      Hi! I just got my first laptop & audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo) & have just started using garage band. How does this work? I can buy these drum packs & use these beats to write my own music over them?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@dannymartinez881 So my packs come in two varieties, once is the MIDI version, which you can use to simply drag and drop different drum grooves into your DAW. This would require you to use your own drum plugin for the sound, so something like Superior Drummer, GGD - possibly Garage Bands own stock drums too, though I haven't tested this.
      The second version is made up of pre-mixed drum loops. These already have my drum sounds baked in, and again, it's just a simple drag & drop process to add them to your songs.
      I also bundle these two into a third option, which will give you the most flexibility, when it comes to writing. Hope that helps, and feel free to email me or reply here if you have any further questions!

    Just got your travis barker pack. Stoked to add it into my production! This channel has singlehandedly inspired me to try my hand at writing pop punk, so thank Sugarpill!

    I play punk rock and pop punk music all the time on my guitar, but some of these techniques you showed I didn’t even think of using. I’ll definitely try to use them more!

    2023 and people are inspired in making pop punk again. Never thought at 36, I’d be reading some random comments on Yt and being all hyper thinking “fack pop punk is gonna be popular again”
    Thanks for your work and tools @sugarpillcover and wishing the best for the rest of you guys. Enjoy the ride

    How do you get a flanger to sound like that?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'll usually do it as a post-fx. So I'll record the guitar and amp sound first, then use a plugin like MetaFlanger for the effect. I find it's easier to dial in the sound you want if you do it after recording, instead of in the moment. Hope that helps!

      @SugarpillProd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's when you play two notes at the same time. It's used for a lot of lead guitar licks and solos.

    Any tips for how to effectively use chromaticism?

    • @SugarpillProd
      @SugarpillProd  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's hard to give an exact example, as it's quite dependent on the song you're working on, but usually just starting on the tonic, and then ascending or descending from there works. Sometimes using 5ths, or switching from 5ths to slash chords can make things sound smoother too. Hope that helps!

      It's like the skate punk rhythm a lot of bands use. It's DU U basically.
