geez... those who are in the late 30s or 40s seeing that clarion tv screen again immediately throws you back to the 90s and early 2000s... those were the best time of my life at least... boba, cybercafe, counterstrike, import cars and car magazines.... best time ever....
One thing that would be smart to do. All the hard to get parts that can be duplicated by making a mold or scanning a 3D image of it. Should be done. That way if anyone else wants to make a replica they can hit you guys up and buy it from you.
Funny thing that banter about the VCR is that in fast and furious the first heist is about stealing DVD players and remember the car with the playstation? that was a ps1 because the ps2 just came out around the time of the filming
You guy's are doing a great job, engine bay the same color of the rest of the car is the right way in my opinion, like you guy's said it's impossible to make it 100% identical so way not make it just a little better 👍
No, I understand he explained why the bay was black but weather it was on film or not he knows for a fact that the engine bay was black, therefore it needs to go back to being black. If they are going to do the roll bar in yellow for the sake of keeping is close as possible well then the engine bay needs to go back to being black.
T56 Magnum-F would have been a good choice. Grannas Racing sells them as a kit and it's very easy to install and comes with all the needed parts. He has his own aluminum bellhousing that makes the install bolt-on. I run that in mine, and it drives like a dream with the Tilton ST246 twindisc clutch. No need to use throttle to get it going and the clutch holds 1200Nm of torque.
Would love to hear about how you would build the Supra today. Throtl just built their modern day f&f eclipse and it would be cool to hear how you would build a modern day f&f Supra.
Speak to Dan and RAD Industries, Santa Ana Cali. He's a master of JZs, he might have a V61 in his shop. Awesome to see what you guys are doing. Have you seen Throtl's Remaster Tribute car to the eclipse???
I remember we had a book at the place I worked as a pinstriper / signwriter in 2000 that had a vector catalogue with the nuclear viking in it. We all had a laugh at the whole book. Then saw the movie...
Lmao when I went to see the movie they had a built Accord and another car that I forget parked in front the theater kinda like promotion thing and the theater was fucking packed, evryone fucking loved the movie and when it was over all the dudes with cars started fucking racing in the theater parkign lot, The theater was connected to a big mall so all the youg people were going crazy in the parking lot, Those were the days
Craig, check out theRPF forums and see if you can get some help on parts that arent made. For example if you can get the brake calipers without the trough/ badge, why not modify new ones and have the trough CNC'd and a badge made? Them guys make unknown star wars parts from 40 years ago, some of this stuff you need will be easy. Alot of the folks (myself included) do it for the love of replicas/ movies and will help do it at cost.
Not a bad idea. Grab a chunk of aluminum and CNC a couple pieces with the logo, and drill and tap them to the body of the caliper with a couple counter sunk screws. Problem solved. As far as the headlights... theres no harm in sticking a set in the oven at 200 deg or so, soften the glue, take them apart and recondition as needed. People mod OEM lights all the time like this, myself included back in the day and with a little elbow grease, and the proper prep work you can make them look great. The film you're talking about is Lamin-X. Great product and I've used the clear and smoke versions of their thick 32mil films to protect my E-code headlights and fog lights on a handful of my cars, and some customers builds in the past. No complaints from myself or anyone on the longevity of the film and sure beats a broken or 'sandblasted' lens. It comes precut for most OEM lights or in bulk sheets to cut your own.
Joel Grannas all day for a complete T56 kits and he's fully stocked up on them. Amazing setup with a tilton master cylinder and hydraulic throwout bearing.
Tilton makes some quality stuff, theres no doubt about that but honestly IMO there are much better options than a T56. They feel like shit compared to many others. Any trans that they use in a chevy truck has no place in this build really. The reason I used the truck version as an example is it's a 'top loader' configuration and no long linkage and still feels pretty mediocre at best. I know it's my opinion, but after driving plenty of cars with the T5 and T56, the CD009 is a MUCH better choice for shifting feel. One of the ZF or Getrag BMW trans with an adapter would be better suited as well IMO.
I still have several mint condition issues of Fast Fours & Rotaries (Australia) that had the DVIOUS Prelude on the cover (Oz's best Show car ever produced IMO) which had a feature on the Supra in it as well as Ads for the movie itself. I remember our Car Club all went to see it the first week it opened here in OZ. People who werent around then or weren't into cars seem to think that the movie kicked it all off. It was ALREADY a Major thing around the World, the Movie just kicked it into the Mainstream
Grannas Racing specializes in 2jz-T56 transmissions. He designed an entire bolt in kit. Also, he owns/built/drives the fastest H-pattern supra in the world so his credentials hold up.
While I'm all for the T56, I do think the CD00A is more appropriate since it's still JDM. And regarding engine bay stuff, are you still gonna put on any of the chrome bits or not so much?
Bomex never got back to us after we inquired about buying a new kit. Kind of a slap in the face given that I’m sure they sold thousands of kits because I chose their kits for my car.
@2:45 "This is before DVDs were in cars" he says with a PS2 RIGHT ABOVE THE VCR..... You know the console that played games and what else? OH YEAH DVDS!
honestly the yellow works id say. its hard to build a replica with the actual owner of the vehicle because the owner actually knows everything the car had, but a "film exact" replica only shows certain things. the car that Craig had could of had purple paint on the underside that nobody ever saw in reality or on film but "the car had purple paint on the bottom" so the replica needs purple paint on it so you can only go so deep into it. exterior NEEDS to be film exact. engine built 2j, doesnt matter how built as long as it is a "2jz no shit". interior id say, as close as you want it. sound system similar style but doesnt have to be the exact setup Craig had, 2 nitrous bottles, 2 subs, 3 amps, laid out similarly (dvd player, ps5, tv optional)
It's cool to see this and tbh I wouldn't give two shits if it's 100% accurate as long as it's ok and loved like I love the eclipse that was used in supernatural especially when I learned it was most likely from the Fast and the Furious movie
You can definitely make your own parts period movies replicate parts and so does China so if u can't and u have experience then u should not attempt something your not able to re create or why try at all go 100% or done pretty simply put
It was probably MDF. Best material to build a sub enclosure from really. 3/4" is pretty much the 'industry standard' when it comes to any decent enclosure, along with the proper bracing of course.
You would be able to live a very comfortable rest of your life for the money that you would probably get for that thing if you decide to sell it after it’s done. Some butt hole with a ridiculous amount of throw away money would probably have no problem with paying 1970 hemi Khuda for speed money for it
geez... those who are in the late 30s or 40s seeing that clarion tv screen again immediately throws you back to the 90s and early 2000s...

For the love of the dark lord, once it's built you guys need to let it rip on the old set locations with no sound editing. We the fans need this!.
Definitely!
Hell yes!!!!!
Love the orange engine bay ! It's done just like you said "if you had of built the car for you" awesome that yall are doing this .
I’m with you on orange engine bay. I think that the wrecked finished film car would have had engine bay painted to match.
One thing that would be smart to do. All the hard to get parts that can be duplicated by making a mold or scanning a 3D image of it. Should be done. That way if anyone else wants to make a replica they can hit you guys up and buy it from you.
you can make the calipers look exactly correct - just mill the rectangle and make the inserts from the picture - done and done
Funny thing that banter about the VCR is that in fast and furious the first heist is about stealing DVD players and remember the car with the playstation? that was a ps1 because the ps2 just came out around the time of the filming
I think I'm gonna forget about F&F movie cars and start looking for the ones in Superfast! Especially the unicorn one :D
Too late.

@@Kev27RS yep. Would love to have this car.

the best man in the world to do a supra tribute... can't wait to see it finished
Already saw it on the Just Driven channel, but the added pictures are a nice excuse to watch it again 🤣👍
I gotta say Craig, I loved this car when i first saw it ... loved the decals too!!
Should’ve left the engine bay black. But still excited to see how this turns out.
Awesome start guys! Cant wait to see the final product! 👍
First few minutes of video reminds me of NFS Underground 2 mods. Neons, screens, speakers... Good old days
Also the 009 or 00A should be okay as long as youre not granny shifting instead of double clutching like you should.
Bro the idea of building the Charger too would be awesome!!
Would love to hear about how you would build the Supra today. Throtl just built their modern day f&f eclipse and it would be cool to hear how you would build a modern day f&f Supra.
Craig... I bought the original black/blue seats off one of the movie cars with the S........t logo at the Miami F&F auction.
Keep at it guys! I know the pain with the waiting game and the hard to find parts!
Craig I have a HKS VPC if you want to make the dash look correct.
Very entertaining conversations and content
Great video, I am beyond excited to watch the build come to completion!🔥💪
