  • Adam Block and Mike Cranfield join us tonight to talk about the new NB Colour Mapper script for PixInisight! The script gives you fine control over the exact color to which you map each narrowband channel. Adam and Mike will demonstrate the new beta version.

    It’s amazing how he educates on astronomy while teaching processing, great watch

    Great explainer on NB color mapper done by Michael but Adam could do a bit of preparation or maybe choreography before doing these things as it becomes confusing as he's going through options in his head and backing up and redoing and jumping around (rinse and repeat).. To me it just confuses whatever example he's trying to put across in his dragon example. Then on the next example of new features, when Adam subtracted the Ha from Red, two things were confusing. One is that for whatever reason I don't see where the negative coefficient is applied. I don't see a negative sign unless being less than zero implies negative. That could be explained better. Then using an example of an image that doesn't use the median is also a bit confusing as most of our images will use the median. Lastly, 2 things might be changed to make this easier to use some time after you've watched a tutorian. One is to change the 'include' to include in display or just display if the only purpose of this column is for display and not calculation. The other is to add a subtract option instead of add and somehow get to subtract that isn't obvious. Maybe the compression is making the negative sign invisible but I can't see it watching the video after the fact. Just feedback.

    Thank you for this!! Did you linear-fit the R and the H frames from M33? Best wishes

    Too bad 720p makes it really difficult to read what Adam Block is sharing.

      yeah I don't get why the channel is still limited on resolution, processing demos really need to be in 4k. I heard it mentioned that the conference software they are using doesn't t support higher res, but there are other platforms that do. its like im watching content from 2005. having to squint to try and read the text in the demos.

      A wealth of information on processing and unfortunately the 720p video makes it quite difficult to view. Hopefully a improvement can be obtained soon.

    Assuming we can do this colorization process independently on starless and star layers and then combine those too?

      The PixelMath expression is: combine(nbcmImage,M33rgb,op_mul())
