One tip from my end. Whatever shoe you buy please don't take completely new shoes to the trek. Yuo need to break the shoes. Wear it for few weeks or few months before. Another important thing is lace up your shoe very tightly around your ankles. It you save your toe-nails while descending. :)
I have this shoe and has used it in snow conditions in Kedarkantha trek in December-January( with microspikes) and Sandakphu trek in March and thereafter in few other treks as well and it is perfect in terms of grip, waterproofing, looks, etc and most importantly budget friendly and value for money for beginners.. Update: Still using it for treks after almost 4.5 years.. The sole is still good, the waterproofing is not working anymore and the colour has faded, the skin has got bruises from boulders and rocks in the treks..
One major difference. I don't know if decath is being gender bias but the high end sole print is only on the women's shoe and not on the men's. I have seen comments stating the men's shoe slips during trek.......... Men before buying kindly check review on decath. Nice video thanks. It helped.
I have done the Sandakphu Phalut and Kedarkantha treks with this shoe in a span of 2.5 yrs. In the Sandakphu summer trek, this shoe felt like an extension of my feet and gave immense grip, and didn't let me slip even once. But in Kedarkantha, I slipped a few times on black ice trails. The microspikes damaged a part of the sole, and one shoe sole also came apart after the trek. So, from my experience, this shoe is totally great for long summer treks, and for snow portions, but you have to be careful about grip on icy portions. Waterproofing is top-notch, my feet weren't wet even after waddling and playing in the snow, and after the Kedarkantha summit trek of 10+ hours. Cushioning and ankle support are also great.
I have bought this & going to my 1st trek very soon. How to avoid slipping? Would the men's Version of this shoe would have worked better in terms of slipping?
I completed the Hampta pass trek with these shoes, the male version of it, where the grip is a bit less. These are a bit risky on the patches of ice at the pass, otherwise, they are great. I did it on July first week, 2022.
Excellent. Loving your review series. Kindly review budget friendly layers which can withstand all seasons. From base, middle to top also cover bottom.
I'm from the hills and have used this shoe at least once a month for a year. The waterproofing on the shoe is great considering its price but sadly the shoe didn't last me for more than a year as the rubbery material used on the shoe started tearing up slowly per use. I used the shoe for some light trekking and passing along streams, but considering the distance I traveled on them, they didn't last as expected. Also the outer soles look quite grippy but they are the opposite to its purpose as they are more slippery on hiking trails as compared to most of my running shoes. Also if you are looking for a hiking shoe that will last for years, I would consider some other brand than Quechua as I have owned multiples of them in different variants.
Hey Swati, please clear this confusion. The NH150 for women and men have different grips. The men one doesn’t have cross grip and I haven’t seen that one in any other shoe from decathlon. how’s that grip ik comparison to the one in the video? I will be waiting for your response.

Having done a few treks, I would agree with that. Not sure if they have fixed this in the current version, but my shoe has the exact same pattern.

I went to a Decathlon store today and I am sorry to report that they have started using a completely different sole for this shoe now and from what I could tell it would offer much less grip as compared to the sole in the shoe you have shown in this video.
I'm not entirely sure about the new sole, because I haven't used it myself. But when I asked around, I learnt that they have made the sole better. But to test it yourself, just see if the sole has deep enough grooves that will give you grip, that's what matters the most.

Hi Swathi, how was the Fit?? I mean people often say that it's better to go with a size bigger, in case of trekking shoes. Is it true for this one as well??? should I go for a size up?
Heyy, saw a few other videos and read comments talking about this not being suitable for sahyadri treks. Planning to do a couple monsoon treks this year in the western ghats, would this work?
Hola entre este nh 150 y el mh100 cual sería mejor?
Thanks for the information.
I have one query: i regularly do trekking in Gujarat and Maharashtra. i have Quechua (MH 100 mid wtp e vm brown) shoes purchased from decathlon. which is comfortable and grip is fine. but it fails on wet rocks. it slips on wet rocks. there is not any grip on wet rocks. i see all shoes in decathlon have same material of outer sole (i think hard rubber sole). while i have sports shoes and it works well on wet rock but not comfortable for 4-5 hours of trek. it has soft sole. can you explain about it and tell me which shoes is best for wet rocks?
Thanks.
Thanks, this is useful 👍
Hi mam. I am 57 yr going on kailash mansarovar yatra in this May ending. I normally use hush puppies shoe for walking. Can I use this decathlon shoe for 3 days kailash parikrama. Flexibility of sole and grip while descending on day 2 is important for me. Waiting for your reply 😊
There's one avail with synthetic material. Same as the one cost 7k just material difference. Is that a better option or this?
Like and subbed! Loved your review
Can we use this for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund trek??
No
water proofing of decathlon shoes is zero, also kept on a shelf for a year or more the sole disintegrates
Review winter jackets of decathlon
Hey Swati. Thanks for mentioning Goeche la trek 😂😅 i was confused what shoes to buy. As this is my first Himalaya trek. Ok. Let me go buy this shoe.
How was your experience though?
Is this show good for hiking in Goa ? As there are wet trails as well , is there any cheaper waterproof option ?
Hi Muddassar, yes. You can definitely use this shoe for treks in Goa. Nh100 will also work for local treks but it doesn't have a great waterproofing capacity. Check out this article about some of the budget shoes - indiahikes.com/6-budget-shoes-trekkers-are-using
Thank you for sharing 🙏
Which one is better? SH100 or NH150?
I would suggest that make it a one-time investment and buy a higher quality pair. it will serve you longer with proper care.

I want to ask if industrial safety shoes are good to go on treks because they have very good grooves in sole and looks sturdy..!!
Hi Rahul,
Send us some pictures of the shoes on info@indiahikes.com, we'll have a look at them and get back to you.
