This was my first oNe meeting and it was a blast. Great to meet so many like-minded folks and see all the bikes. And thanks for all the kind words about my XS650. It's one of my favorites - I come home from every ride with a big grin on my face...
Hi Paul, it was great to meet you and thanks very much for coming on your stunning bike. Would love to see more of it again soon when we get the chance. Best wishes
Good day Mike! Great bunch of guys you have to ride/hang out with and tell tall tales of adventures in motorcycle spannering! It is great too see your face and listen too your banter again! You were well missed my friend! Your Mum must be very proud of the gentleman she raised! Bless you and the family!🌞🙏🏻🏍
Hi Mike, very much enjoyed today's video. Great to see you guys meeting up & having a 'ride out garage crawl'. The Gold Star' has my vote, it's such a thrill to hear that single note exhaust when it's given a few beans .. 😉 .. 😂 .. 👍 Thanks to everyone for their input, it's very much appreciated even for an 'armchair rider' .. 😅 Thanks as always for sharing & getting this posted for others to enjoy, atvb t ..👍 .. 🏍
Great video as always Mike! Very nice group of enthusiasts. I enjoyed seeing the XS650 as I own a 1976 XS650C. Where I live in Orlando, Fl. I found a great group of guys with various vintage motorcycle that hang out every Thursday not three miles from my house! On a sad note, The Ace Cafe in downtown Orlando is closing at the end of May. Property is being sold to developers who will be building apartments. Hopefully the Ace Cafe owners will consider finding another location in Orlando?
Great ride ! , and man that Goldstar sounds awesome ! Thanks again . ps. as you said ' Brave man kicking that GoldStar over in sneakers ' ,, My Norton ES2 ripped my sneaker in 1/2 and damaged my foot many years ago , very painful and the ES2 did not even feel it ! , I learned back then that you need a strong pair of boots to start a 500cc Single and respect the ' Advance Lever ' .
Great video, as usual, Mike. I enjoyed seeing that pristine Yamaha XS650 - my first big bike was a '71 XS650. Regarding the "1972 Harley Davidson Super Glide" at 7:22...as the owner of a 1981 Harley Sportster, that bike looks to me suspiciously like a Sportster! Best Wishes and thanks for all the great videos.
That XS looks great , I have a Project-73TX-cafe that 'might' be ready for summer (New-Zealand) . They are special-bikes , as-much as any of the-old Brits . Not a Harley-guy , I guess the 'kicker' makes some of us just assume something is older than it might-be , I thought it looked smart compared to many (HD's) i've seen a few lately (down-here)
Another great video Mike. great shots good scenery, the BSA God star was good to see and hear as was the dunstal norton [maybe a lookalike?] Keep the videos coming.
I'd love to test ride one of those 750 Guzzi's, like the Ambassador or the El Dorado. I bet it would feel likeriding a sofa. They're great looking bikes. Lots of awesome bikes in this video.
Another great video, Mike. Lots of great bikes to enjoy, I like them all, but have a soft spot for the Ironhead...... nice to see the XS650 too. For those who didn't recognize it, Sean has a way, way cool early Chevrolet Blazer with the "full" removable top..... the vast majority of older Blazers have the 3/4 top, they only did the full top for a very few years (mine is a 75', the last year). I was reaching for the brake as you approached the edge at Paul's. Thanks again for posting this fantastic video, really enjoyed the ride and garages.
This video was even more enjoyable for me as you seemed to linger a bit longer on the bikes outside the Horse Brass! Filtering into the “fast” lane, interesting 🤔🇬🇧
Mike, I always love your gentle videos especially as you don’t yell at the camera like in so many vids. Despite being a Triumph man I really appreciate those Nortons. Could never afford one 50 years ago and it looks like I still can’t now. 😂😂😂 Keep up the great work as I know it takes some time to put the videos up. 👍
Take a look at the "Bikes and Beards" video covering a NOS 850, just out of the crate. So much better than the bikes that have been "rebuilt" or "restored". A fantastic piece of Norton history, and a great video.
They really didn't know anything about a 75 Norton. They stated they went to find a professional to help them. Then they never mentioned the professional's name. I'll have you know that was Christopher West who now owns Fair Spairs New England.
@@leochristianson1277 Christopher West sounds like he probably knows his stuff. But just because they are not Norton experts, doesnt detract from a really good video.
@sickophant 'So much better than …..have been Rebuilt or restored'? You mean by restored - the ones that have tires that aren’t solid and cracked, the ones whose seals haven’t turned to bakelite, the ones that haven’t been subject to 50 years of atmospheric moisture inside the engine that hasn’t been burnt off by running the bike, the ones that haven’t got brake shoes welded thru corrosion to the drums, the ones that have every bearing and race filled with grease turned to toffee brittle, the ones where every rubber shroud and grommet turns to biscuit the moment you try to move it, the ones that never had a lick of polish between the assembly line and now? Nah. You’re probably right.
Enjoyed another of your great videos Mike. The selection of bikes on this rides was exceptional. One thing though. I’m not a fan of the 360 camera sticking out the front as it spoils the view for me when I’m vicariously riding with you. Have a think on it. Cheers.
@@doylegaines1319 Don’t misunderstand, I don’t have that problem with a 360 out back or to the side but the out front view just doesn’t work for me. Cheers
Mike, I just purchased an Insta360 camera. I noticed in your video you used three different positions for your Insta360 camera: almost horizontal, 45 dergees extended forward, and almost straight up. What were the reasons/advantages for changing the camera orientation?
Hi Russell, Congrats! They are great cameras. I like to try different angles mostly just for more interesting angles that I may not get from having the camera in just one position, even though you can record 360°. For example, I thought it would be fun to push the camera straight up vertically to the top of the extension pole to capture video from over all our heads as we sat at the traffic light. I looked at some of the clips of facing down towards the wheel but they weren't very interesting. I like the fly-by shots very much and use the Insta360 Studio software on my iMac. The best position for the camera seems to be the "joust" position where it is straight out ahead and in front of the bike, especially extended on the pole a little. It gives a sense of someone riding/driving in front and looking back at me riding the bike. I like it a lot but I tend to use the clips sparingly as otherwise I think it can look a little too gimmicky in the video. I had a mishap already when it dropped down and rubbed up against my rear wheel. Luckily it just scraped the outer case, but it could have been a lot worse. Having a sturdy clamp helps a lot with stability although the camera is amazing. Please let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help. Best wishes, Mike
@@TheMightyGarage Thanks for the excellent response! Perhaps I will send you one of my video clips in the near future. The first time I noticed one of your "fly-by" shots I was thoroughly impressed. In fact, that's what convinced me to buy the camera. BTW: The time you put into preparing such excellent social media content for us Commando owners is greatly appreciated.
Hi Bob, I suspect these are the original US-Spec / Western style bars that originally came with the bike. I think they are number 2 in the diagram below from Andover Norton, but it doesn't look like they sell them. I suspect that you can get them from most dealers here in the US. Please let me know if you'd like me to measure them. Cheers, Mike. andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-drawing/77/handlebars-disc-brake-master-cylinder-and-hose-group

Another great episode. The Garage Crawl bikes were fabulous.
Another fantastic video thanks Mike. I loved seeing the line up of motorcycles, especially the Nortons. Such a timeless machine.
Love the old bikes, brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing another great video!

Bit late catching this one Mike ! As always, Big Thumbs Up, as Noraly would say. Like the camera trickery 😉 Ray 🇬🇧
Love the different sounds of the old bikes captured well Mike. You even got an Atlas in 😂
Now that I've stopped drooling, I must say, your Commando is in fine fettle, dialed in like a fine watch.

I agree but why couldn't they get the front break to work? That would seem like a fairly straight forward fix for a couple of motorcycle mechanics.
@@donparker1823 I would imagine the caliper was seized? They were probably very eager to ride it, so didnt sort the caliper before the ride.

Nice looking bikes. Not like the modern naked bikes that look like a dogs dinner.
Seems to be a bit of a "hair" clutch on the fastback. Setting up that diaphragm clutch is not the easiest thing to do.
I'm starting to like the moto guzzi.
