 1 of 2 free throws she was not entitled to.
42:20 Looks like a foul though not entirely clear to me. He should have had two free throws.
47:40 He is knocked out of bounds. No foul call.
Thus overall I count about 10 free throws made by the girls they should not have had, two baskets for the boys erased by bad calls, 8 or so free throws the boys should have gotten and several possessions the boys should have had. If called fairly the boys would have won easily by double digits.
However, if they were to play again and the girls not get off to such a slow start I think it could be a close game.

obviously the refs do not respect the girls. I say this because they went easy on the girls when it came to making calls instead of calling properly. They did not call based on actual play they saw it as hey the boys are gonna be better so we'll make it easier for the girls and harder for the guys.
+John Hillier i personally played in this game and the refs were out coach and a science teacher in the building. our coach admitted he was a bit biased with the calls because our physical condition was better

As someone who has a daughter I hate showcases like these. The coaches clearly gave the girls' team every advantage. Did the boys get a single call? After the first time out around the 8 minute mark the boys stopped the full court press. Sucks, those ladies are a fine team and deserve better. So young ladies of the world, you too can win if you are given all the advantages.

What an awfully biased ref job by the girls coaches reffing.
The main ref was both the boys and girls coach; the other one was a teacher who is well experienced with basketball. Just something to be aware of.

Girls got off to a very slow start and were down by 11 in the 2nd quarter. They beat the boys by 12 points from that point on. To hit 3 free throws with the game on the line is something most players would not do. Girls you rock!

When I was in grade 9 I was on our jr boys B team made of only grade 9ers. We were pretty bad only winning 2 games beating another teams B team. We scrimmaged agains the Senior girls team and beat them by a decent margin and that was with a 4 year age gap

People crying about the refs need to stfu. It's a boys vs girls game. The girls should definitely get some leeway to balance out the physical advantages that the boys have. If we had done this when I was in school, the boys would have cooked the girls regardless of the officiating. I could have put together a team from the PE class(kids who don't join athletics) that would have smoked the girls basketball A team. We would have been a lot more friendly about it too. These girls did a great job, all things considered, and they deserved the win.

However, for the sake of their future: make sure they don't fall in love with the three pointers, limit fouls and turnovers, infiltrate the paint more often, and make the damn free throws! What?!! Around 1974, my 8th grade boys youth team darn near shut out our girls High school VARSITY team. The girls quit at half time. Buncha 8th grade boys vs 12th grade girls. It was so fun, so funny. These boys know nothing about active hands up, boxing out, constant cutting, pick setting, pick and roll, lay-up after lay-up, and occasional pressing just for kicks. Today's NBA has ruined youth basketball. We would have never let girls beat us at ANYTHING. Not even diaper changing or cupcake baking. Boys Rule - PERIOD. lol

Then all of a sudden grey shirt calls a foul every other team the girls where on offense.. And it looks like a bunch of random boys vs. the girls team.

These refs are giving a lesson on how to keep a game close,just call a bunch fouls vs the team that's winning easily. But that fails when the team can't make but 30% of their free throws.

What about the 6 times the girls fouled the boys intentionally at the end of the game and the ref gave them 1 and 1. Those should all be 2 shot fouls. What about the time the ref called a T on the boy for spiking the ball into the ground, then after the girl missed the free throws she spiked the ball off the backboard and the ref didn't call anything. Besides is wasn't even a foul to begin with. He also could have been talking about when the girl pump fake at the 3 point line then took a dribble got fouled not in the act of shooting and the ref gave the girl 3 shots anyway.

I can't make out what he called but it certainly wasn't a foul on him and could not possibly have been a lane violation as the ball was shot immediately after entering the front court. There were several phantom calls on the boys/calls not made on the girls earlier in the game as well. Also the girl at 54:33 travelled and I don't think she was fouled either-in any case the other ref had the better view and should have made the call (or not).

On the shot I am not sure she was fouled either (though this is more debatable). Also, it appears she moves her pivot foot as she starts her dribble and should have been called for a traveling violation. The boys were required to shoot 5 1-and-1’s at the end of the game. They should have been in the double bonus for at least the last two and thus should have had two more free throws. Thus these calls at the end of the game made a five point swing (plus 4 free throws the boys should have had). Obviously would have changed the outcome of the game. And this was just the end of the game. The biased calls occurred throughout: 1:50 Highly questionable call though it is possible he brushed her. She made 1 of 2 free throws. 5:50 Clean block called a foul. She made both free throws to which she was not entitled. 8:35 Looks to me like the ball is clearly off her. In addition she taunts him after the call-technical foul? 10:07 Hard to see for sure but doesn’t look like a foul to me and his reaction would seem to confirm this. She made both free throws. This means all 5 of the girls points in the first quarter were on questionable free throws. 12:44 Clear foul by her on him. Should have been two free throws. The three second call after this was pretty close too. 14:46 On obvious foul not called though wouldn’t have materially changed the game. 16:00 I don’t see a foul. She made one of these free throws. 22:14 I don’t see a foul. After watching several times it does look like the boy puts a hand on her but I don’t see a significant push. A questionable call and a basket for the boys erased. 25:34 Hard to tell but it looks like the ball was off her. The fact that he didn’t pursue the ball more aggressively would suggest this too. Yet the ball was given to the girls. On its own a reasonable call but 28:46 Another clean block called a foul. She misses these free throws. 38:00 So many problems here. She travels and then a bad foul call given. Out of frustration he bounces the ball off the floor for a technical foul (reasonable in my opinion). Yet when she misses here three free throws she throws the ball off of the backboard. A case could be made that he was complaining about the call (and he could have hit someone) while she was just frustrated with herself. Thus overall I count about 10 free throws made by the girls they should not have had, two baskets for the boys erased by bad calls, 8 or so free throws the boys should have gotten and several possessions the boys should have had. If called fairly the boys would have won easily by double digits.

Ok im a coach of a boys team and yes we have trained and played against the equivalent girls in our club so I have been in this situation, I am about 10 mins in and I had to stop the video. If my boys behaved as these lads have they would be benched. Very poor attitude...but it does start with the coach not having control.... now I will watch the est...go girls.

Questionable officiating aside, #15 has ice in her veins sinking 3 straight FT’s at the end lmao. Also, all that the kid who “fouled” her had to do was not contest the shot. Don’t give her an angle to the basket, and keep your hands down. If she makes a desperation 3 in a high pressure situation, then all the power to her and he can live with that. Fouling or contesting a 3 late in the game like that, especially an 8th grade game, is not a good choice.
