Looks really good. You did a good job.👍 Unfortunately, lighting like this is not allowed in my country.☹
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I wonder too. 😄 The authorities in Germany think it could irritate other road users.
@@MauriceBln1 crazy. I’m not too sure the laws with driving with underglow on. But I think you can get in trouble with red or blue. But an amber color for us should be legal to drive with
Both rides are looking sick!! Those light kits really took it to another level 👍👊
That’s actually really cool and I like how the leds in the front of the r8 curve with the front of the bumper. Both cars look amazing! And I love the vids keep it up!
Yeah they came out pretty sweet! Certainly fun for some car shows and photo shoots!
Nice job. The lights look good. The red and white on the R8 looks good. Like peppermint candy cane. That intercooler on the gtr is also Boss.
Underglow is definitely on my to do list when I get my R35👌💯💯 always had it on my nfs cars good times
It's hard to say which one looks better after these great installations! I agree, those would look really fly at nighttime car shows. I'm going out on a limb and say maybe the Taco is next😄
They both look great for sure! And the Tacoma already has lights! That was first! th-cam.com/video/eO-WkNVYuUg/w-d-xo.html
This needs to come back. It’s like a shot to my childhood
@@BrosFOURRSpeedwhy only a short amount of time. Did the underglow stop working or become problematic?
Love the battery connector idea, just bought that myself to try and put them on my car!
Thanks! Yeah its a great way to never have to worry about the kit putting a draw on the car. Great setup!
Good job with cable management. I still figuring out with mine. The difficult part is going through the tire struts. Trying to find out where to safely put the wire without interfering with moving parts.
Awesome video. I’m gonna add this to my Maverick before I install the lowering springs!
My brother has a rock light kit he took off his Tacoma for sale if you are interested! Message on IG for pics and details on that!
Dude I Am Still A Huge Fan of Your 2014 Nissan R35 GT-R Premium With I Am Like Your Underglow Lights Under The Pipe.
noticed ur still using the stock orange side markers with a tint coating? u should try to take a look at iJDMtoy LED side markers, i got the clear one but theres smoked lenses too, i believe 2021+ GTRs came with it stock
Hey man awesome video and I was wondering how you hid the light under the rear diffuser. I have a r35 and sadly only the rear diffuser section shows the strip when driving behind it
I didnt do anything for the rear. Just sides and inside the front bumper. There really wasnt a good place front and rear under the car. So I just did it the way I showed in the vid
Try using a piece of 90 degree angled plastic. Mount the plastic piece to the vehicle, then the strip to the plastic piece. The lip of the plastic will cover the actual strip from being seen.
Is the battery tender on a switch some how? How do they not stay on when they car turns off I just got a set delivered from Amazon (govee underglow kit) I have a 07 cadillac dts but my battery in under the back seat what should I do?
My battery tender wires go to the battery. And I simply plug that end into the tender itself cable. These lights I connected to their own end that I ca plug into that same end used for the battery tender. So when the lights are unplugged, they have no power to them.
You did it right. Golden rule followed, you can't see the actual strip👍🏽
On some cars it's almost impossible to hide... If in this situation, buy a piece of 90 degree angled plastic, mount it to the vehicle first, then mount the lights to the angled plastic piece. The lip of the plastic piece will cover the actual strip from being seen.
I bought the kit awail ago do you have to have that extra part for the battery
Nope. I just did that so it wouldn't be connected to the car when I didn't want it to be. I hardly ever drive at night. So I only want it plugged in a few times
Do you have a link to the app they use on iOS? I was trying to find the privacy policy for Oneup Lighting and their app that controls but all I can seem to find is a generic return address to a shopping center that does not have their name anywhere associated with it (with multiple websites using the same address). Their privacy policy for their website is different than the app and they don't seem to list the app used anywhere.
In a winter in states that snows In a winter like, Pennsylvania/New York Will they still work in a crazy weather like that?
I just stumbled across this video. If you dont mind me asking, what is it you guys do for a living? I mean a GTR and an R8? How? Good for you though!
Our TH-cam channel is our full time job. Been doing this for 10 years. Been a business for about 5 years. We also live very simple lives well below our means. So it really doesnt take much to have a few nice cars. Actually just sold the GTR for a Lamborghini. But simple lives and a middle class salary go a long way!
Had you used two short bar for the front and rear on the R8 could you have had it “follow” or “chase” from the center?
I think however you plug in the lights is the direct the lights will go when using those modes. Doesn't matter which length it is. As long as they are inline thats the direction they follow
Last question - are you using the battery tender connection to splice in the underglow system?
Hey is it better to wire the underglow to the battery itself OR another source where it only comes on when the engine is on?
I think what we did was the best! It won’t drain the battery when you don’t want them on and it’s easy to hook it up when you want them!
Use a relay. Tap into an accessory power wire. Use an on/off/on 3-position rocker switch, wire it so one on-position is for accessory power, and the other on-position is for a constant hot from the battery. That way you can keep it in accessory power mode so it only comes on with the key turned on, but then if want to be able to show your lights without starting the car, then you can just flip it into the other on-position and turn the lights on and off with the app.
Looks awesome! But you didn't take off your bumper, you took off your bumper cover 😂
Love how this exact kit is the same kit as the Govee one for like $50
Well they all will look the same. But long term quality is what your paying for
@brosfourrspeed Would it be better to put some gorilla glue adhesive vs drilling the little anchors?
Maybe. But the small screws can easily be removed. You'd see a lot of glue residue if you did that route
The 3M VHB tape on the strips is stronger than Gorilla glue. If installing to metal, you'll have no problem getting an excellent bond by cleaning with a degreaser and then 80% IPA. If adhering to plastic, zip ties are the best fail safe, but if you don't want to do that, then the tape can still work good, however if not using zip ties and attempting to stick the 3M tape to plastic, then you'll want to use 3M Primer 94 and then it will have no trouble forming a weatherproof bond.
So the iphone app allows you to manually turn on/off the underglow lights? Since the lights are connected directly to the car battery, wont that drain the battery when the car is turned off?
It shouldn’t, but that’s why I made the connection that way, so when I’m not suing them, they aren’t hooked up!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Thanks, but can underglow lights work as puddle lights? They turn on when the car is unlocked and turn off when the car is locked, without having to use the iphone app?
I would like to know could you tell me what's the name of your and where can I purchase I would like to install it on my 04
Does this work once you turn on the car and turn off once the car is off? Without doing it manually from the app or controller
It could but I didn’t set it up that way! I manually do that since I don’t use them often, I didn’t want them hooked up to the power all the time.
Reminder - LEDs connected to a power source still draw a tiny amount of power even when they're turned off completely! This will not be an issue if you drive your car everyday, but if you don't drive it for 3-7 days the LEDs from the underglow will likely drain your battery. There's easy ways around this though.
Do you know what would be needed to light up the inside of car and link it all together so they all light the same at one time?
I think they have an interior kit too. Might have to control it separately. However it could plug inline with this. Not too sure
It's easy enough to do it, you just have to splice the wires for the interior with the matching wires of exterior underglow lights. Or you could buy two much more expensive Blueghozt controllers and sync them together.
My biggest question is with the wires going up through the engine there should be little to no problems? Or should I work around the Engine to the Battery avoiding contact with the metal and staying to the parts that won’t melt the wires?
When connecting it straight to the battery, do you have to disconnect the battery first or apply the positive first and then the negative?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed does it matter which way you remove them from the battery as well? Also thanks for the response and help!
@@noahhuraan5353 general take the positive off first. And put it on last
No problem!
Tip - When working with LEDs, it's best to plug all of your strips up before giving them power. Plugging in strips to a controller that's already getting power can damage the lights. It also might not damage them, but that's the general rule of thumb when dealing with LEDs.
Won’t the lights always be on? Draining the battery with Bluetooth always running?
Nope! That’s why I installed them the way I did and explained that! When I didn’t want them on, I simply disconnected them to avoid that!
So im wondering if its legal in texas been doing some reading some say it is some say its not allowed
It's definitely up in the air. Depends on the color you run with and if a cop doesn't like it. I would avoid driving with any flashing colors, especially red or blue.
Is the battery tender necessary?
Nope. I just used the connection for it that way I don't have to leave the lights connected to the battery. I already had the battery tender hard wired to my car. So now I can still easily plug in the car when I'm not driving it. And then use the same connection when I use the lights
Is there a car scene where you guys live? Maybe you should film some car meets or cars and coffee if your into that kind of stuff
We go to cars and coffees when we can! Used to film the events a long time ago, but we go now just to enjoy walking around and checking out the cars!
I am not too much of a fan of underflow lights, they would attract too much attention here in Orlando, FL from other drivers resulting in lots of ricer flybys, getting cut off and brake checking.
Nice job on installing the underflow lights! 😎
Lol yeah I wouldn’t drive with them on much. I rarely even drove at night. But cool for car shows and photoshoots tho 😎
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I miss going to car shows, especially the ones at Hooters restaurants. 😌🤗
@@waic1639 lol Ive never been to that restaurant. But we have so many car shows around!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed
There are plenty of car shows in FL too, but the ones at Hooters tends to have more muscle cars, vintage and modern.
Hooters is an okay restaurant, basically a KFC mixed with Olive Garden and adding a lot more bosoms. 🤭
Longhorn Steakhouse is better than Hooters.
I went for some delicious T bone steak at a Longhorn across the street from Hooters one time when the Hooters that was hosting the car show was packed. I enjoyed steak, soup, and chocolate cake in a nearly empty restaurant. That was a truly lovely meal.
The last time I connected underglow to my battery it killed it, how can I keep it from doing that?
That's why I made the connection. So I leave it unplugged when I'm not using it. Plug it in when I plan on having it lit up
LEDs draw power from the battery even when they're turned off. To keep them from draining your battery, buy a simple shut off device that will completely kill all power to the controller if the Voltage drops to a certain threshold. You could also just use a toggle switch and turn them off completely by flipping the switch to off.
i got the same kit but my cars are old and its just the metal underbody of the cars and i cannot find a secure way to fit it to the car withoud drilling into the metal
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I have t tried but I didn’t think I would have much luck cos I tried silicon and that didn’t stick well either
@jakepace9315 Clean the metal with a degreasing agent really good, then clean it with alcohol really good, and the 3M VHB tape will have no problem holding up the lights. If you don't mind drilling directly into the metal, then you could also use zip tie mounts for extra piece of mind. But the 3M tape is very strong.
Where can u get something like this done at ?
You could always try yourself! But any local shop that does audio or electronics, maybe if they install lift kits, light bars, somewhere like that.
Typical cost for an underglow installation is around $400. Most people's underglow kits will experience a failure in less than a year. A cheap 50V 1000uf capacitor placed in-line with the LEDs power and ground wire, along with a 33ohm-330ohm resistor on the data line is a secret to help LEDs last longer in a vehicle environment. I also run mine through a voltage regulator that takes an voltage from 8-40 volts and spits out a nice smooth 12V of power. LEDs don't like the voltage spikes in vehicle electrical systems. Installers will typically just take your money and do the minimum.
i bought a car with light on it and i cant turn it off i was not told it had light looking for a switch
Look for the light connection, most likely on the battery and follow any wires that run from that, should help you locate a switch.
Soo you can just conect + to + and - to - on battery and it wont burn wires?
That is only reason that i search for this video i just want to make sure..
I literally just keep watching these to find out what to do with the extra wiring not hanging EVERYWHERE
@@BrosFOURRSpeed that’s exactly what I did before seeing this that same night lol. Smaller ones. Tied to frames and away from tires was my focal point
Are you guys able to install a kit for me and how much do you charge for installations
We aren’t able to do that, sorry! Hopefully this video can help walk you though it!
Install shops usually charge around $400 for underglow installation. Do it yourself.
i just got my boyfriend this for his birthday, he has a focus st and im trying to watch a video so i can help him install it
The underneath of my car is textured. I have 0 clue how to install with the tape.
The texture shouldn't affect the 3M tape, if anything it could make it hold stronger. For plastics that are really smooth, 3M recommends roughing up the plastic a bit if possible, because the tape adheres better to surfaces that aren't completely smooth. The real key is to clean it really really good with a degreasing agent and then alcohol.
are you still going to buy the new Z?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I hope you’re getting a manual :) I’m surprised you guys haven’t reviewed it yet.
@@RistyGucciAirEz only way to buy it in my opinion! Got bored with the automatic Supra. Haven’t had access to film one. Only people to film one it seems are the ones at the Vegas event.

The fuse in the battery connection is fine to keep things in check. You could tap it into a fuse in the car if you wanted to come on with the headlights.
I wish I could have this on my car but this is banned in the uk 😢

@djcrazybeast5277 That's a really good price. Most shops I've dealt with charge around $80-100/hr for labor and they estimate the underglow install will take 4-5 hours. I guess it depends where you are located, and it probably pays to shop around. Did you get it done at a car audio shop?
I’m gonna get this illegal or not once I don’t drive while it’s on it’s okay
Definitely depends on your state. Some cops may say it's illegal, others may not car. Just don't have flashing red or blue
Just don't do red in the front, most states at least have a law regarding that.

@@garryoak Cool, I didn’t have room for the other two, so I choose not to install them. Doesn’t make a difference for me, I wanted to do it this way. Has nothing to do with money.
I didnt need to know how to stick them on... I need to know how to properly wire them up to come on with the vehicle. Branching right off the battery terminals is not correct. Stop showing people that!
This is a perfectly fine way to install the lights. Most lights connect to the battery. To connect to headlights or something you'd just tap the power line into the headlight fuse basically
The only problem with only going directly to the battery and turning them on and off with the app, is that the LEDs still draw a tiny bit of power even when turned off. If you go out of town for a few days and don't take your car, you might come home to a dead battery. It's also not the best for the longevity of the battery to have the LEDs leaching 24/7.
It's not a good idea to have wiring routed underneath the control arm it has the possibility of being snagged by road debris, potholes, etc
omg i cannot believe it . so the ugly ass wraps are not enough are they ??? you gotta put some ricer style glow lights . wow . when i think you guys cannot mess a car up more then you already did . you do it again !
