OMG, so proud to say I was in these performances as a supernumerary in the 3rd Acts standing next to the throne with my partner!!! What a privilege it was to share the stage with these 3 amazing ballerinas then. Again with 2 of them this past week!!!!
If I am not wrong this ballerina will perform La Sylphide by Filip Taglione, reconstructed by Pierre Laccotte at the end of August 2919 at Colón Theater Opera House Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I think Misty Copeland is not a wonderful dancer. ABT, NYCB or anyways American Companies love making advertisement. In Europe she can only be a soloist. Because Misty’s figure is saying “American Ballet Theatre is not racist.” Her story is a strong story. But Michaela DePrince is black too her story is more successful and she is more talented. If Michaela comes to ABT she directly become a principal. I know Misty injured and than doctors said “You can’t even dance.” But she worked and continue dancing. It has so many dancers like Misty. Injured but continue dancing. I think Misty is only a advertisement figure.
Wow. Humbled. Misty Copeland was a corps dancer for 14 years? Ok, I'm sorry. All I heard about for a long time was her race and it kind of started turning me off. She's paid her dues as a dancer !
Laura Streeter That’s the responsibility of the Director. There are several roles for a ballerina to excel in... That I hope Misty Copeland will get the opportunity to do other than Swan Lake. I don’t think this generation cares enough about 32 fouettés but to be moved by an entire performance. Of course us aficionados do see everything BUT in my opinion there is a greater responsibility for this art form than technicalities. Another reason ABT should be thankful for having Misty Copeland, the exposure for Ballet in general from a marketing perspective and that she sells tickets!
The entire purpose of Ballet in the 21st Century is to make Ballet approachable to everyone. If it weren't for Misty Copeland most people would have no idea what Ballet is or have an interest in it at all. No other ballerina in the United States has down that... 32 fouttes and all. Who cares? The most relatable dancer's are the ones most aspiring dancer's want to emulate. Your approach seems to be very bitter and trolling... Who cares if you don't think she's a great ballerina, many people think she's great! More kids are taking Ballet because of her alone. That's great for this generation where technology is taking over the minds of Artistic expression. I could tell you weren't an professional dancer yourself maybe that's where all that bitterness comes from. Look on the brighter side...
Actually my favorite ballerina is Marienela Nunez. She's the best but I appreciate all artist. I don't go trolling dancer's I don't like on social media like you are. Grow up.
@Laura Streeter Criticizing a dancer is fine. But so much of the Copeland criticism is rooted in misogynoir. It becomes difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.
@C. A. B. I’d be very interested to know your definition of the word ‘rude’. I asked a simple question, you have chosen to insult the intelligence and attractiveness of fellow human beings.
Isabella is fantastic
Wonderful dancers. Exceptional film-maker. My favorite ballet. Can a video be this absolute combination of perfection?

Alessandra Ferri didn't do 32 fouettes either, Who cares? They're both amazing artist.

Misty can only perform a simplified version of Odette/Odile.... She is overrated
