- How to remanufacture and reset Brother drum unit DR-1050 DR-1070 DR-1060 DR-1000 DR-1030 DR-1020 for use in printers and multifunction fax machine HL-1112 HL-1118 HL-1111 HL-1110 HL-1212 HL-1210, MFC-1813 MFC-1818 MFC-1810 MFC-1811 MFC-1815 MFC-1910WE DCP-1518 DCP-1510 DCP-1511 DCP-1512 DCP-1612
Things needed:
- Screwdriver
- New drum

RESET PROCEDURES:
The printer shuts the drum unit down when it reaches 10,000 pages
The reset procedure will reset the drum counter back to zero, so you can keep using your drum unit after the “Replace Drum” message appears and will allow you to keep printing beyond the set life of the drum unit.
Reset procedure for the Brother HL-1112 HL-1118 HL-1111 HL-1110 HL-1212 HL-1210 drum unit:
- Make sure that the machine is turned on.
- Open the cover.
- Press power button 4 times.
- Close the cover.
- The drum is now reset.
Reset procedure for MFC-1813 MFC-1818 MFC-1810 MFC-1811 MFC-1815 MFC-1910WE DCP-1518 DCP-1510 DCP-1511 DCP-1512 DCP-1610
- Press Menu button.
- Press Up or Down arrow to choose “Machine Info”.
- Press OK button.
- Press Up or Down arrow to choose “Reset Drum”.
- Press OK button for 3 seconds.
- Press the Up arrow to reset the drum counter.
- Press Stop/Exit.

To reset the drum counter, press the power button in firmly (for the click), but faster than in this video. Didn't work for me till I did it substantially quicker, about 4 clicks in 2 seconds. My old drum was making a couple of black spots on the paper. When inspecting it (second time around) I could see the places on the drum where this was happening and I thought it was scratched there. But rubbing these spots firmly with an oldish clean tea towel wetted with isopropyl alcohol, these bits came off and now the printing is perfect again. Might need a new roller before too long, but for now the cleaning process has worked nicley. Thanks viandant5 for helping me through this.

Excellent video. Thanks so much. My HL1110 was printing a vertical line down every printed page, even after I put in a new toner to replace the toner it originally came with. Machine itself only a year old. I followed your video to help me do a servicing, although I used special wipes to assist with most of the cleaning. Seems to have fixed my problem!! **Only suggestion I have is to use pliers to put the E-ring back in position, because I couldn't do it using the head of a flatblade screwdriver. Best wishes.

After printed around 50 copies its not clear spelling,what problems may be possible
IT could be a fuser problem, or a toner cartridge near the end of the life

My drum got smudges of toner on it when I printed without knowing there was ants inside my printer. I'm not sure if it's scratched or what, but do you recommend replacing it or should I just clean it?
try to clean it with isopropyl alcohol, I think it will work. Chek the toner cartridge too, may be the smudge is on the toner roller
@@viandant5 Cleaning the drum with isopropyl alcohol by using cotton buds right? That's what the instruction state to use when cleaning the drum.. But they don't mention the use of alcohol though. I will give it a try. Hope I don't need to replace it! Its lifetime has not even reached half yet...

Does the drum need to be cleaned before the reset procedure or can you skip cleaning and reset. I tried to reset however it prints one page and then get the same drum error, any ideas why this may be?

Replaced MFC-9440 drums like video, however the Machine Info/Reset Drum
menu pick does not exist. How do I reset this? Still says drum 0%.

Color MFC-9440 has a power switch. Turn it on, at the main menu. Press '3' and '9' at the same time. Slide Green Tabs message wouldn't clear so I installed a new high voltage board. Damp paper can short that out. Now we are 100% Thanks for your professional video.

it's difficult to say, may be a side gear is broken. carefully, you can try to bent the unit with a screwdriver but it's easy to damage the printer

Dear viandant5 after replace the OPC drum print quality problom not solved. what are the reasons and solutuions for the poor print quality.
it depend on which poor quality problem is. probably the problem is the toner cartridge
i replace the toner also but after that machine displaying the following
massage,"Drum! Open the cover and top cover. slide the green unit
several times."
may be the cover sensor is broken or out of position, or the toner cartridge is not in the right position. remove and reinsert the toner cartridge into the drum unit
what can i do if cover sensor is broken or out of position??
not much, but I think the problem is the toner cartridge not inserted in its position
