Perhaps the paint was cleaned off. The point is that i don’t think it’s a good image to use for promotion of this wonderful place. Use the landscape, the artist, his paint boxes, the canvas as he works - just not gobbing paint onto the rocks. It’s right up there with people spray painting their names on them. Maybe the ad writers don’t know any better and the NL ads are some of the best I’ve seen. Love them. Just not this image of destruction of the environment.
As an artist, I find it appalling that you are showing oil paint with all of its toxins being squeezed out onto a rock to be used as a palette by Mr. Roy (who's work I admire). I love NL and hate to see such disregard for such a pristine landscape. Don't pollute and take your garbage with you. I don't think that this helps your image.
He could be and I agree that oil paints are less toxic than they used to be but not completely, especially some of the pigments used. However, that doesn't preclude defacing the rock. Why not use his palette? Maybe this was just for promotional effect but still not a good idea. Who wants to come across this sort of graffiti particularly when one is promoting the pristine quality of the land. Garbage is garbage. "Leave no footprint --------."
