Honestly, I would rather take the belt.
The Weekends were the worst part because as soon as I woke up, it was immediately dictionary, and the only time I was able to take breaks was eating, of course, and using the bathroom, and I had my phone taken away, and I couldn't even do it in my room, I had to do it in the kitchen, on the kitchen table. Shit was tragic

@@SMCwasTaken Emotional damage is definitely worse than physical damage. You can heal quickly from some minor physical damage, but emotional damage will stay with you for much longer, which could lead to things like depression down the line.
@dutchyoshi611 Is this because of what I wrote or my pfp? Is it a bad thing I quoted someone as a joke? I can relate to and 100% agree with this comment, but just because I make a joke to maybe make someone smile when looking at depressing comments like this, that doesn't make me a troll. My mother always favored the public corner punishment. She wouldn't yell at my sibling and I while we were in public, but when we acted up she'd say "there's always a corner", and being in public meant we would have been excluded from whatever we were doing. It taught me that shame is a powerful weapon, and you don't need to raise a finger to make people fall in line.
My dad had a history of threatening to not just take away some of my stuff, but straight up throw it away. My mom was the only reason those threats never went through; she was and still is the better listener between them both, as she actually bothered to hear me out. They ended up divorcing after my first semester of college.
the worst is when you get that speech with your parents were they like " I know your better then this" or " what happened to my little boy" bro this use to have think about my life up until this point.
I can’t really pinpoint the worst punishment I’ve suffered, but a long list of them go as follows: getting hit with metal clothes hangers till I bled; being left out in the snow in peak winter season with thin clothes and barefoot for 30 minutes; being told by my mother that she hates me more than anyone else, that I was the reason she and my dad split up; yelling and saying slurs at me on multiple occasions just because I answered her questions whilst looking tired due to schoolwork, which she thought was “rude attitude”; being thrown into walls, having my hair pulled and thrown to the ground; having multiple big metal objects thrown at me; being forced to make my own food for about a week on end with no experience when I was 9; my mom wants to control who I marry when I grow up against my will, and when I resisted and told her I didn’t want that, she hit and cursed at me many times. And for reference this all happened when I was 13-14 years old or younger…
@@Alsjeblief-nh4li I'm not really sure if he can. Heard stuff like that is hard to prosecute. The only way to weed out the majority of the abusers is by risking falsely prosecuting the falsely accused.
Unpopular opnion: the slipper is straight up the worst. It doesnt look like it,but it also does some several emotional damage after getting sniped across the living room.(specially in the head. I felt like i could have blocked it and i tough that i had dissapointed myself)
The worst punishment for me was my parents using anxiety to their advantage. The gist of it is if I acted out in public they basically told me "I can't whoop yo ass as of right now so you best believe you gon' get it behind closed doors" they would never actually follow through with it, yet the terror of knowing what's supposedly coming but never knowing when was so fucking brutal. Most of the days when I hear that, I just blitz to my room at full speed, lock my doors and pray that they forgot about it and you just count each passing second. I swear no matter how many times they pulled that shit it never got old enough for me to be like "ah I'm safe they ain't gon' do it", nah bro I was always shaking in my boots. Meanwhile the best punishment I ever got was being sent out the house. It was never more than six hours but never less than 2, basically giving me the perfect chance to just walk around and shit. I met so many of my lifelong friends through that 'punishment', and they would always invite me to play outdoors anything, basketball, football, American football, skating, biking or indoors at their house chilling playing Xbox and ps2, y'know the whole shebang. One time I got sent out, I just camped at the house of one of those friends I met and he invited the whole squad for a sleepover. His parents were super chill but not stupid, basically awesome people and they were always able to somehow manage each and everyone of us little kids in their house without being strict at all. My parents looked for me that entire time and when they found me the next day at the sleepover that's when I got the anxiety punishment.
Getting your stuff taken away can work if you're child isn't stubborn or patient. I got my WiiU taken away for not cleaning my room and I didn't do crap for the next month until my mom was fed up with it and just did it herself.
@@gabro4069 that’s completely fair and not abuse. Yay good parenting Just giving up on grounding your kids just teaches them to do whatever they want with no consequence
My parents didn’t yell or hit us. Instead they made my brothers and I deal with the natural consequences of our own actions. I just so happen to be the one that got into the dumbest situations. Once when I was 4 my mom was instructing me to use mouthwash and like the idiot I didn’t listen and I chugged the bottle. She forced me to puke it up. Another time I was playing in a 5 foot snow drift I was told not to play in. I got stuck in it and my dad watched me for 30 minutes waiting for me to get out on my own. He only helped me when he realized I was too stuck to get out on my own. Me being cold and scared was enough to deter me from making that mistake again. 10/10 punishment. The only psychological and physical damage is self inflicted and you learn a valuable lesson at the end.
My mom broke down my door once and it was so scary i had to call my teacher for help and ask if i could stay with them, which they had to decline. Just had to sit in my room all night shaking and crying. My mom later apologized but it's something she does every single time when she crossed a line (including beatings and breaking my stuff), it stopped feeling genuine. I don't even remember what she was angry about to incite such a reaction. I definitely won't be wiping her ass once she gets old, like my aunt had to do for her mother.
dude id just never speak to her again. Go off the grid and block her on everything or go to school and do way better than she ever did in her life, now that's revegnge
@@thecrunch489I plan to move out in a few years, and the sooner the better. She isn't as violent as she used to be thankfully, but she is still pretty over bearing. She doesn't like the idea of being left at nursing home, but as long as she continues to deny the harm she has done to me, she'd better accept it.
She's not sorry, especially if she's done it more than once. she probably thinks saying "I'm sorry" will turn the situation into a "forgive and forget" moment that you'll eventually let go of as if it never happened. Also it takes a VERY bad temper to want to bring down the door
bro that's your mom whatever she does she still loves you even if it doesn't look like it all the other replies telling you to ignore your mom are wrong.
This video really healed a part of my child/teenhood trauma, and I love how respectful and honest you were in this video when it came to this topic, anytime a youtuber (with non-abusive childhood) talks about it, they're often ignorant and insults the victims by saying they'll never grow up as normal individuals, I was depressed and suicidal but this doesn't mean I'll turn into a serial killer or an outlaw just because I got abused in the past. I'm so glad this video has a safe space for people to vent out their experiences without being joked or judged for it, nothing more insulting than "are you guys okay?" Or "y'all need therapy" comments, none of them are genuine support.
I remember getting yelled being beaten and getting grounded for failing a class even though i tried and I was a good kid into but I always was told i was not good enough and was always compared to my brother and I remember 1 time I forgot to turn in a slip i was kicked down the stairs by mother and was repeatedly step on in the stomach and she only said sorry but then force me to write an apology for her (yeah my child hood was fun no friends nobody to turn to for help it truly was peak...this was all in elementary school btw.)
You were punished like you flooded the house… Just for not achieving what was evidently beyond your capabilities… That sounds like sadism. Not discipline.
My little brother is going through that, he had around 200$ of food in his room, all half eaten. He keeps his bed and shelves and toys, but nothing electronic and we padlocked the pantry
@@bigcooltony437eveything but the bed. You get school clothes and two normal fits. Toys taken, bed frame taken, sheets taken. No tv, no video games and every meal at home is a pb&j sammy. On top of that, the only thing you could during normal groundings was reading a book. Not this time, you gotta stare at the popcorn on the ceiling and imagine shapes it can make. Imagine this but for months on end. Bruh, I couldn’t wait to go to school. My parents got better as time went on, but at that point it was a struggle man.
I haven't been punished in literally years, and when I say that people think my parents are js not doing it right. But I js don't do anything wrong and when I do they hear out my case. And I end up being more grateful of them for that, being relaxed and hearing out your kids is actually a lot better, and they usually give me a talk about things if I do anything wrong. So they literally teach me about my actions instead of js lazily locking me in a room or smth.
The worst punishment for me was when they take everything from you and bribe you into doing stuff for them but they never hold their end of the bargain, i remember one of my siblings broke my mom's favorite tea mug and i was blamed for it, she took our phones and our console for a month, it was around the time i used video games as a way to escape from my irl problems.
My parents hit my Nintendo switch for a week, my mom LOST it. 3 days before Christmas they ended up finding it in the attic and decide to play a game with me. Come Christmas morning I open a card to find a scavenger hunt letter saying a bunch of locations, first I find a controller by my pond. (It was snowing outside on Christmas [they hid them an hour before I went looking]) Then the attic and then on my bed. It was like 7 months since I've seen it and now its so cold it doesn't turn on. (It did eventually turn on after 5 hours of charging) If you are a parent and take stuff from your kid. DO NOT FORGET WHERE YOU PUT IT!!!
8:18 I know a girl who got this punishment. Needless to say, her mother was a complete psychopath. I don't even talk to the girl that much because she don't like me for some reason (ngl it's kind of funny seeing her yell at me for jack shit), but I have paragraphs of stories from the shit I've overheard.
I had most of these punishments done to me as a kid, mostly by my father thinking that’ll teach me a lesson to not miss behave. But all that only made me fear him, and later in life hate him to the point I told him when I have kids of my own I would be a much better father than he was to me and that I’ll never have him take care of them as I would knock his ass down if he ever to punish them the same way he did to me for anything they did.
I never got the belt, hand, or Spanked. . My parents taught me how f-ed up it was in that that would lead to child abuse. I get yelled at When I was younger
reading some of these sadder comments, i’m beyond grateful to have loving parents who knew how to raise me correctly. i think everyone who was lucky enough to have good parents should avoid taking them for granted.
6:19 once my stepdad threw a slipper at me so hard that I swear I slammed into the wall and got knocked out for a second. I think the slipper had metal in it. That was the first time that I think I’ve ever gotten knocked out.
In my household, there was no such thing as grounding (besides from technology) You either listen or get yelled at/your ass whooped, my dad got it so bad as a kid I guess it passed on to him, one small mistake and his hand became the belt lmao. One time, when I was under 10 years old my dad was so pissed I didn’t clean my room he threw my chair and made a hole in my wall in a fit of rage, he ended up fixing it and apologizing but he was big mad a lot when I was growing up😂😂😂
Back in daycare, my life was pretty fair, but as soon as I started preschool, I got yelled at, mainly for my learning disabilities, causing me to act worse and meaner and be yelled at more. And soon I hated school and for a while, my dad and sometimes mom, would guilt trip me over tiny things. And I’m still recovering from that scarring to this day.
Nah, I was kicked out when I was 12 for not doing the dishes. It was the fall, and it got super cold that night. I called my sister and she picked me up. I stayed with her for a while and my dad lost custody of me and my siblings.
In my case my dad is a martial artist, so when I was in trouble it was Tibetan monk training exercises; Squatting while balancing books, punching bricks, reciting scriptures/philosophies, sparring, weapon discipline, and pain tolerance(Think what Shang Chi went through in the movie). The worst part was that it was all timed, 5 minutes plus my age, and if I faltered or failed I would have to restart until my time was over in perfect form.....So now I can't feel pain less it's with the force of a moving vehicle and can no longer be scared without accidently drop kicking someone.
the ones that i received: belt yelling hand grounding time outs soap in mouth (liquid soap, not bar) taking stuff away spanking various others like threats of taking my bed away and tying me down to the bed imo the worst was soap in the mouth, cause i got liquid soap and i ended up swallowing it the easiest were time outs, i got and set the timer then i go and sit in a corner my parents also threatened to spank me in public, like in grocery stores they’d always say things like “touch that again and i’ll spank you right here in front of everybody” last time they tried to punish me i ended up fighting back and i haven’t been punished since, mainly because i don’t do anything bad
Worst punishment I ever got was having my room taken away I had to sleep on the sofa for a year. Also my parents had tried the taking the door away and the studying punishment with me. They tried a lot of things I felt like the guinea pig child who had a lot of weird punishments.
My parents did the same thing to me too but they eventually given me my room back again but now I have to share my room with my dad. He's obnoxious and never stops talking on his phone. He also gets upset pretty easy and never shuts up. My mom, on the other hand, acts too friendly as I'm her favorite child.
As someone who has gone through 8/13 of these punishments ranking punishments i hated most 2. Whoopings: Dad basically whooped me with anything he could get his hands on including his hand. Been whooped with a belt, swich( a bendy tree branch),metel spoon, his hand, slipper. 1. Arguments: I hate these SO MUCH and is a big reason why I try to be good to avoid it. Can't yell because its disrespectful to raise my voice, can't say curtain things because its considered back talk or smart mouth, can't just get up and leave because its disrespectful to ignore parents even when they desperately need time to calm down meanwhile they'll do all of it and be fine with it. I also can't stop crying and when im in an argument i notice that my body and voice start to shake Fun fact on my hate list getting in trouble is number 2
You can make the worlds most convincing argument as to why you did what you did, but then your parent comes back with "How dare you disrespect me!" and its just fucking over man.
8:36 I have only a year and a half left to keep holding on, and enduring my stepmom who fully believes shit like "privacy is a privilege, not a right" and that the *ONLY* thing a parent needs to provide is food, shelter, and clothing and that the kid doesn't have to like the food or clothes, they just need to *HAVE* food and clothes-
2:14 i was always a talk backer and i got the beats soo many times and with a cable i never stopped i was a menace and a dumb ass my parents punish my sooo much no matter what i never stopped talking back so i am just dumb ass hell i was both a menace and dumb child
Ngl its very rare to see a kid getting wooped or yelled at in public nowadays. But when you think about it. Us kids born between the years 2000-2005 maybe even 1998-2005. We were raised by parents born in the 70s and even 80s. So we were the last generation to experience the classic household abuse you only see in movies now.
3:41 see for the iPad kids they do this magical thing called taking away the iPad and the TV remote, so they just sat in the living room doing nothing I learned from experience I thought I was going insane dude the silence is weird
A bad punishment I got was when my tutor(my aunt) made me do squats for a long time and put books on top of my arms. This happened when I failed at something in school or if I'm just not understanding a lesson. I would end up shaking and crying afterwards
2:10 “booyakah booyakah, 6-1-9!” Ive seen creative escapes but never have i seen someone pull out the 619 like the rey mysterio to escape that type of situation. 🤣
I remember I made my mom mad and she whipped out the chancla. Luckily before she threw it at me I dodged the hit, but since I dodged the hit the chancla hit the window. My mom threw the chancla with so much power that the window broke. Still remember the day that happened 😭😭
I’ve been kicked out of the house for 4hr when I was 13. I went over to my friends house and played Cod for 4 hr with the homies. Best punishment I’ve ever gotten. (Btw my friends dad bought us McDonald’s too and played with us)
The door taken off punishment reminds me of someone I knew when I was little. he had no privacy so she was never allowed to close the door even to change. She tried to change in front of the closed door but her parents were strong so they opened it easily. It got so bad that they removed the door just so they can always watch her change. This happened while relatives were visiting so they walked in sometimes. It go so bad that he just decided to change in the bathroom.
Worst punishment I got was because I was getting low grades at school while being bullied and could barely concentrate and was depressed so what did my dad do he took my ps3 and literally used an axe to destroy it he never apologized even tho I was a well behaved kid to this day almost 8 years later I haven’t heard that man apologize and he just laughs at it even tho it made my life worse at the time cause that was the only source of real happiness I had yea I had a rough elementary school experience
as a latina i just find the chancla punishment fucking hilarious, after a couple years i just start to die laughing when my mom popped out the chancla cuz there's just this air of slapstick to it.
My worst childhood punishment was when my grandma beat me with a branch. I don’t remember it but the rest of my family does. So that tells me that it psychologically traumatized me to the point of my brain making me forget about it.
My mom mostly took away my electronics once I did something wrong and continued yelling at me while holding my phone in the most anxiety enducing way ever. Mom: *yelling at me* Me: *breathes the wrong way* My mom: You know what?! Give me all your electronics!
Worst punishment for me from my mother was straight up being forced to nearly OD on painkillers and something else that will probably trigger TH-cam to delete this whole comment. The 3rd one is why my right arm has permanent damage now 😅 My father, on the other hand, only really punished by pinching. Which is ironic since he didn't have that kind of courtesy towards my mother (and the reason why she became violent herself).
My first childhood memory, is of being abused, hit in the face with a sandal many times when i wouldn't close my eyes and take a nap. I have never allowed anyone to touch my face because of it. Abuse of every kind, was done to my six siblings and I every day of our lives. When we began adults, we all cut our parents out of our lives and never looked back and broke the cycle of abuse in our own families.
My dad beat me and my siblings with belts he had made in Mexico till we turned 18. When we turned 18, my dad gave us those belts. I'm 28 now, and I'm still wearing the same belt.
In my home if you did something really bad you would have to kneel down raise your arms up and close your eyes. Or you would have to hold your ears, squat and do what we like to call “frog jump” both for about 20-30 minutes and there’s more
A punishment that doesn’t really get talked about is getting your car keys taken away. This is a punishment that I fear so much because they’re taking away your first sense of independence. When my parents threatened to take my keys away you best believe I got my shit together real quick.
For me personally, yelling was straight up the worst. My mom would usually spank us but then tell us why she did that and talk with us reasonably afterwards(W mom🙏) but my dad, we never got spanked as a kid but when you made even the smallest, miniscule mistake he would tear you apart verbally and threaten to take your present away or some shi like that. That left me and my brother with scars man
Just because what your dad did was even worse doesn't logically follow what Mom did was okay, society has simply normalised misopedia to such an extent that actually assaulting kids is seen as a win as long as you talk with them after, which is outrageous.
@@Mr.Goodkat You do have a good point but my mom would rarely spank us too. It's only when we really misbehaved(like no respect, not listening either and nothing else worked). The reason why I say my dad was worse is because he did a lot of other shitty stuff too, more like emotional and verbal assault than physical assault (if that makes sense)
@@pencilneko Yeah I mean it certainly makes sense to say he was worse, I don't doubt he was, however there is never any justification for hitting your own children people spend less time trying to justify hitting their enemies for christ sake, animals and criminals get protection from it, it's an absolute moral disgrace and an embarrassment on society to exclude children, literally you, me, our parent's, our grandparents, excluding children means excluding every one of us for years from protections and it's the years we need them most, then when we don't need them as much anymore we get them, completely backwards and extremely misopaedic to boot.
I got grounded for a month because I was 3 hours late from getting home💀 Also have you ever had to STAND for an hour in the corner, my legs be feeling like shit.
You forgot the wooden spoon, that and the slipper are just too memorable, also with 8:23 that never happened to me but happened to my cousin and god she never even came to any family gathering after 20 or to her parents house so
Never have i gotten an apology or any reply to when they got things wrong and only found out later when they felt like it, of course after yelling and punishing me that is cause your not allowed to 'talk back' not a conversation its just you doing what you want. Hate it when this happens cause sometimes even when im not talking they get even more angry and say some crap like im ignoring them when im clearly not and use any reason to just make me suffer.

Getting yelled at is worse than getting Spanked
@@SMCwasTaken Emotional damage is definitely worse than physical damage. You can heal quickly from some minor physical damage, but emotional damage will stay with you for much longer, which could lead to things like depression down the line.
@dutchyoshi611 Is this because of what I wrote or my pfp? Is it a bad thing I quoted someone as a joke? I can relate to and 100% agree with this comment, but just because I make a joke to maybe make someone smile when looking at depressing comments like this, that doesn't make me a troll. Do you even know the definition of trolling?
My mother always favored the public corner punishment. She wouldn't yell at my sibling and I while we were in public, but when we acted up she'd say "there's always a corner", and being in public meant we would have been excluded from whatever we were doing. It taught me that shame is a powerful weapon, and you don't need to raise a finger to make people fall in line.
How public we talking? and how long?
My dad had a history of threatening to not just take away some of my stuff, but straight up throw it away. My mom was the only reason those threats never went through; she was and still is the better listener between them both, as she actually bothered to hear me out.
They ended up divorcing after my first semester of college.
Yeah my parents were the same honestly

Sounds like straight up abuse at that point. If you would use your kids as punching bags, don’t have kids

Even when throwing it like it a target ooh I remember those days
The emotional damage is when your mom says that she doesnt love you
The worst punishment for me was my parents using anxiety to their advantage.
My parents looked for me that entire time and when they found me the next day at the sleepover that's when I got the anxiety punishment.
my parents are kinda like yours
Getting your stuff taken away can work if you're child isn't stubborn or patient. I got my WiiU taken away for not cleaning my room and I didn't do crap for the next month until my mom was fed up with it and just did it herself.
Weaponized incompetence dude
My mother ignored me for a week so I ignored her right back. Finally got my peace from her yapping at me
At that point that’s when you need a whooping. Like stage 1 would be a punishment like that but continuous disobeyal would be the belt
@@gamercentral2417 same, like in my family if they feel being grounded doesn't work they give you whoopings
@@gabro4069 that’s completely fair and not abuse. Yay good parenting
Just giving up on grounding your kids just teaches them to do whatever they want with no consequence
As long as it doesn't bring death, a hard learned lesson will do the trick.

My mom later apologized but it's something she does every single time when she crossed a line (including beatings and breaking my stuff), it stopped feeling genuine.

I'm so glad this video has a safe space for people to vent out their experiences without being joked or judged for it, nothing more insulting than "are you guys okay?" Or "y'all need therapy" comments, none of them are genuine support.

even the bed?
My little brother is going through that, he had around 200$ of food in his room, all half eaten. He keeps his bed and shelves and toys, but nothing electronic and we padlocked the pantry
@@joshburrell-rb5md What did bro do to cause the PANTRY to get PADLOCKED?
Tommy survived all of them and still came out on top. Truly a goat
Probably not soap in mouth tho because I witnessed it first hand and I'm traumatised (it didn't even happen to me)

I know a girl who got this punishment.
4:12 this only worked for a little kids when doing nothing for an extended amount of time, feels like fucking prison
I never got the belt, hand, or Spanked. . My parents taught me how f-ed up it was in that that would lead to child abuse. I get yelled at When I was younger
They should've stuck with the belt
I got all of that and then some 🤷
As soon as he said belt my booty hurt
What type of parent did you have? 😂
reading some of these sadder comments, i’m beyond grateful to have loving parents who knew how to raise me correctly. i think everyone who was lucky enough to have good parents should avoid taking them for granted.
One time, when I was under 10 years old my dad was so pissed I didn’t clean my room he threw my chair and made a hole in my wall in a fit of rage, he ended up fixing it and apologizing but he was big mad a lot when I was growing up😂😂😂
3:46 mfw this has been my normal life even when not grounded for almost 4 years
Loneliness fucking sucks
The worst part was that it was all timed, 5 minutes plus my age, and if I faltered or failed I would have to restart until my time was over in perfect form.....So now I can't feel pain less it's with the force of a moving vehicle and can no longer be scared without accidently drop kicking someone.
the ones that i received:
belt
yelling
hand
grounding
time outs
soap in mouth (liquid soap, not bar)
taking stuff away
spanking
various others like threats of taking my bed away and tying me down to the bed
imo the worst was soap in the mouth, cause i got liquid soap and i ended up swallowing it
the easiest were time outs, i got and set the timer then i go and sit in a corner
my parents also threatened to spank me in public, like in grocery stores they’d always say things like “touch that again and i’ll spank you right here in front of everybody”
last time they tried to punish me i ended up fighting back and i haven’t been punished since, mainly because i don’t do anything bad
Worst punishment I ever got was having my room taken away I had to sleep on the sofa for a year. Also my parents had tried the taking the door away and the studying punishment with me. They tried a lot of things I felt like the guinea pig child who had a lot of weird punishments.
THE ROOM? Now that’s a different kind of punishment
My parents did the same thing to me too but they eventually given me my room back again but now I have to share my room with my dad. He's obnoxious and never stops talking on his phone. He also gets upset pretty easy and never shuts up. My mom, on the other hand, acts too friendly as I'm her favorite child.
The worst punishment is your mom turning a simple joke into a whole life lesson/lecture and forcing you to sit through and listen to it

I also can't stop crying and when im in an argument i notice that my body and voice start to shake
