    A few things I can share from my research of the Yukon XL (our SLE Duramax is on order). The cubby to the right of the infotainment screen is for your sunglasses (not up in the overhead console like most other rigs). The brake controller installed by your dealer is made by Curt and called the Spectrum. It's available to order direct from GM as an "accessory" in the trailering category when you build your Yukon on their site. Also, when you build a Yukon SLE, there's a packaged for ~$500 called "GMC Pro Safety Plus" which gets you blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. I agree it should be standard equipment on a rig of this size, but at least it's available on SLE and doesn't require upgrading to SLT.

      @obrienracing1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah the video comments had me worried becuase I was thinking you got the blind spot mirrors with the pro safety plus package. You confirmed that.. I Also ordered max trailer pkg. for brake controller and two speed case. Deleted the front console for a bench. Should be neat. Ordered mine 3rd week March hopefully gets built soon

      @@obrienracing1 We ordered the week after you. Duramax and front bench are our only options. I wanted max tow, but it’s on constraint so I took it off in hopes that our order gets picked up sooner. I’ll just wire in for the Prodigy P3 I already have. Hope your order gets picked up soon!!!

    I would love to add this exact vehicle to our garage. I guarantee you that lack of blind spot monitoring is to push people to the SLT. Great choice!

    Very good honest opinion of your new set of wheels! Thanks….. I want one! I allways buy loaded up Duramax pick ups! Easy to sell when a couple years old with 40K on them! Was waiting to hear from a new owner like u to get an honest evaluation of the 3L in line 6 Duramax!

    We were ready to order an SLE and then the wife found you could not get a power lift gate and that was a deal breaker for her. I still wanted the SLE, but we ended up ordering a SLT to get the power lift gate. I am typically a minimalist, less stuff to break type guy. I was however disappointed in the fact that you can not get adaptive cruise with out upgrading to a Denali, another 10k over our build. We rented a 21 last year and drove from Texas to California and the vehicle was great for a road trip. Our new Yukon will replace our 2002 Tahoe, which my wife has been driving since it was new, so it time. The Tahoe has 220000 miles on it and has pretty much been garage kept this whole time and will go to our son who just started driving. Great video. Enjoyed your presentation.

      Thanks for sharing, yeah the power lift gate is an oversight on the SLE. We've done fine with just the manual gate so I'm glad I didn't upgrade to the SLT. Did you get the diesel?

    Thanks for the in-depth review of the SLE… I didn’t find any quality reviews on the lower trim and I appreciate it. The biggest struggle I have had is which engine option to select. I want the diesel but unfortunately they’re too many valid points not to buy it. We are looking to order a XL 5.3L with the max tow pkg. we have a 2.8L duramax in our Colorado and I like it a lot and we will keep that truck. I think emission systems requirements really have hampered modern diesel proliferation. The long-term reliability of these emission systems will be interesting. I truly worry about the maintenance costs. Also I’m not overly blown away it with a 3.0’s maintenance requirement at 150,000 miles for the oil pump belt, which requires the engine and transmission separated and the engine pulled for access. This engine’s critical maintenance items are against the firewall, which is a huge problem in my opinion. there’s no doubt the diesel is going to be the better tow vehicle and get better fuel economy but when you add up the additional cost of diesel fuel, DEF, filter changes in routine maintenance costs, which I’m experiencing in my 2.8L, I think the advantage diesel used to have is lost.

    After having your Yukon with D-Max a while, what is your opinion on how it tows your 7X16 trailer? I currently have a Suburban with the 5.3 and I have a 7X16 for dirtbikes and it tows the trailer OK but I get 8 MPG when towing. Definitely needs to downshift and stay higher in the RPM's when I get in hills. Was hoping the 3.0 handled the trailer better with the low torque curve. I thought you said 13 MPG when towing, is that still a good number?

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I've towed it a few times now and consistently get 12-13 mpg towing it

    • @Hardrakk187
      @Hardrakk187 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Myksgarage Awesome, thank you! I see you have a big D-Max so nothing compares but are you happy with the way it tow's your trailer or does it struggle when pulling up a grade?

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This 3.0L Duramax doesn't struggle at all pulling this cargo trailer loaded down. it pulls it very well, it doesn't struggle at all. I think in large its due to the 10 speed transmission and the low RPM torque. Im very impressed with it.

      @Hardrakk187 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Myksgarage Thank you again for your feedback, I struggled to find someone that could offer real world towing point of view. This really helped and I think I will upgrade to the 3.0 Duramax.

      @@guessable , not sure I understand your response. Seems you paid 5k over MSRP. Oh I’ve been asking and they come back with well that’s the way it is. No worries. I’m not going to pay anywhere above or near MSRP. I refuse. I can wait until they are up to their ears in inventory again 😂. Yesterday I looked at two different Tahoe’s, one was 5k over and the other was 10k over. It will get better later this year or early next year.

    You rather a base Yukon instead of a suburban with a few options? Is the base YUKON that much better in the standard version?

    • @Myksgarage
      @Myksgarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can get a base suburban LS which is about the same as the base Yukon SLE. A higher trim suburban would've been a lot more money than my base Yukon.

    Let’s hope it doesn’t start rattling like a bag of marbles after a few thousand miles ….and then have low oil pressure and need a new engine and the next engine does the same and no oil on the dipstick at 3,000 miles and the nice gm techs tell you it’s the characteristics of the engine…even though it was quiet when I bought it and quiet with the new engine and quiet after I made them reset the injectors and half a tank later sounding like a bag of marbles and a detonating gas motor…I had numerous other 3.0 owners rude in my truck and they about jumped out the window when they heard the sound..shame on gm for not buying it back and telling me such lies
