So, my brother and lived in Aston when it was really new. In fact, as far as I know I was the very first resident to move into Aston in late August 1975. Maybe the head resident had already moved in. Maybe some other RAs, but I was the first plain old student resident. A freshman. Room 311. I think. You have new furniture but the rest is original equipment. The closets are the same...mine were kinda yellowish. The three different floors in the room vs the entry vs the bathroom all are the same as 45 years ago. The toilet, stall door, mirrors, cabinets are unchanged. Shower? Can’t tell for sure. But chlorine is a good thing. Our Ac worked very well...maybe too well. Something cool to know...if you ever heard of Lyle Lovett...ask your parents...he lived in Aston in 1976 or so. Third floor, in back near me. One year. His career didn’t take off for another decade but he was already playing and singing. And also in that first batch of people that lived there, I know of two who later became Texas State Senators. A lot Of 12th Man Foundation board members, etc. My old roommate now has a suite with his name on it near the 50 yd line at Kyle Field. That’s about all the notables I can think of from the at era. I lived in Aston four years. Two on the third floor and two as a first floor RA. I also worked in the Commons kitchen for a year. And there was a front desk in the commons that was staffed 24/7 by students...helping with directions, lending out billiard balls and ping pong equipment. Probably all gone now. But all good paying gigs. Dorms are underrated. Dorm life is underrated. Nice job telling the story.
Hi Gene! Thank you so much for sharing your story and the cool history of Aston Hall. I feel honored. You will be happy to know that the commons does have a help desk and game room with ping pong tables, but they replace the pool table with video games. They remodeled the commons and the dining hall so you should come check it out sometime! And super cool about Lyle Lovett, I loved his song “you got a friend in me”. Gig ‘em!
I was a freshman, Fish, in 1983. My room was 203 in Aston Hall. The RA was right next door. We terrorized that poor guy. We had drunken shopping cart races in the hallway. Good times. Good times.
@@jenjean70 good luck with your move in!! we got our son moved in this past sunday and he's had a good week so far. let's see how it goes once classes begin
I’m moving in in like two weeks- would you recommend a replacement shower head? I’ve heard from people that the water pressure is mediocre and I’m debating whether or not to get one
I can only talk for my own dorm room, but our water pressure was pretty good but I have never heard of someone changing the shower head at my dorm. Not sure if that is possible but you could definitely call up the housing department and ask!
Hii! i'm actually planning to exchange out to A&M next August, can you tell me a bit of info on how's the condition in there? is it still online learning and such? & how much is the dorm in A&M, thank you :-)
Hi Elvira! As of spring 2021, we are still doing online but a lot of classes have in person as well, with an online option. And from the A&M resident life website, 2021-2022 dorm prices range from $2,000-5,000 a semester depending on what hall and dorm style! Let me know if you have any other questions

My son will be living in the LLC at Aston in the fall for his freshman year.....This was helpful, thanks!
My son will be on the 4th floor... not physically part of the LLC but he requested to be added so he's still in the loop. We're getting excited!!
@@kristynml6191 Awesome! We move him in on the 27th of August...I'm having mixed feelings but I'm glad he's not far. :)

And if you were to decided to get one and let’s say they said no, the cleaning people come every week so they would notice the different shower head.
Also, the water in college station... is not know for being the best. It’s soft water so it feels kinda slimy just FYI :)
I love your carpet 😋

1st comment!
Does every floor have a laundry room?
I believe so! They should have 2 on each floor
Does Aston have a community kitchen?
The first and third floors do! But you can use them even if you are in the second or fourth floor
@@lilyydinh thank youuuu! I will be living in the second floor this fall. I’m an incoming freshman
