Do know the World Cup is every 4 years, most players only make it to 1-3 world cups before they aren’t “fit” to represent the nation at a top level
The point is, the teams claim to support values, but if you only support values when it doesn't hurt, then you don't support them. And another point: The european soccer unions could have easily united in saying: "We don't care about that rule. We will drop out if you punish us". FIFA would not dare to risk Spain, England, Germany etc. dropping out - no one would care for the world cup anymore and their revenue would go bust.

I think the yellow cards was not the only punishment. FIFA also threatened to take away points from the team, making it basically impossible to get past group stage. Yes, their actions really talk about an individual's roles and responsibilities before claiming individual rights!
Tell that to the immature, redneck, ignorant, hillbilly, typical American that thinks it can do whatever it wants and it is more important than anyone.
There are words for this. Japan is a collectivist culture where the group is more important than the individual, and America is an individualistic culture where the needs of the individual are more important than the needs of the group
The fact that the translator carried on while matching the tenacity of the coach is just so hilarious!
I thought that too!! Very "Obama's anger translator".
The coach had an obvious and clear point. That's how you show the whole team they mustn't allow the Argentinians any space to work with.

This is not the first time that Japanese fans cleaned up after themselves at a major sporting event. They are raised with an exceptional sense of duty and responsibility and most of them feel obliged to do this.
Their school children clean and mop their classrooms too. No janitors in Japan I guess.
My favorite was seeing footage of them lined up after the Tsunami (or was it an earthquake?). No pushing, shouting, etc. Just a bunch of people standing in line, taking exactly the amount allotted to them. Just a perfect understanding of community, and how their individual needs are no greater or lesser than anyone else's.

My family runs an art gallery and we've had local and international visitors. Once we had a Japanese man and his daughter visit. It was a memorable gesture and goes to show just how the culture of responsibility is deeply and widely ingrained in these people. I was inspired🇿🇲

If you're in Tokyo, you will hardly find any public trashbins. But the streets are clean. If people there produce waste, they will carry it with them in a plastic bag until they find a trashbin or take it home.

They stand for it HOWEVER the way he puts it is “I stand for it unless I get a warning for a game I kick a ball”
Well the same could be said as “I stand for it but I’d rather play to REPRESENT my nation than a punishment for an armband”
Being called up to the national team is a a privilege that not many players can say they were apart of to represent their nation so it’s understandable they’d rather play than wear an armband.

And that's not something you want to decide for the whole team as the captain.

Think about what would happen if CR7/Bale/Luka/VVD got a YC on the first game and had to sit out the second game.
It is not that you will be missing the match, but also jeopardizing the future of your national team in a competition that happens every four years.
Right? Its almost as if media outlets serve to a specific propoganda!!! It's the same thing happening here that trevor is talking about the captains. He can't publicly sympathise with them and have to ridicule them for obvious reasons.
@@juan-xn5kp I am not talking about any political, media related activities. Neither I am talking about any right or wrong.
I am talking from the perspective from a pro player. For a pro footballer not many things come close to attraction of leading the nation to world's biggest tournament. For some its a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, it was quite understandable why they choose to not to wear that band. I am not talking whether they are right or wrong, I am just saying Trevor underestimated the importance of one YC to those players.
@@areeedan2889 yes and i agree with you if that wasn't clear. I'm just saying maybe he understands your perspective but can't speak out on tv for obvious reasons.
He used the same useless arguments to reach his intended audience which is in America. For some reason, in regards to Football, Americans are a little like vegans whereas they need to shout to whoever they can that they do not follow the beautiful sport or know nothing about it. Maybe they believe it makes them less Americans. 😂 "I am a true American patriot, I know nothing about soccer".... Other late show hosts came with the exact same speech.
Lol. The Saudi coach part was def funny.
Japan resident here. Cleaning is just a normal thing to do.
The logic is the opposite: Why on Earth would you leave trash after you is beyond comprehension.
Fun fact: a brazillian flag from the state of Pernambuco was aprehended by the police in Qatar because they thought it was promoting LGBT rights since it has a small raibow on it (the flag mostly features a big christian cross)
Wow so you're making up stories now🤦♂️

So ? You have to understand one day that a country can enforce whatever laws it wishes to enforces on foreigners "coming to it"
@@zakariaelyabouri1908 Yes, any country _can_ enforce whatever laws it wishes on foreigners coming to it. But _should_ it enforce those laws at an international sporting event where everybody is supposedly welcome is another matter altogether.
Different country, different culture. Respect each other.
Didn't know Culture means discrimination now 💀💀
@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos yes different country, different discrimination, it's been a culture for a millenia of human history, and they learn from the best

@@Azarath_Metrion_Zinthos bro. West/Europe discriminate people and it's not even a law. Can I talk about how America treats black people ?
@@xXMujaheDXx999 There is a diffrence between discrimination by people and discrimination by state.. USA constitution treats equal to blacks and whites while in qatar discrimation comes from their constitution...
I've been to Japan and I'm not surprised by their actions ❤️
Wow! Japan is a true inspiration to the rest of the world! As an Indian, I’ve always loved Japan from the start! The Japanese government is offering loans to the Indian government in building Metro train systems across the country. I hope 🇮🇳 learns and adopts best practices from around the globe!
Indians should probably build there own infrastructure
If à country is hosting an international event like wc.. You should respect their beliefs and laws no matter what they are. Especially when you see how great they did with the organization and hospitality, they don't deserve all the attacks they received.. For what? Lgbtq?
The Japaneses are very respectable people. In the 70s I was stationed on Okinawa, the Japanese also have a knack for recycling stuff,a trait that I picked up.
Qatar has given the right decision , the world does not belong only to the western countries and not only to the western lifestyle.
French coach was giving African church vibes pastor and translate vibes🤣🤣🤣
I totally agree on captains not wearing one love band the players are there with one goal and that is winning the world cup
In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar.
The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves.
For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar.
If the Europeans are sincere about those south East Asians, then they should hire them in Europe.
BS
Absolutely correct my brother 👌🌺
