Have had the privilege of watching Nostalgia funny cars and TF dragsters at Bakersfield, CA at many March Meets and NHRA Hot Rod Reunions. Couldn’t help but notice the cars are significantly slower here which makes me suspect this track might be at higher elevation?
Oh yeah, we are way up here. Not as high as Denver but in the same ballpark. (KN)

Brings back old memories of the shows I watched in Englishtown and Atco.
If the idiots in charge of the NHRA had any brains in their thick skulls they would add Nostalgia Fuel to the divisional points races.
Maybe some of the fans might come back…Watching their now free TH-cam coverage of points races in an attempt to regain fan interest just shows me how ridiculous the Alky classes are. 2 or 3 Alcohol Funny Cars and 4 or 5 Alcohol Dragsters ( Division 1 ) points races isn’t going to put fans in the stands. And the best thing about Nostalgia cars…Few Rolling Billboards! Time to get off my soapbox.

In the pit they shut down the engine with alcohol true the hat , How do it work after the finish line ?
Unsure, I think they just lean it out at the top end and cut the fuel supply. I'm sure someone will post up an answer here shortly though, I'll pass it along. (KN)
We have a fuel line that goes to the back of the hat with a spring in it. When the fuel pressure drops, aka when the driver lifts off the throttle, the spring opens and puts fuel into the hat. This not only puts fuel into a starving motor, but also serves the purpose of relieving the pressure that is instantly thrown at the fuel pump (we actually refer to it as a "pump saver").
As far as shutting the engine down, a lot of the time, the negative g's from the chutes will lean the motor out and shut it off, but the driver just closes the fuel levers after the run to do the same thing.
In the pits, we give it some methanol to clear nitro out of the lines so that nothing bad happens when we next try to fire the car. This isn't a concern after the run because the entire motor is coming apart back in the pit.
