Fantastic analysis YET Bolt beat Americans again and again and again. INCLUDING taking Johnson himself records and one year later Bromell ain't doing much LOLL
Love the close up of Dasaolu. He looks around once, tries to run fast again, looks around for the second time and you can lip read him, mid race, going, "Ah shit". He knows he's screwed the pooch.
Michael Johnson is mistaken about his analysis about Bolt. I know MJ is a great sprinter, has great form, yada yada, but he's still only human. He's failed to take into account Bolts huge stature and unique build. Bolt ran the way he did because it worked best for him. His build did not allow him to achieve the "perfect form" MJ is describing. Bolt's own form worked for his build, and it made him the best sprinter of all time.
This reminds of the theories around bumblebees. Clearly something is wrong with them since they can fly. So how did it matter that the 'muricans had better technique when they were slower?
Johnson's point was always that Bolt could have gone faster if he had better technique. Kinda like saying that a player like Messi could have scored more goals if he had practised more on his right foot. Saying that Messi could have improved as a player, doesn't take away from him being the best.
@@ArrKayLondon which is defenetly true i have read mechanicsof sprinting and hurdling and it explains a little why he was so fast but also how he could have been faster
@@philipmeisterl He also had very poor discipline in big races about celebrating early and looking across even though he was unbeatable. Add up all those bits plus the running form and I do think he could have got a 9.4. When he first came on the scene he said his coach believed he'd get a 9.4 when he was 27, as he matured. But he peaked much earlier than that.
Because who cares if he have perfect form or not isnt this the same man who broke 100m and 200m world records twice and the 4x100m world record twice. I just sayi !🤯
Only if Usain Bolt could get some "lateral stability" and stop being so "clunky" maybe then he can win one race, or better yet maybe even beat a world record....🙄
If treyvon's technique is so perfect why on 3 occasion he fell, immediately after crossing the finishing line ,i mean the last fall in 2016 brazil resulted in serious injuries🤫🤔please note; bolt's technique is impossible to change with his scoliosis, and this adds to his greatness ,inspite of this disadvantage he was still able to perform great feats once thought impossible😊
Not everything is a science. Bolt the Bullet ran his own race. Remeber, he is 1.95m tall. Of course he will rock left to right - spilling all of that energy meant he lost out running the 100m in 8.9 secs
Pretty sure his form/running mechanics would've been different if scoliosis wasn't a factor. I know Michael mentioned it but a lot of people weren't very aware it.
@@joedagg4495 I think the taller you are, the more pronounced the swaying is. Think of it like a building. The taller ones tend to sway a lot more than shorter ones, if that makes any sense.
Usain bolt doesn’t have the best technique, especially after his prime, he’s just fast and gifted, in his prime though, he would get off the blocks just as quick as athletes like gatlin and tyson gay and even asafa powell at times, thats how he broke the world records. After his prime he was only dependent on his pure speed and ability to catch you and pass you, he’s a mad man.
@@Avicci5486 He seemed to look a lot heavier from 2012 onwards muscle wise so that would impact his acceleration too, but the extra mass means he decelerates slower than everyone else. I wonder what the methodology behind the change in physique was from Glen Mills?
So I don't think I ever saw bolt run any different even in the latter part of his career. You're telling me he could run even faster if not for those inefficiencies?
It's his stature, usually tall sprinters don't have a good stability when they go out of the blocks, but who cares Usain bolt is the GOAT who can blame him
mj is smart but this view of straight down the track doesnt cut it physiologically and mechanically. if you need to sway to maintain momentum then you do that. 9.58 for the guy with the dodgy technique and 9.90 for the guy with 'perfect' form. this foot analysis is also short sighted. its a step from the blocks in a qualifier. you cant say thats indicative and again, the guy is in front!. MJ was all over the place in technique himself yet was unbeatable. Bob Hayes looked like a food blender. Sports Scientists would cringe at this analysis.
It's not really a proven fact which technique is the best, but there are guidelines. One of them being directing all your energy in a forward back motion rather than side to side. Bolt was all over the place here compared to the early 2010s when he recorded world record splits in 20m, 40m and 60m, and it showed in his performance. The only thing I disagree with Johnson is the "flat footed" acceleration because basically all sprinters accelerate nearly flat footed. But again, foot placement, hip and knee angles are all under dispute in terms of which is "best".
@Square one Levi stfu idiot 99% of all Bolts races he start to shut down 30 meters before the finish so whether he has a poor or great form none is in his league ... so gagboy just observe Jamaican Greatness and stfu
Then if Bolt was perfect he would have lowered the world record to 8.58 seconds..and 18.19 seconds respectively!!! According to Michael Johnson's analysis of him..so it's a good thing he wasn't perfect..
Well, I think it's interesting, nobody is perfect. Bolt has always been talked about as not having the best start, not having the best pick up phase. It might be because he's exceptionally tall for a sprinter and it was necessary for him to do that. Maybe there are things he could have done technically better. He broke the world record barely using his arms for the last 20 meters, because once he got his god tier legs rolling? Game over, a pure Phenom. Could better technique in the first 50m have allowed him to run maybe 9.50? It's possible, because nobody is perfect.
We need more of this unbiased, honest analysis in sports.
