59chevt Hoping to get a jump start on them soon 59. Seems the second wave of machines needing serviced has pushed back the tutorial series for a couple days. I have squeezed in a couple new videos however. Cheers my Friend! Zip~
Bruce Pender Yep! The last thing I want to do is misinform anyone and with the wide variety of engines and specific governor settings for each type, I thought it best to take that video down and get cracking on making model specific videos to help those who have been asking. Not to mention, the info I provided in my original governor set up video was "bass ackwards!" lol So I hope this series will clear up the confusion and right the wrong I put out on how to set up the governors on the old cast iron Briggs. Great to hear from you! Been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest around here. Hope all is well with you and yours in the great white North! Cheers!! Zip~
Hey zippo!!your honesty goes a long way with me!!there is way to much b.s. Out here thanks for being straight up with us in video land!! Keep on keeping on
Alessandro, Search Google for part number 691958. This is the pull start assembly for the late model 16hp engines. If you're still having problems, go to the Briggs and Stratton web sight, use the model and type numbers on your engine and download your engines IPL (Individual Parts List) Manual. There, you can find all of the part numbers for your engine. You can then go to Partstree.com or Jackssmallengines.com and source just the parts you need for the pull start assembly. Cheers! Zip~
Hi Zippo. I have the exact same engine on a 1988 "Little Wonder" Pro Edger. Can you please tell me what engine it is, as I bought it as a non runner on Gumtree UK for £10. I'm an old mechanic of sorts and haven't worked on engines since the mid eighties but have found that there's no spark at the spark plug. Have checked the ohms resistance with a multi metre and it's 4.18 on the 20K ohms setting which tells me the coil is ok. Have cleaned the base of the coil and flywheel, reset the coil gap with a credit card but still no spark. You have said that you think the points have oxidized in this video, can you do a follow up video on this please. Kind regards, Tim from the UK.
LAGTMag1 Fantastic! I hope it proves helpful!! Hoping to get started on the series this week and I'll post them just as quickly as I can. Always happy to help others with wrenching on their own engines with a little more understanding. Cheers!! Zip~
BmxBikePerson Should be a tag attached to the engine tins on the front of the tractor just behind the grill. The tag tells you what your engine is. If there is no tag, then look for numbers stamped into the tin either on top of the engine or below and right of the carburetor.
Anything less than 10K ohms should indicate a good coil. As the coil wears, the resistance increases. Different coils have different "dead" specifications, so check your MFG for those. Also, if you're suspecting a bad electronic ignition coil, remove the kill wire from the coil before testing. Often, a bad ground can mimic a bad coil or high resistance. Hope this helps! Zip~
I have 50 + yrs.in auto, truck, etc. I like to find a cross reference info on Br,iggs teucumsa engines. If you find any let me know.Jim. I got ton of old parts also. If you need let me know.
+James A. Quarford There was the holy grail of web sights with all kinds of information on the older engines of all makes, but the web master took the sight down and is refusing to sell the rights to it. It's a shame that happened and hopefully, someone with the means will open a new sight to help us all, as I too used the sight. It was ASECC dott comm. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news there. You can still obtain many of the Briggs and Tecumseh manuals directly from the manufacturers though. Thanks for the parts offering. Cheers! Zip~
BmxBikePerson If it's the correct engine for the model, then it's a 7 horse power Model 19 Briggs and Stratton. A quick video of the engine from all sides would help us to help you. Cheers!! Zip~
MrBeeradb1Thanks for the input! I will be posting more on this and I appreciate your input very much. More information is always better than partial. Cheers! Zip~
nice tips, looking forward to the series.

Search my channel for "Points" Timothy. I cover cleaning points. They're under the flywheel and should be under a protective cover. Zip~

Cool 2 hp........ I have one like it do you happen to have a extra air shroud for one of those ????
Hiya Boo. I will keep an eye out for one. As it stands now, I don't have any stand alone shrouds. But, it's now on my list! Cheers! Zip~
