    I have both guitars too, the ocean blue is modeled on a 59 LP with a little thicker D shaped neck,and a one piece vaneer back, the green is more like a 60s LP with a 3 piece body and a slim tapered neck,both are favorites.

    • @bluesguy
      @bluesguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alinazang6651 it's a matter of personal preference. If you have small hands definitely the emerald green. And for bigger hands the blue.

      @@alinazang6651 I started with the slim tapered neck,so it was hard to get use to fatter neck,but now I like them both just as much,both are really comfortable,they both inspire me in different ways,you tend to favor the one your playing and it's hard to switch back,but once you get use to playing both,you will want to keep both,if I had too chose just one, it would be the fatter neck,has more sustain 🤣👍

    I got the ocean blue IYV les paul coming on June 5. Hope i'm not disappointed. Yours looks amazing! Gonna mod the pickups, tuners, and do complete setup. Condition the fretboard w/mineral oil. Hopefully, I can use it at local waterin' hole gigs. BTW:I love the headstock on the IYV Les Pauls. God bless you brother, up there in the great, white, north. ❤🎸🎶😊👍

      Hey thanks for the awesome comment! Yes these IYV guitars are amazing mod platforms. That being said, id strongly suggest giving the pickups a solid go before deciding to swap them. I swapped pickups in my other emerald green IYV, and I kind of regret it! So I decided to keep the blue one completely stock. Just upgraded the nut to bone. I believe the nut is synthetic bone and not real on this model. God bless you too brother! Have yourself a great day!

    I've been watching your Video's for a while and I really enjoy your reviews, enthusiasm and your always positive attitude! I have the Green one and I just got the New Blue one this week after a long wait. I have to say these are 2 of my favorite guitars. I was pleasantly surprised at the Blue one, It arrived in pristine condition and ready to play right out of the Box, just did a tune up and could not be happier. Keep up those Blues tracks and reviews!

      Yes these IYV guitars got me hooked! I started buying every model available from IYV. And I now actually own my first real Gibson Les Paul! ... Without IYV I wouldn't have loved the Les Paul so much! There's slight differences with the green and blue..most notably. 60s slim taper neck in the green. And a chunkier 50s chunky neck on the blue. Grats on your purchase! *And glad she came in great shape!

    I just used note book paper wrapped around the stop bar studs and bridge studs,just glue a thin strip of note book paper around each stud, leave it dry overnight and hammer the studs down with a rubber mallet, since paper is wood you won't lose sustain,great fix for oversize body stud holes.

    Interesting that the green one seems to have a 60’s slim taper-style neck, while this one seems to have a chunkier 50’s-style neck. Is the headstock angle 17 or 14 degrees on this one? So what other IYV guitars do you have?

    • @bluesguy
      @bluesguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about headstock angle. That's a very in depth question I've never worried to ask! As for IYV guitars. Currently i have the solid body black PRS. The sunburst semi hollow PRS.. those are the only 2 I haven't done a review on yet! Wich one should I show yah next video?

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluesguy Speak of the devil! I already have the black solid body PRS clone and the semi-hollow sunburst PRS clone with the vine inlay as well. They’re both great guitars with a unique sound! I do not yet have the IYV LP model, but I’ve been thinking about it. My sense so far is that it has a rounder, more even, less bright sound than the PRS clones that is probably the better sound for jazz, I’m guessing probably mostly due to the 22-fret vs 24-fret pickup placement. As for the headstock angle: Gibson Les Pauls usually tend to have either a 17 or 14 degree headstock angle, depending on the year, and Epiphones usually tend to be 14 degrees. You can look it up and find out more, but in short: the 17-degree headstock angle is one of the reasons why Gibson LPs are notorious for having tuning stability issues and being prone to headstock breakage, due to all the stress on that thin section of wood. I also notice the IYV headstock has a volute, which is probably to help strengthen the headstock. Some people hate volutes though, feeling that it makes access to the upper frets a bit less comfortable, and some people love them.

    • @zuperdee
      @zuperdee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluesguy Forgot to mention: PRS uses a 10 degree headstock angle, as well as a tuning peg pattern that makes for a straight path through the nut on all strings, to improve headstock strength and tuning stability. I haven’t measured the headstock angle on IYV’s PRS clones, but hopefully they copied as many of the virtues of the PRS design language as they can… They don’t have nearly as straight a string path in their clone of the PRS design as a real PRS does, but they’re close!

      Interesting, well I can tell u I upgraded the tuners on the green ils-300 wich I can also do a video of if you'd like? Anyway.. anytime I go to pick that one up, it's totally int tune! is it just an illusion, or is the blue guitar wider as well as thicker

    • @bluesguy
      @bluesguy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No illusion! The neck on the blue is like 50s thick neck. And the green is slim taper 60s style.
