Sadly, the Tracer rig that was sent to me had these FAT Straps on it. I will reach out to the original owner and see if he had the tracer straps and, if so, why he upgraded. I have used the stock Onward Research straps from their recce rig, and they are nice, but the Spiritus straps are lighters and softer. But both straps were good under a ruck, so I honestly think it would come down to laser cut vs. standard webbing style and brand preference and recognition.
I hate the fat straps. I don't have a real reason, they just feel extremely weird on my body. They would be okay with buckle height adjustment maybe. The Crye Airlite is functionally fixed but feels ten times better
I agree with your assessment, I would like the ride height ability but the fatstraps are comfortable on me. I do like the Lunar Concepts HX more though.
How does this compare to the tracer tac harness? Notice any difference in comfort or pack compatability between the two?
