Gracias🙏💕
Was on that ship in 1986... as a boy of 12 years... al lot of fun. But the ship was blocked on a sandbank for 3 days because of the pilot from Egypt (only one year after the capterimg of the ship... in Egypt...). A lot of memories!
So lucky to have visited this majestic lady, whilst she was in Southampton in the early 1980's. I still have my treasured coloured slides. At least she was spared the cutters torch, laying at the bottom of the ocean. Amor, Amor, Amor God Bless
Frank Smith4 minutes agoI came to Australia on this lovely ship as a ten pound Pom leaving Southampton for Sydney on 4 August 1970. The dockers in Southampton were on strike so we had to load our own luggage. She sailed via Messina and then Naples and Genoa where she filled up with Italian migrants. Then out of the Mediteranean to the Canary Islands where the crew went on strike for 3 days and all passengers were paid ten pounds per day to go ashore to eat - this was three times the fare we had paid as assisted passage migrants. I shared a 4 berth second class cabin with an Irish Family. I saw her again in Sydney in the 90's after her refit and she looked beautiful. So sad when she sank of the East coast of Africa. Lovely memories that changed my life. Frank Smith
I first saw the liner as the Achille Lauro in a 70's brochure I got at a travel agency or in the mail when I was maybe 14. The picture was a bit of a jolt as I'd never seen a blue-hulled liner and one with such unusual funnels and such an overall unusual appearance. I still have that picture. I think the funnels did give balance to her later appearance. Unusual but important and historic ship and I'm very fond of her.
I like how did two more extra light between 9 by either side by the way to some oxy her too so brilliant and wonder why he lied took so long to record it ship this long
I'm just sad that she called for a 1990 Ford in sync with the loss of the three people but I still feel heartbroken that ship has had does not exist today is in it and its not on the bottom of the ocean😥😥😥😦😦😦😧😧😧😢😢😢
oh by the way I like how how to replace the two miles to whether a single radar and I like how to replace ur too small funnels with two tower slightly slim funnels😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rod McKuen sings this great song beautifully but the extended non melodic parts of the accompaniment spoil it. Check out on TH-cam "TopPop, Amor Amor, Rod McKuen" for a great Video, and Frank Pourcel for a great orchestral version.

I just love this rendition of the song for the beautiful "Blue Sip". It suits her so well!

Georg, that song was totally bitchin'! I love it! The Achille Lauro was a beautiful ship. Her blue paint was very distinctive.

Georg, I am not feeling hot at the moment, but seeing this video is the start of me feeling better. I love this video!

Zusterschip of the Angelina Lauro. And that was the corner m.s Oranje
IDENTICAL AS "WILLEM RUYS" ALSO IT WAS "MS"ACHILLE LAURO AND NOT "SS" !
Always thought she was SS, when the fire started it said that it was an boiler explosion and no other ships use Boilers then SS
