He not only had no case, but he gave a prime example of his business ethics by trying to charge them for "storage" as retribution for the claim. You can't unilaterally impose a contract after the fact.
So many people talking about the defendant's tie...am I the only one who saw eyes drawn/tattooed on the back of his head when he turned his back to Doug?! Freaky.
Most people don’t put bleaching agents on their couch especially people with money who can afford to have someone clean it. No way they tried to clean a 2.5k couch themselves.
Why not? If there's a stain on my couch, yeah, why wouldn't I try ? Yes, I can easily afford a 5k couch, and that has nothing to do with trying to get a stain out.
I have cleaned upholstery for over 6 years. this is common when the customer has already tried to clean it but never extracted the cleaning product. as the cleaning product sits on the fabric it continues to work and starts to remove the color, but the color remains on the couch just no longer imbedded into the fabric. Then along comes the cleaner and rinses the couch and poof the color is removed. this is also very common on carpets in front of a shower. soap and shampoo that where not fully rinsed drip off your body onto the carpet and bleach the carpet over time.
Exactly (was a carpet and upholstery cleaner myself years ago). The Defendant was a jerk for sure, and didn't explain his point properly. Then the Judge got hung up on "bleaching agent", because he should have said cleaner or detergent. Plus, it soesnt make sense the exact same process on the other couch didn't change its color; clearly the stained couch had something different, and the most likely answer is they had attempted to clean it themselves using a product that caused a chemical reaction when the pros cleaned it.
This just blew my mind! Wtf! This man should loose his business.😮 His attitide and his actions show his true character. He stole the couch then held it for ransom aka storage fees. Again...W T F

CITRUS? Citrus. Citrus can most certainly be used as a bleaching agent. And if they had used one wouldn't the couch color already be different? Regardless, he just absolutely TRASHED his own business.
I think I know what happened. That couch looks like it is one that the fabric dries very quickly. He pretested the first and then sprayed both. While cleaning the first the other soaked all that cleaning solution. The first couch he did managed to clean quickly enough that it didn’t bleach but by the time the second happened it started losing its color as he cleaned. It’s why one got damaged and the other didn’t.
He honestly thought that she covered the couch in bleach, it did not change colors, then she called a professional to clean it. When they added their chemical, it turned pink because she had secretly covered it with bleach which had then dried. Next, he stole the couch and tried to charge her storage fees!
