@@SantiagoRodriguez-tz5xhnot really, literally the end of the trailer said “and much more” and even if most of the features were shown it doesn’t change the fact that coding and bug fixing takes a painful amount of time. bugs can always just show up out of no where and can be very difficult to fix, and many bugs are also often hard to find and can break major parts of the game so he can’t really just leave them and expect it to turn out ok. plus november is literally less than 2 weeks away, the update is still very close regardless. if you can’t wait 1 more month that’s your problem

The only thing I dislike about the delay is when you set a time window, people get impatient. So if it gets delayed, people get mad. I am glad it's being delayed. I don't want to play with a bunch of bugs and an unpolished level. So it being delayed is good.
Do they not know that there's more than just the 2 main levels. They see that explorers is delayed and think that most the update is delayed. There is more to 2.2 like the story being continued. The map. The tower. New shops. You can wait a few weeks for 2.21

From my own experience making games, I know how slow adding features and bug fixing can be. Currently while making a new game, all i got is a basic gameplay and not even all the features done, and its been like 3 weeks. I completely understand what robtops goin through to try and get this out, probably stressing out a ton and worrying a lot. I think the update shouldn’t have been sneak peaked so early. Delaying stuff happens, but I think the larger scale timeline of how the release has been going in terms of teasers is not great. Doing teasers for a game too early is going to lead to more disappointment pretty much in every case (even if the game isn’t delayed, people will lose interest).
Im fine if rob needs more time. I would've been fine if he needed until 2024 to finish the game. However I'm not fine with him giving us a deadline and then telling us at the last second that he needs more time.
To represent what RobTop is doing, find someone with little no coding experience and almost no experience with making levels. Then, tell them to make a sequel to Khorne, but instead of building normally, they have to code it in Spu7Nix’s SPWN programming language. Also, the level must be at least 36 minutes long, the whole level must maintain Khorne’s original decoration for the entire 36 minutes, and you are not allowed to watch any building or coding tutorials. But tell them they can’t code in SPWN just yet; they have to program a bot to enter each character into SPWN. Once you’re finally done with the level after years of hard work, you’re not actually done yet. You have to optimize the entire level to be under 300K objects while looking 85% the same. If you're not an investor or something similar, you should not ever care about a game being delayed. It sucks you have to wait but you'll be fine. If you have nothing else to do until 2.2 comes out, you need help.

I just want to point out that 2.2 getting polished is a good thing. If any of you guys remember 2.1 (not 2.11), the high graphics setting was disabled so the game looked awful because it wasn't finished. Yeah, I've waited 6 years, I can wait a few weeks.

As a beginner game developer, one big reason why things can be delayed is motivation. Sometimes, I'll lose motivation to work on a game and it gets delayed by a few days until I find a reason to work on it and finish it. This might not be the main reason why 2.2 hasn't come out in 6 years, but it could play a part.
also, the people saying he can't keep promises don't understand that if he did add everything he promised for 2.2, we would be waiting much longer. These people should at least accept the fact that they are even getting the update.

The GD community is being ungrateful and incredibly childish right now. They expect Robtop to be their personal slave chained to his computer 24/7 working on 2.2. The fact is that Robtop is a person, not a robot, and he needs to take breaks, deal with his own issues and do things that aren’t just working around the clock. On top of development, he has to be in-touch with his community, constantly interacting with us and rating levels, assigning weeklies/dailies etc. The workload on him is insane and a bunch of spoilt 12 year olds - who don’t know and probably never will know how to print “Hello World” in Java - screaming at him on Twitter aren’t helping. Yeah, feature creep happened, and Rob tried to cram too much content into a single update. Perhaps the SFX system was better reserved as a flagship feature for 2.3, and he didn’t need to add the ridiculous amount of stuff he did. He should learn from his mistakes and make 2.3 a smaller update. But right now, Robtop is giving us a massive game-changing update that’s been delayed from its original release window by a week or two, and a bunch of terminally online preteens whose entire lives revolve around this single game are having a meltdown. Seriously, 90% of the people in this video probably need a hobby because if an update to a game being delayed by two weeks is enough for them to go into tantrum mode that’s seriously unhealthy.
im up to 1:28 and i havent fully watched the video yet but my stance is that I'm on both sides. I fully understand RobTop needing to polish the update and I agree with this decision. I just am not a fan of the fact that after 6 years of waiting, we finally get a release month and the whole community has their hopes up only to be let down when its announced that it's not actually releasing in October. Thinking that the end is within weeks, only to wait longer is disappointing to say the least. It would have been so much better if RobTop announced that 2.2 would come out in 2023 instead of saying a specific month, so that he would have more time to work on the update. In my eyes a promise is when specifically says "will" anything that is a "maybe, soon, hopefully, etc" is just an estimation to me and this is my view for any game release. Like, if I say "Hopefully I can go to your place" does not mean it's a promise and definite that I will go to your place. Not only that but if you watched the video, the delay was not planned, Rob had expected to be finished in October but the server switching & bugfixing were more than he expected which is normal. In August or even earlier when the anniversary video was made Rob estimated that he could complete everything until October. This estimation can only be based on what he knew at the time about remaining work and possible issues, it's literally impossible for him to know how much time fixing issues unknown to him at the time would take. If he did he would have probably just set November or even December as the release date.
@@nick72486 He obviously could have included more headroom in his timeline and he almost certainly already did plan for some with the October date, but unknown unknowns can make any timeline impossible to hold. In August he could not have known about the issues he would find later in September and October, how many there would be and how long they would take to fix, which made it impossible to be sure on any estimate at that time. This also still applies today as he doesn't know how many issues might arise tomorrow, but the estimate should get more and more accurate the closer to finishing he gets.

I think people who go around hating on robtop for "being lazy" and "taking forever" to finish the update really don't appreciate him like they should. Like, not only did he spend 6 years working on this update, he has also made sure to take some time out of his day to maintain the servers, rate levels, and (at times) interact directly with the community. The level of dedication this guy has to this community is lowkey insane.

I think the update shouldn’t have been sneak peaked so early. Delaying stuff happens, but I think the larger scale timeline of how the release has been going in terms of teasers is not great. Doing teasers for a game too early is going to lead to more disappointment pretty much in every case (even if the game isn’t delayed, people will lose interest).

Im fine if rob needs more time. I would've been fine if he needed until 2024 to finish the game. However I'm not fine with him giving us a deadline and then telling us at the last second that he needs more time.
To represent what RobTop is doing, find someone with little no coding experience and almost no experience with making levels. Then, tell them to make a sequel to Khorne, but instead of building normally, they have to code it in Spu7Nix’s SPWN programming language. Also, the level must be at least 36 minutes long, the whole level must maintain Khorne’s original decoration for the entire 36 minutes, and you are not allowed to watch any building or coding tutorials. But tell them they can’t code in SPWN just yet; they have to program a bot to enter each character into SPWN. However, for each character the bot types, you have to manually code each character with binary. Now, add the stress of everybody pressuring you to finish the level and calling you lazy. Once you’re finally done with the level after years of hard work, you’re not actually done yet. You have to optimize the entire level to be under 300K objects while looking 85% the same. To see how similar the two are, you must program a bot to see the similarities between two photos. So, you must take photos of the entire level twice, with the optimized and unoptimized version. By the way, you still aren’t allowed to do anything in the editor. That’s about what it’s like for RobTop.

If you're not an investor or something similar, you should not ever care about a game being delayed. It sucks you have to wait but you'll be fine. If you have nothing else to do until 2.2 comes out, you need help.

7:02 this was the part that changed my side of things, you're right a date isn't a promise and he's not playing with our emotions by not being able to fulfill on that date, and as for the bad game dev stuff, that was all bullshit from the beginning and those people should either learn robs struggles or shut the hell up.

I just want to point out that 2.2 getting polished is a good thing. If any of you guys remember 2.1 (not 2.11), the high graphics setting was disabled so the game looked awful because it wasn't finished. Yeah, I've waited 6 years, I can wait a few weeks.

As a beginner game developer, one big reason why things can be delayed is motivation. Sometimes, I'll lose motivation to work on a game and it gets delayed by a few days until I find a reason to work on it and finish it. This might not be the main reason why 2.2 hasn't come out in 6 years, but it could play a part.
also, the people saying he can't keep promises don't understand that if he did add everything he promised for 2.2, we would be waiting much longer. These people should at least accept the fact that they are even getting the update.
as someone whos been waiting for this update since the day 2.1 released, yes, its frustrating that its delayed, but its for the right cause, so idrc. itll be here eventually, its so evident that robs poured years of blood sweat and tears into this, and i want to play his version of 2.2. not a buggy version of 2.2.
I do agree with the sentiment that RobTop did have unknown problems come up at the last minute, but at the same time, he's been developing this update for 7 years and has given estimates for his update MULTIPLE times and it NEVER went through. THIS announcement for October was probably the one that really stung. I CAN wait until November, but my point was that people have little to no faith in him anymore due to this stuff he pulls. I don't know HOW you got the sentiment "He's manipulating people" when we're just holding him accountable for all the delays he's done.
Think it's just the way you said "He's playing with people's feelings" which is just a more dramatic way of saying "He's letting people down" anyway about your 7 years thing, yes, i do agree. This is something that is definitely indefensible it's just reality. But the thing is, I don't understand why the outrage on this delay specifically especially when this is probably the shortest delay we got
The GD community is being ungrateful and incredibly childish right now. They expect Robtop to be their personal slave chained to his computer 24/7 working on 2.2. The fact is that Robtop is a person, not a robot, and he needs to take breaks, deal with his own issues and do things that aren’t just working around the clock. On top of development, he has to be in-touch with his community, constantly interacting with us and rating levels, assigning weeklies/dailies etc. The workload on him is insane and a bunch of spoilt 12 year olds - who don’t know and probably never will know how to print “Hello World” in Java - screaming at him on Twitter aren’t helping.
Yeah, feature creep happened, and Rob tried to cram too much content into a single update. Perhaps the SFX system was better reserved as a flagship feature for 2.3, and he didn’t need to add the ridiculous amount of stuff he did. He should learn from his mistakes and make 2.3 a smaller update. But right now, Robtop is giving us a massive game-changing update that’s been delayed from its original release window by a week or two, and a bunch of terminally online preteens whose entire lives revolve around this single game are having a meltdown. Seriously, 90% of the people in this video probably need a hobby because if an update to a game being delayed by two weeks is enough for them to go into tantrum mode that’s seriously unhealthy.

im up to 1:28 and i havent fully watched the video yet but my stance is that I'm on both sides. I fully understand RobTop needing to polish the update and I agree with this decision. I just am not a fan of the fact that after 6 years of waiting, we finally get a release month and the whole community has their hopes up only to be let down when its announced that it's not actually releasing in October. Thinking that the end is within weeks, only to wait longer is disappointing to say the least. It would have been so much better if RobTop announced that 2.2 would come out in 2023 instead of saying a specific month, so that he would have more time to work on the update. But people are definitly overreacting and need to understand that RobTop is a person and people make mistakes. Overall, November is perfectly fine, I just wish he never said a specific month to begin with.

Now I don't think people should get so pissy about the update being released later and I also think the game being delayed is a good thing BUT they have a point. If a team/developer announces a release date it would be expected that they aired out almost everything before they announce that date leading it to be released. The reality of this is that Robtop didn't deliver on his word and that WILL be disappointing to most people. He had a set date, he was getting everybody excited for that date and delayed it. if rob said he'd release it exactly on october 22nd but released it on october 23rd it would still be an issue. Develop your update all you want, take all the time you need but never make a promise you can't handle and yes, it is a promise zimmy on 7:04 even the coming soon text is considered a promise by rob. Setting a release window or date you aren't sure of isn't fine, just say november 2023 or even october-november 2023. They all work but don't delay the release you've given, there's nothing to defend about this
In my eyes a promise is when specifically says "will" anything that is a "maybe, soon, hopefully, etc" is just an estimation to me and this is my view for any game release. Like, if I say "Hopefully I can go to your place" does not mean it's a promise and definite that I will go to your place. Not only that but if you watched the video, the delay was not planned, Rob had expected to be finished in October but the server switching & bugfixing were more than he expected which is normal. I will however say that the only indefensible thing in this situation was that it took 7 years to reach this point, that's just the reality of it

'We're getting less content than advertised' This is literally all wrong, there is not a single ounce of this that is correct. We are getting SO much more than advertised. Viprin has said that the things in the trailer is only the surface. Obviously no one wants it delayed, and if it was up to me at least I'd have it 6 years earlier, but the reason that it was delayed is so much better than having a broken update. From a developer's point, it'd kill all hype for the game and no developer would want that, but from a community point it'd be so underwhelming for a buggy mess to be released after 6 years (*cough* cyberpunk *cough*)

All the people saying that Rob lied and mislead them with the announced October release date don't understand unknown unknowns. In August or even earlier when the anniversary video was made Rob estimated that he could complete everything until October. This estimation can only be based on what he knew at the time about remaining work and possible issues, it's literally impossible for him to know how much time fixing issues unknown to him at the time would take. If he did he would have probably just set November or even December as the release date.
If he wasn't so sure, he could've not given a so strict release date and instead said smth like "coming in 2023" or "coming in November/December"
@@nick72486 He obviously could have included more headroom in his timeline and he almost certainly already did plan for some with the October date, but unknown unknowns can make any timeline impossible to hold. In August he could not have known about the issues he would find later in September and October, how many there would be and how long they would take to fix, which made it impossible to be sure on any estimate at that time. This also still applies today as he doesn't know how many issues might arise tomorrow, but the estimate should get more and more accurate the closer to finishing he gets.

I think people who go around hating on robtop for "being lazy" and "taking forever" to finish the update really don't appreciate him like they should.
Like, not only did he spend 6 years working on this update, he has also made sure to take some time out of his day to maintain the servers, rate levels, and (at times) interact directly with the community. The level of dedication this guy has to this community is lowkey insane.
