So many private companies running passenger services in Britain, in Australia most passenger services (except Melbourne VIC) are still in state hands.

Yeah, it does give us lots of different liveries to see. However, the current government has pledged to bring most passenger services back into public ownership under Great British Railways as the contracts expire.

It did. All 36 Class 376 Electrostars will soon be going into an extensive mid life retrofit and will get the current livery.
