- We're excited to kick off our new builds using the 2024 Player's Handbook and are starting off with a banger. This build is a blink blade playstyle build utilizing the Archfey Patron Warlock along with the Cloud Goliath to get a ton of teleportation mobility, along with weapon masteries and Pact of the Blade for great damage.

9:03 is wrong because misty Visions doesn’t expend a spell slot, and Bewitching Magic requires both an action and spell slot expended.
Came here to say same.
Also came to say this
Agreed!
And this is why we read and reread our features, else we set false expectations for them.
This
10/10 visual demonstrations
9:04
It specifies in the Bewitching Magic feature that the spell must use a spell slot. So free silent images aren’t going to allow you to misty step for free
truth.... Not like 7-11 free Misty Steps weren't enough already (x5 for CHA, x2-6 for PB).
Nice build, now every Warlock option seems viable and interesting!
I really like the fighter dip to start, I think it’s the best thing for anyone who wants to use weapons
And the CON save proficiency!
Really good! I made mine without multiclassing purposely but this is the cure for wearing heavy armor. I love this content.
This is fantastic. This inspired me to make something similar but EXTREMELY thematic. While it breaks the rules you set of only using the 2024 PHB, I couldn't resist.
For species, go with Eladrin, this still gives you Proficiency Bonus number up teleports with Fey Step. It also has an added on effect depending on your season. It makes FANTASTIC flavor with the Archfey patron.
Instead of only fighter 1, then the rest warlock, you'll start the same as fighter 1. Then, you'll take warlock up to 5 to get thirsting blade. After that, return to fighter and go to fighter 3 and subclass into Echo Knight.
This gets you even more burst damage with unleash incarnation and ensures you'll have teleports if you somehow manage to exhaust your Misty Steps and Fey Steps.
Was thinking of doing something similar, but I prefer Astral Elf.
First.
This is a great build/character to start out with these new rules.
Also love that you've got live footage/clips instead of AI art, hella respect.
Bewitching magic requires you to use an action AND expend a spell slot to free cast misty step, so misty vision doesn't allow you to do it infinitely.
Love this and i'm so happy to see archery finally become good
I'm personally planning Fighter 1, Warlock (Archfey) 6 (or maybe 7 for Greater Invisibility), but then after that go for Bard (Valor) 6, to get that extra juicy extra attack where I can replace one of the attacks with a Cantrip. At that point, I can attack with my weapon and then blast the enemy with a triple Eldritch blast! And when I then go for Fighter 2, I can even Action Surge for another weapon attack and another triple Eldritch Blast (because Action Surge only disallows the Magic Action, but not replacing one of our Valor Bard attacks of the Attack Action with a Cantrip). With some damage-boosting spell like Spirit Shroud up, that's a LOT of extra damage!
I feel like a lot of youtubers have moved away from build guides. I really enjoy them. And the model is a fun addition
Nice job with the character build and with the video format
You forgot to talk about about warlock spells and I think a few deserve a mention. Spells like hunger of Hadar that create an damaging area hazard are really big. round one you can drop hunger on a group, then as the make their way out you teleport to them and with pike knock them back in, or use repelling blast to knock them back in. If multiple party members have shove effects you can keep the enemies shoved in the aoe effect.
love the actors
Been playing a version of this for a few months now - built the character using the Playtest Archfey Warlock, and of course 2014 species, which I selected Eladrin from. Been quite a lot of fun so far.
Taking 5e content into account, I'd take Eladrin or Shadar-Kai as my race. Proficiency bonus number of teleports with extra effects for even more fey step tomfoolery. I'd also be more content with just having 14+ Dex with medium armor. It doesn't make sense to me to have a Fey themed blink blade have Dex as their dump stat.
Same for the dex. No need to get heavy armor. Save the star points, get a decent dex, don't feel like a clumsy oaf.
Because with 5.24 you need 13 str to use heavy weapons
You could do this build with a longsword and at 14 dex instead of str
World Tree Barbarian is a great teleporting tank & battlefield controller as well!
Great video and an amazing build
Who's your friend? She's a great sport to model your character.
Nice arms!
The misty visions/teleport shouldn’t work RAW, because of the spell slot requirement, right?
Or am I missing something?
What are you confused on? By level 20 you get 5 misty steps + 6 teleport from Goliath.
Edit: *For free
You're right. Misty visions does not expend a spell slot, so it doesn't trigger the 14th level ability.
@@Razdasoldier he is talking about the level 14 feature in conjunction with the invocation of silent image, where in the video he says that they result in infinite misty steps, but as it is written that you need to spend a spell slot, it doesn't work
@@loredalamora8123 then he is right. It is why I advocate for a dip in sorcerer for 1st level slots and silvery barbs
@@Razdasoldier A sorcerer dip on a warlock is rarely a bad idea anyway. I feel like even a few more levels wouldn't be bad, depending on preference and how you figure out how you want to get the epic boon.
Good to see you back
I know there's a section in the new book that lets you take old backgrounds potentially this build could take the strike up the Giants feat background and at level 4 get cloud giants guile for even more teleporting
Could definitely work! We just wanted to keep it all in the one book for simplicity sake.
BGG definitely thought of their backgrounds and feats with 2024 PHB and origin feats in mind. The resistance that feat gives you makes you a bit tankier, too!
Using a model during the video made your content stand out. Very creative.
Honestly so good to here someone calling this edition what it is lol its 5.5 folks
It's 5.$ (for the money grab)
I’d love to see a Great Old One build for the 2024 PHB
Could've been interesting to do one more level for action surge, or even one more level for battle master
Good vid, good concept. Other ideas to augment this: 1) Ohterworldy leap Innvocation ( even more mobility, and it's available at lvl 2) 2) Defensive Deulist ( hold a dagger in one hand when it's not your turn)
You can also play a build that never misses. Eldritch knight (minimum of 7, to get gish multi attack {valor bard also works as an alternative} graze weapon mastery), evocation (minimum of 3, to never miss any cantrip) and of course warlock. If you don't care about mixing cantrips into your attack action you can take less fighter and more warlock, although sorcerer is still not a bad addition either.
Why warlock? Eldritch knight only lets you replace your attack with a Wizard cantrip.
@@brannenpfister2579 I haven't got the book. In that case might be better. Otherwise as I had already indicated getting some sorcerer levels aren't a bad idea.
Anyway since evocation wizard says that any cantrip will do at least half damage makes eldritch blast a whole lot more reliable.
Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but Cloud Giant does not get "Misty Step," just a teleport. The Step of the Fey ability requires you to cast Misty Step, not just teleport. High Elf is the only 5.5e class that gives us the extra Misty Steps.
Good call out!
I live the humor of "we want to proc our weapon mastery as much as possible." So you WANT to miss?
i like to different weapons/playstyle options
Lol I love her transition into arch fey
Btw for anyone still using 5.14 rules, play a high elf and take the racial feat fey teleportation for a free Misty step every short rest. Really helps extend those subclass uses, along with the free Misty step high elf already gives you! These actually proc your subclass abilities unlike cloud goliaths
Why not eladrin?
@ Because Eldarin is not a high elf and cannot take the feat Fey Teleportation.
@brannenpfister2579 no, but they get a bonus action teleport (with rider effect) 1/short rest without a feat
As do Shadar kai
@ But those don’t trigger your subclass abilities. Fey Teleportation gives you a free misty step per SHORT rest, which DOES trigger your subclass abilities, which are often better than the eladrin riders.
Shamar-Kai rider is insane though. That’s a trade I would make for sure. It wouldn’t proc your subclass abilities, but getting resist all is one of the best abilities in the game.
Thank you for using the new PHB. Most of the DMs and videos out there don't know it and are afraid of change so they either talk smack and/or don't allow it.
Very fun filming 😎
Can someone please explain how they got to a 17 charisma, 15 strength, 14 constitution and wisdom, assuming the background gave +2 charisma and +1 constitution) using point buy system? Going down the line that is a 15, 8, 13, 8, 14, 15 plus the background. Thats 30 points with point buy. Its supposed to be 27
Higher point buy…. Rolled stats…. He said you’re going to want, not you’re going to start with. I play at a table that commonly does a point buy with 32. Makes the characters a bit better than your every day adventure.
This is very similar to a character I'm playing in my first 5.5 game. I'm only going 13 strength, though. No need to waste stat points for strength for heavy armor. Also taking Cloud Goliath, though High Elf might actually be stronger, since it works eith your misty step bonuses. Finally, going Paladin 1 for the extra spell slots. I'm taking the jump invocation for even more mobility. It effectively gives you +20 feet of movement in addition to bring able to jump over obstacles and up onto things. It's almost like limited flight.
If you already have to hit 13 str, 15 str for heavy armor is more stat efficient than 14 dex with medium armor. It's 4 points of stats to boost the strength, but 7 to get dex to 14. Those extra 3 can be spent elsewhere.
@crownlexicon5225 that assumes you'd dump dex, but dex is useful for more than AC. It's initiative and dex saves and skills... Strength is barely used for anything. I also value not having the disadvantage on stealth. Plus, heavy armor is only better AC once you get plate, which is quite expensive and not likely before 5th level in my experience.
I think the One level faither wasn't necessary, the Blink Blade made just worlock class
Can somebody explain to me each attack in the monk dagger nick combo and why it works the way it does?
I love for to make a blink monk
Sounds like an awesome build! We'll see if we can make it happen!
Why fighter as opposed to paladin? Both have a str 13 requirement, give heavy armor prof, and weapon masteries.
Either could definitely be argued, I think the big draw to Fighter is for Constitution saving throws for maintaining concentration. Additionally, Second wind is a big help for buffing lower constitution.
How would you build this if wanted to dump strength instead of Dex? the 13str requirement for heavy weapons feels bad
Point buy wont allow 14 min on both con and wis if str is 15 and cha 17.
I'll try that with a Shadar-kai
Also 10/10 5.5. Its 5.5
I wonder if your archfey teleport assassin is trully stronger then my rogue/shadow monk assassin
2 leve of rogue (for cunning action hide), 6 level in monk for shadow step, darkness and the ability to see inside that darkness. This is the core of the build.
Grab a dagger (nick) and a scimitar (vex) (yes we are dual wielding
Dual wielding for an extra scimitar attack on our bonus action (it does stack with your martial art bonus action unarmed attack and with flurry of blow bonus action 2/3 unarmed attack) (giving you up to 7 attacks per round)
get your 20 dex ASAP (for your stealth check and hitting with your finess weapon)
Your martial art dice increase the damage dice of the dagger and the scimitar
After that grab what you prefer, keep going monk for heightened focus and 3 flurry of blow
Grab improved shadow step
grab a 3rd rogue level for a subclass (PYF. I love arcane trickster, bonus action mage hand for unlocking and pickpocketing safely at a distance and a few low level wizard spell to use your concentration)
If you go 4rogue/16monk you could grab 2 epic boon (rogue 3/monk15 bring you to level 18. your 4th rogue level and your 16th monk level will give you a feat and your overall character level will be 19 and 20, meaning you can choose 2 Epic boon and end up with 22 Dex)
Your spamming misty step at 14th won’t work…the subclass feature requires you to USE AN ACTION AND A SPELL SLOT. If you use an eldritch invocation to cast silent image or disguise self at-will you do so WITHOUT EXPENDING A SPELL SLOT.
Multiclassing doesn’t give you proficiency in that classes saving throws. Also doesn’t give heavy armor training. You’d have to start as a fighter to get heavy armor from multiclassing. You only get up to medium armor and shields with armor for going into fighter when multiclassing.
@5:20 finally the real eye candy arrives :)
STR 15 is completely unnecessary. DEX 14 with medium armor is sufficient. Start Fighter 1 for Con saves and Armor, then go Warlock 19
greatsword > other weapons though
Drop the fighter drip it's unnecessary especially that early
I mean officially it is 5e 2024, so making up random name that is not real does not make sense... The time of joke "Sixth One 5.5 edition of 2024" is over. The name is officially set, released so no more need to make cringe jokes about it,
Whos joking?
Prefer 5e.2024
Great Weapon Fighting is absolutely awful. Less than 1 dpr. You're better off taking Blind Fighting so you can teleport into an area of heavy obscurement.
Technically it is +1 for Greatsword & Maul, +.3 for Pike, Glaive, Halberd & Lance, & just +.25 for Greataxe. Absolutely atrocious, Defense or Blindfighting are much better options. Also it is only a Bonus Action to bond with a weapon now.
If you want to play warlock and need to start with another class - you know that warlock is underworked/bad. Without multiclass you have zero defence, you are MAD and you lack weapon mastery. They really dropped the ball with warlock.
