Fantastic, melodic bass player. Played the bass guitar like it was a cello. Great singer, great stage personality and truly loved being in the band. He was devastated both times he and Nigel were sacked, especially in 1985. Even up to 2 weeks before he passed away, he told Nigel he never got over it. Rest In Peace Dee Murray.

There is something so profoundly beautiful about hearing the drum bleed, and imaging the day this was recorded, the musicians not knowing it would ultimately become such an iconic song and mainstay of popular culture.

He could provide harmony and complexity without getting in the way which is rare for a bassist.

Nigel plays the same way - deliberate, measured, ponderous! May be part of the reason for their combined success.

This is great. Where'd it come from? Curious, too, if Elton would sing a scratch track while recording the backing track. I hear no vocal bleed.

    Sounds like a double bass
